Budget woes...is there a way out?
By: Diane Sori
In case some don’t know, it’s been more than three years since the Senate passed a budget (let alone a balanced one). However this past March the House did pass what they called a ‘blueprint budget’ that would reconstruct Medicare, cut domestic spending back to levels unseen since World War II, and order an overhaul of the tax code. But something we all must be aware of is that nowhere in the Constitution is it required that the president or Congress present or pass an annual budget.
But first a brief history lesson: the budgeting process we’re familiar with today began in 1921 with the passing of the Budget and Accounting Act, which includes the president's budget. Then in 1974 the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act set a timetable for the annual budget process, beginning each year with the president’s budget submission which ‘should be presented to Congress’ on or before the first Monday in February. This would usually coincide with the Presidential State of the Union address.
And herein lies the problem.
Because the Constitution does NOT demand a budget be put in place every year, and because The Budget Act says ‘should be presented to Congress’ instead of ‘MUST be presented to Congress’, the House and Senate can drag their feet on adopting a budget and legally get away with it.
But even if the process was followed as laid out, Barack Hussein Obama and most members of Congress simply still do NOT get the basic economic principal of ‘you cannot spend more than you take in’. For every dollar the government spends beyond what it brings in, the debt incurred passes down to our children and grandchildren.
And while Obama encourages the debt ceiling be raised to levels unseen in our nation’s history so he can give out his freebies and handouts to assure himself votes, we have some in Congress who wisely want to see a Balanced Budget Amendment be added to our Constitution. However, while this is a noble goal, amending the Constitution is not easy. The current Republican held House may pass this much wanted amendment, but the passage of such an amendment in the current Democratic controlled Senate is NOT likely to happen, and even if by some miracle the Senate passed it, it would still need to be ratified by three-fourths of the states, which again is highly unlikely.
Also, what those pushing for a Balanced Budget Amendment still need to remember is that even if such an amendment did pass, balancing the budget would still have to be done each year by legislation. That would require Congress to work together on many pieces of legislation (appropriation bills, tax legislation, supplemental appropriations for example), and being that they can’t work together now as it is, what makes anyone think they would successfully work together even if such an amendment was put in place.
The bottom line in all this is that ‘We the People’ need to clean house, so to speak, and NOT just vote out this joke of a president but we must also vote out every Congressperson and Senator who is holding up the passage of not just any budget, but a sensible workable budget that would start the ball rolling to correct some of Barack Hussein Obama’s failed economic policies. If we don’t force the reigning in of Obama’s out of control spending now, our country will face a fiscal crisis never seen before and probably will never see again, because we might never recover from this man and his Congressional crony’s deliberate ineptitude and economic sabotage.
Iranian president: Israel 'nothing more than a mosquito' to Iran
By the CNN Wire Staff
(CNN) -- Ahead of upcoming nuclear talks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad downplayed the threat Israel poses to Iran, comparing it to an annoying bug.
"Israel is nothing more than a mosquito which cannot see the broad horizon of the Iranian nation," he said Saturday in northeastern Iran's Khorassan province, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
Ahmadinejad said "regional states" were being duped into buying billions in arms from "arrogant and imperial powers," driven in part by all the talk surrounding a potential war involving Iran and Israel, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported. Such military purchases, he said, are unnecessary because there is no war on the horizon between those two nations.
The Iranian president alluded to "rulers" who sold "their petrol" for $60 billion worth in arms, though he did not mention by name either the purchasing or selling country. Saudi Arabia is in the midst of a 20-year, $60 billion arms deal with the United States, including nearly $30 billion for F-15 fighter jets announced late last year.
Ahmadinejad has long questioned the existence of the Holocaust and, months after taking office in October 2005, he participated in a lengthy protest called "World Without Zionism" and has repeatedly derided Israel.
"With the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism," he said then, according to another IRNA report.
On Saturday, while seemingly backing away from the potential for an armed conflict, Ahmadinejad hardly signaled that Iranians should or will embrace Israel.
He predicted Israel could fall if regional powers cut ties -- particularly by refusing to sell oil to Israelis.
Tensions have ramped up in recent years over Iran's controversial nuclear program. Iran claims it is being developed for peaceful means, while Western powers and Israel say they think Iran is evading international inspections and intent on developing nuclear weapons.
This sentiment has led to sweeping sanctions targeting Iran's economy, government and its leaders.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been a particularly harsh, persistent critic of Iran's leadership and nuclear program, with rumors circulating for months that Israel may pre-emptively strike nuclear sites in Iran and possibly set off a regional war.
And Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, last Friday "blasted the U.S. war-mongering rhetoric against Iran," including President Barack Obama's assertion that "all options are on the table." He added war "can be 10 times more harmful to" the United States than Iran, according to a Fars report.
Even with all the back-and-forth, there has been an apparent shift recently in the tone, and manner, of dialogue between the two sides.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton described nuclear talks last month in Istanbul, Turkey, between international and Iranian diplomats on nuclear matters as "constructive and useful."
And Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said last week that he was optimistic that there would be progress in continued talks with the United States, Russia, China, Germany, France and Britain -- the so-called P5+1, Fars reported.
Those parties are set to meet again May 23 in Baghdad.
Before then, discussions in Vienna, Austria, will be held on Monday and Tuesday to address "outstanding issues and remove ambiguities," Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said, according to Fars.
Military leaders who are teaching that Islam is the enemy should be given promotions
Instead, the terrorist-supporters from CAIR are calling for their dismissal as well as eliminating anti-Islam training materials, all of which are factually correct. The only people who should be dismissed, if not court martialed, are the ones who leaked the training materials to the media and CAIR.
The Traitor in the White House is systematically destroying our military and its ability to defend us. If we do not kick his Muslim Marxist ass out of office, we will all be bowing to Islam four years from now.MSNBC Emerging details of inflammatory anti-Islam materials used in U.S. military training have prompted a chorus of outrage from civil rights and American Muslim groups, and growing demands for the dismissal of military leaders associated with the course, and for other actions to address the issue.
The materials, first detailed by Wired.com, used in an elective course at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., promoted “total war” against Muslims in order to stave off terrorism. The course, “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism,” raised the option of “taking war to a civilian population,” in disregard of the Geneva Convention of 1949, and possibly destruction of Mecca and Medina, Islam’s holiest sites.
“This is Abu Ghraib by power point and lectern,” said (radical leftist atheist) Mikey Weinstein, president of the nonprofit Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), referring to the scandal that erupted in 2004 after the surfacing of torrid pictures of U.S. troops abusing prisoners in Iraq. “It’s even worse than Abu Ghraib. What they are talking about is essentially genocide,” of Muslims.
The military announced a review of its training materials and canceled the “Perspectives” course in late April. The action came after an FBI review resulted in the elimination of reams of materials that were found to be discriminatory against Muslims, treating the whole population with suspicion.
The details coming to light from the the 8-week course at an elite military institution — taught to officers since 2004 — have shocked even those who have long complained about discrimination against Muslims.
Instructor Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley, the main focus of the criticism, taught that the Geneva Conventions that set standards of armed conflict are “no longer relevant. ”This would leave open the option once again of taking war to a civilian population wherever necessary (the historical precedents of Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki being applicable…).”
Dooley’s materials mock the notion of “moderate Muslims.” He taught that the growing number of mosques and Islamic centers in the United States would generate more adherents to use “violent jihad” in pursuit of Islamic domination.
The course materials admit that the actions and views included will not be seen as “politically correct.”
Indeed, the courses contradict U.S. government positions — as represented internally and to U.S. allies in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere — that while the country is fighting Islamic extremists, it is not at war with the religion or its adherents as a whole.
On Thursday, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Obama appointee, General Martin Dempsey called the course “totally objectionable” and “against our values.”
Dempsey told reporters at the Pentagon that Lt. Col. Dooley was no longer teaching, but has kept his job at the college, a top post-graduate professional military institution that serves students from around the world.
Among the organizations calling for Dooley’s dismissal from the college is the Council on American Islamic Relations.
“It is imperative that those who taught our future military leaders to wage war not just on our terrorist enemy, but on the faith of Islam itself be held accountable,” wrote CAIR national executive director Nihad Awad in a letter to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. “These shocking revelations are completely out of line with the longstanding values of one of our nation’s most respected institutions.”
The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee is urging the Pentagon to recall and retrain military personnel who have been subjected to the anti-Islam material.
“It’s very troubling,” Abed Ayoub, ADC legal director, told msnbc.com. “You’re sending American soldiers overseas with these trainings and these biases … I think there definitely should be a study as to what impact these trainings have had on their actions.”
Weinstein, from MRFF, asserts that Dooley and others in his chain of command who knew about the course materials or should have known about the material should face court-martial.
“MRFF calls for the immediate dismissal of Lt. Col. Dooley, as well as an immediate condemnation, deeply probing investigation, and swift trial by courts-martial of those responsible for allowing content advocating genocide to be used to indoctrinate future leaders within the U.S. armed forces,” he told msnbc.com.
Atheist Leftist Weinstein, a former Air Force judge advocate general, or JAG, believes the course is merely a symptom of a larger problem. In recent years he has campaigned against the military’s invitation of speakers that are known for virulent anti-Islam views. ”This is simply a small cancer cell that is rapidly metastasizing,” he said. “This is representative of a larger more sinister force which is fundamentalist Christianity.” (This atheist POS thinks Christianity is bad but Islam is good)

More than half of New York's Congressional delegation votes to punish NYPD for protecting New Yorkers from jihad terror
When even an energetic and enthusiastic dhimmi like New York's Mayor Bloomberg defends this program, you can be sure there is nothing wrong with it on legal grounds. These representatives are grandstanding and pandering for Muslim votes, and endangering New Yorkers' lives as they do so. "More Than Half New York's Congressional Delegation: Punish NYPD For Muslim Surveillance," by Celeste Katz for the New York Daily News
More than half New York's Congressional delegation voted to punish the NYPD for spying on Muslim communities.
Our Alison Gendar reports:
The mostly symbolic vote was aimed at getting the NYPD to stop any efforts to quietly monitor or infiltrate mosques, bookstores or cafes, and to get rid of any data collected on Muslim individuals not accused of any crime.
Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., introduced the amendment, saying the wholesale surveillance of innocent communities, many in his state, has not caught any terrorists.
"Contrary to the blanket assertions by some that the tactics have kept New York City safe, the NYPD failed to uncover two actual plots against New York City," Holt said, referring to foiled bombings in Times Square and the New York subway system.
Holt's proposal would have banned any federal funds from flowing to law enforcement agencies that engage in any form of racial, ethnic, or religious profiling.
The amendment drew fire from Rep. Peter King, head of the House Homeland Security Committee. He defended both the NYPD and its counterterrorism surveillance programs.
"I remember years ago when the Justice Department was going after the Mafia, they went to the Italian American communities. When they were going after the Westies, they went to the Irish American communities. When you're looking for the Russian mob, you go to the communities in Coney Island and Brighton Beach. That's where the enemy comes from," King said, according to a transcript of Wednesday's midnight debate.
"Ninety-nine percent of the people are law-abiding. But if you're looking for the person who is going to that community to carry out a crime, you look in that community. If you're looking for an Islamic terrorist, you don't go to Ben's Kosher Deli. When they were looking for the Italian mob, they didn't go to an Irish bar. They went to the Italian social clubs," King said.
The amendment was defeated 232 to 193....
What else you don't know about Obama boyhood
President tied to Bill Ayers' radical leftist organization from age 11
Editor’s note: In 2008, WND thoroughly vetted Barack Obama’s radical background. Many of those original exclusive reports, almost entirely ignored by the establishment news media, currently are being utilized four years later by some media outlets in the lead up to this year’s presidential election. From now until Election Day, WND will present original investigations into Obama and his radical ties with bonus updates.
Although the Washington Post this past week featured an extensive profile of Mitt Romney’s high school days, which alleged the presidential hopeful engaged in bullying, the news media has yet to probe important aspects of Obama’s early education that may evidence later radical ties.
WND had caught up with Rev. Mike Young, pastor of First Unitarian Church of Honolulu, who affirmed the congregation where Obama attended Sunday school as a boy has “always” been involved in political activism.
“The Sunday school has always been and to this day still is involved in political activism,” said Young.
“We are involved in community organizing, helping churches in foreign countries, social justice issues, like making sure inmates get dinner,” said Young, speaking from Hawaii.
While Obama’s membership as an adult in the controversial Trinity United Church of Christ has received widespread media attention, almost nothing has been reported about his Sunday school attendance at First Unitarian, a far-left activist church that may have helped provide the president’s initial political education.
Andrew Walden, publisher and editor of the Hawaii Free Press, dug up newspaper clippings from that period as well as print editions of “The Roach,” an SDS publication describing the group’s draft-dodging activism, including at the Unitarian church.
The SDS connection to Obama’s boyhood church is instrumental. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama notoriously brushed off Ayers’ extremism as irrelevant since most of the Weathermen radical’s violent actions were carried out when Obama was a kid.
“This is a guy [Ayers] who lives in my neighborhood … the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago – when I was 8 years old – somehow reflects on me and my values doesn’t make much sense,” Obama said in 2008.
Obama, however, likely learned values during his Sunday school days at the First Unitarian in the early 1970s.
After living from age 7 with his mother and step-father in Indonesia, where he was enrolled as a Muslim under the name “Barry Soetoro” in public schools, Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 11 in 1971 to reside with his grandmother. His mother moved back to Hawaii in 1972 and stayed there until 1977, when she relocated again to Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
In his autobiography, “Dreams from My Father,” Obama recounts on page 17 moving to Hawaii and being enrolled in the Unitarian church.
When Obama’s maternal grandmother died in November 2008, the memorial service, attended by the then-presidential candidate, was held in Honolulu’s Unitarian church.
First Unitarian Church of Honolulu
Young recounted to WND in 2009 how the bathrooms for the main sanctuary were in full use after the service. Obama said he had to use the restroom, so Young directed Obama and his secret service detail to instead utilize the upper floor facilities, located at the church’s Sunday school operations.
“When he returned,” Young recalled, “I asked Obama if the Sunday school looked familiar. He said it didn’t, but I explained to him we recently remodeled.”
Notorious hotbed of far-leftist activism
Young came to the Honolulu church in 1995. He claimed to WND the church and Sunday school is non-partisan. However, just as it is now, during Obama’s attendance in the early 1970s, the church was a hotbed of far-leftist activism.
The church notoriously granted sanctuary to U.S. military deserters recruited by the SDS. The deserters’ exploits at the church were front page news for months in 1969, including articles in the New York Times.
Eventually, the police raided the church as well as another nearby Honolulu worship house, Crossroads, that was also providing sanctuary to draft dodgers.
Aside from its early connections to the SDS, Young confirmed to WND his church was instrumental in founding the League of Women Voters and activating a local branch of the American Civil Liberties Union.
The church is still active is liberal politics. It reportedly helped to launch the Save Our Constitution effort to fight the constitutional amendment on same-sex marriages. In 2003, the church sponsored a Death with Dignity poll that collected a 72 percent response in favor of end-of-life legislation.
In February 2003, the Unitarian church celebrated its 50th anniversary at a ceremony replete with “Liberal Religion for 50 Years” T-shirts.
Why The Thrill Is Gone For Obama
By Jeff Crouere / The Western Center for Journalism
In 2008, the Obama campaign represented “Hope and Change” and inspired millions of voters to pull the lever for the unknown man from Illinois. At his campaign rallies, it was commonplace to see supporters fainting, overcome with raw emotion. Obama’s 2008 campaign was fueled by an amazing combination of energy and optimism rarely seen in American politics.
In the 2008 election, it was our nation’s chance to elect our first African-American President. It was a strike against the sins of slavery and racism in America’s past and a way to launch our country toward a bright future of racial harmony and progress.
What a difference four years makes! Gone are the lofty goals and the inspired rhetoric. Instead, we have the stark reality of a failed presidency. Regarding race relations, the President has not united Americans; he has set them against each other. He ushered in more racial division than any president in recent history. For example, Obama has needlessly inserted himself in controversies such as the Trayvon Martin case and the arrest of Professor Gates in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His Justice Department refused to prosecute club-wielding Black Panthers captured on video intimidating voters in Pennsylvania, while his Attorney General had the audacity to lecture the nation about supposed institutionalized racism.
On the important issue of the economy, his stewardship has been horrific. The President has presided over an increase of $5 trillion in our national debt. Throughout his term, there has been a depression in the housing industry, a weak jobs picture, and a sky-high trade deficit.
This will be the first President ever to be responsible for an overall decline in total employment with an increase in the unemployment rate. While the unemployment rate showed a slight decrease to 8.1% last month, it meant almost nothing since the overall picture is so grim. The last jobs report showed that more Americans are leaving the workforce altogether. The labor force participation rate is the lowest rate since December 1981. Almost one million Americans are so discouraged that they have stopped looking for work.
On the energy issue, the President speaks constantly of the need for alternative sources of energy. He wants to limit production of fossil fuels and raise taxes on the oil and gas industry. Post-BP oil spill, the President limited production in the Gulf of Mexico with his misguided moratorium, and a slow, arduous permitting process remains in place even today.
The results are not surprising. While gasoline prices are down a little in the last few weeks, it still costs more than double at the pump today than it did on the day the President was inaugurated.
With these troubles, it is no wonder than the latest Real Clear Politics poll average shows that 60% of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track. Americans have seen the direction the President has taken our country in the past 40 months, and it is not something millions of Americans want to experience for another four years.
In Tuesday’s primary election in West Virginia, 41% of Democrats expressed their displeasure with Obama by voting for Keith Judd, otherwise known as a convicted felon, federal inmate number 11593-051. Even though he is in a federal prison in Texarkana, Texas, Judd paid a filing fee, and his name appeared on the ballot. This was not the only embarrassing result for Obama; approximately 20% of Democratic voters in other Southern states such as Oklahoma and Alabama have voted against Obama in favor of unknown opponents.
Presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney is not an ideal candidate to take advantage of this discontent and oppose Obama, but he does represent at least some sort of improvement over warmed over socialism.
It is no surprise that he is leading President Obama in the latest Rasmussen poll by a margin of 49-44%.
Four years ago, Barack Obama was considered a “rock star” by millions of smitten Americans. Today, many of those same people view him as just another politician. Four years ago, he filled a stadium in Ohio with 36,000 screaming fans during a campaign stop. On Saturday, his re-election campaign was launched in front of an Ohio crowd of only 10,000 that barely filled half the seats in the arena.
The President likes to sing Al Green songs in public, anything to capture attention. In this election, many Americans will have the immortal words of the B.B. King classic on their minds when they go to the polls, “The thrill is gone away…..I’m free from your spell, I’m free, free now.”
Finally, the spell is lifted, and the real Obama can be seen clearly by the voters.
It is not a pretty sight.
