Florida to sue DHS in voter registration battle
By Jonathan Easley / The Hill

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) said he will sue the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to move forward with his controversial attempt to purge the voter rolls in his state of ineligible voters.

“I have a job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters,” Scott told Fox News on Monday. “We’ve been asking for the Department of Homeland Security’s database, SAVE, for months, and they haven’t given it to us. So this afternoon, we will be filing a lawsuit, the secretary of State of Florida, against the Department of Homeland Security to give us that database. We want to have fair, honest elections in our state and we have been put in a position that we have to sue the federal government to get this information.”

Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner produced the lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C. district court on Monday, shortly after, along with a statement.

“For nearly a year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has failed to meet its legal obligation to provide us the information necessary to identify and remove ineligible voters from Florida’s voter rolls,” Detzner said. “We can’t let the federal government delay our efforts to uphold the integrity of Florida elections any longer. We’ve filed a lawsuit to ensure the law is carried out and we are able to meet our obligation to keep the voter rolls accurate and current.”

Last week, the Department of Justice demanded Florida stop the voter-roll purge, saying it violated the federal Voting Rights Act (VRA) and the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and was reliant on faulty Department of Motor Vehicle records to determine who is eligible to vote.

The Scott administration responded with a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder saying it would continue the voter-roll purge, and is now seeking the DHS federal database as a part of that push.

Shortly after Scott's announcement, the DOJ responded with a letter to Detzner saying it was launching a suit of its own against the state.

Late Monday, Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez said in a letter to Detzner that “I have authorized the initiation of an enforcement action against Florida in Federal Court.”

“One of Congress’s concerns in enacting the protections of the VRA and NVRA, and one of the Department’s concerns in enforcing federal law as enacted by Congress, is ensuring that state efforts to find and purge ineligible persons from voter registration lists do not endanger the ability of eligible U.S. citizens to register to vote and maintain their voter registration status,” the letter read in part.

Republicans argue that state voter registration rolls are filled with noncitizens and others that are ineligible to vote. Democrats argue that the GOP is trying to strip voting rights from groups that tend to vote Democratic, and that there are only a handful of cases of voter fraud of the kind the GOP seeks to root out.

Any Florida resident that is eligible to vote that is purged from the voter rolls would have to verify their citizenship in order to be allowed to vote.

The lawsuits reignited an issue that on Monday, the Miami Herald said was “all but over.”

“The 67 county elections supervisors — who have final say over voter purges —are not moving forward with the purge for now because nearly all of them don’t trust the accuracy of a list of nearly 2,700 potential noncitizens identified by the state’s elections office,” the Miami Herald reported. “The U.S. Department of Justice has ordered the state to stop the purge.”

Scott is a Tea Party favorite who came into office in the 2010 wave election, but has seen his favorability rating plummet into the low 30s since taking office. The lawsuit could spark another heated election-year clash in a battleground state, similar to the Democratic attempt to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) after he stripped public workers of their collective bargaining rights.

Is Obama Committing Political Suicide?
Obama+golfs 300x200 Is Obama Committing Political Suicide?

While President Obama has been especially adroit at destroying the values and Religious underpinnings of Americans, and tearing down individual freedom’s funding apparatus, Capitalism, I never thought I would see him turn his purposely harmful tactics unto his own election campaign.

Are we watching a political suicide in the making?

Can anyone believe the smartest President of modern times, the Harvard professor, is really trying to get re-elected?

After Friday’s speech where he said the “private sector is fine,” and then had to address and walk back that statement? – I have to wonder about his real intentions.

I want to address the unnoticed head shot Obama inflicted upon himself, with no prodding or goading from anyone!

Correct me if I’m wrong (and I’m sure you will!), but didn’t our esteemed President just wait until 48 hours after the failed Wisconsin recall election to take a side, and didn’t he picked the losing side? The side that lost by 7 points, IN WISCONSIN!

The Wisconsin race will surely lead to a smaller government. The people in liberal Wisconsin, a government union bastion, voted to free working Americans from government unions and overspending. Other states are already emulating Wisconsin, salivating at the thought of cutting the throat of the government monster racing to enslave us as a European-style socialist (collapsed) state.

Yet Barack Obama claims what he needs to do is expand government, to get more state and city workers, (leading to more union workers). The “private sector is fine.”

Walker’s policies in Wisconsin have been devastating to the government unions, as the government no longer forcibly takes their dues, and now the workers have to pay them themselves…or not. The workers are fleeing the unions in droves.

The nation has seen both sides in the Wisconsin fight, over and over, for the past year. We know what each side represented, and we have to think the President might have noticed also.

Maybe he’ll be happy retiring after one term, playing golf and breaking the next President’s “shoes” occasionally, a la Bill Clinton.

Why in the world would he go, and why wouldn’t any of his advisers stop him from going,  “all-in” on a team that just got trounced badly on their home court?

Obama fraud 'biggest potential crime' in U.S. history

Citizenry urged not to abandon 'irradiated' eligibility issue

In an hour-long radio interview on presidential eligibility, an award-winning journalist and author declared Barack Obama could be at the center of the “biggest potential crime in all of American history.

Diana West, a columnist known for her boldness and penchant for eliciting dropped jaws, was interviewed Saturday by Frank Gaffney, founder of the Center for Security Policy, on his Secure Freedom Radio.

Her column appears Fridays on WND’s commentary page.

According to the show’s promotion, “Despite the results of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Cold Case Unit, which found that both Obama’s birth certificate and Selective Service Registration card had been forged, Obama’s behavior in the ’08 elections and the very words of the Constitution itself, the government has not allowed for a thorough and fair investigation into the issue of Obama’s eligibility.”

West contends Americans should be investigating exactly what is going on.

The nation is “looking at a great unsolved mystery, the greatest potential crime of all of American history,” she told Gaffney. “What we’re looking at is a president of the United States whose documentation has not been presented, vetted, corroborated,” she said.

Gaffney noted that the subject has become “irradiated.”

The issue has been raised in dozens of lawsuits and other legal challenges. Yet the courts and media have combined to make sure “this is a subject that does make it into America’s living rooms and parlors,” West said.

“It’s not considered polite conversation.”

But according to documentation in some of the legal challenges, the potentially damaging consequences are unquantifiable. The issues that would arise should Obama be declared ineligible include the status of laws he has signed and the international agreements he has made.

West said determining Obama’s eligibility isn’t complicated; it’s a matter of the definition of “natural born citizen,” which is what the Constitution requires for presidents.

“This was a specific designation that was much discussed among the Founders in order to eliminate any possibility of divided loyalties in the commander of the American armed forces,” she said.

She cited a 19th century U.S. Supreme Court case that determined a “natural born citizen” is the offspring of two citizen parents. Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., was in the United States only as a student and never was a citizen.

West discussed a pending court case in Florida that raises the issue of the parentage of natural born citizens.

She explained that the judge in that case already has noted that while critics of Obama have cited a legal definition for natural born citizen, supporters of the president have failed to cite a single instance to back their position.

“The mystery must be solved,” she said.

While serving as an editorial writer for the Washington Times, West began writing a regular column in 1999. It went to syndication shortly after Sept. 11, 2001.

West won second place for editorial writing in the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association Contest in 2001. She left the Times in 2002 to write her first book, “The Death of the Grown-Up: How America’s Arrested Development Is Bringing Down Western Civilization,” by St. Martin’s Press.

Not one to shy away from controversial commentary, along with Obama’s eligibility, West explores such topics as Islam’s claim to be “a religion of peace,” society’s efforts to “protect” children from Mother’s Day.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To 5.7 Percent
PHOTOS.COM
The “official” May unemployment number was 8.2 percent.
In February 2009, Congressional Democrats (with three quasi-Republican enablers in tow) solved America’s unemployment problem and financial woes by passing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

This act ordered the Federal Reserve to print hundreds of billions of new dollars for President Barack Obama to throw into the air to, we were told, create jobs for Americans, provide temporary relief for those most affected by the recession and invest in infrastructure, education, health and so-called “green” energy projects.

The total cost of this Keynesian boondoggle was to be $787 billion.

Obama’s transition team promised in an impact statement that if the ARRA were passed, unemployment — which stood at 7.8 percent at Obama’s inauguration — would be down to 5.7 percent by May 2012. A funny thing happened on the way 5.7 percent: nothing. The “official” May unemployment number was 8.2 percent. This was predictable and predicted.

Forty months have passed since the official unemployment rate was below 8 percent. This has not happened in America since the Great Depression. According to a report by the Congressional Budget Office, ARRA will cost a total of $831 billion by 2019. What was gained by the expenditure of this money?

Between 200,000 and 1.5 million jobs, according to the report.

In other words, ARRA created jobs at a cost of between $554,000 and $4.1 million each.

The notion that the Federal government spent $800 billion to create jobs is classic doublethink. If the money had to be spent — a false notion — there were certainly better ways to use it.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income is $51,914. If the goal was to employ people, more than 16 million could have been employed to do nothing — or many things — if they each were paid the median household income. This is more than the total number of Americans unemployed (12.7 million), according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Although couched in altruistic terms in order to deceive the American people into buying the lie, the money was used to reward corporatocracy — Wall Street, the banksters, large corporations that own American government and Obama campaign donors — not to stimulate recovery.

This is fascism in the name of democracy.

Understand this: The so-called stimulus package was a myth, as was the 2008 bailout package. The stated reasons for these packages were myths. Any statements by politicians that they have concern for the American people are falsehoods.

What we have is grand theft, grand fraud and grand deception. That is not a myth.

The real issue of the empire of intrigue is sucking the savings out of the American people by seductively watering their U.S. dollar accounts. This is not a myth. There is no historical equal.

The greatest tragedy of all is that the American people — the victims of this financial massacre — somehow, someway believe that this rape and the transfer of their savings and retirement to the system is good business. A more sober people would see this masquerade as a slaughter of their blood-bought assets and as no less than total war.

But the political elites continue to pile on. They are using weapons of mass deception.

CNBC reports that banks are being pressured to buy up government debt. It has been going on for years. What does this mean?

It means there is a time bomb fast ticking toward zero. Its explosion will be horrific.

There now seems no way to stop it. It is creating a new debt bubble that will rival the derivatives fiasco.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered what the mainstream media described as a stern warning to Washington to act more aggressively on debt reduction and fiscal responsibility. There is no appetite for that in Washington — or anywhere else.

The European Union is in crisis. Greece is on the verge of collapse. Spain is stalling for time. French citizens just elected a socialist who promises to double down on the policies that got the French economy in trouble to begin with. Germany will soon financially rule Europe.

It is not polite to speak of the EU as Eurosocialism or, God forbid, a neo-Nazism with Germany running the show. Nazi propaganda said, “Next time the world.”

Can we not see how National Socialism (Nazism) evolved through chaos to the New Order? If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it must be a duck.

The elite rulers of the world have a weakness. They use the same plans over and over. They change only names and propaganda. The people can’t seem to follow the underlying threads because, like children, they get outfoxed by different names and camouflages.

So now even the whole world has been hoodwinked into supporting National Socialism under the name European Union. Do you think that Herr Hitler would love it?

EU leaders call for austerity. No meat and trifling little fat are cut from the bone. Yet those who have for so long received something for nothing riot and strike and destroy. Then progressives point to the chaos in Europe and say, “See what austerity brings?”

What passes for “austerity” in Europe is similar to what passes as “austerity” in America: No one is serious about — or even seriously proposing — cutting government spending. Even suggestions to slow the growth of government spending are met with derision.

The only difference in America and Europe is the sacred cow military-industrial complex, which must continue exponential growth in order to feed Pax Americana.

More than 46 million Americans are on food stamps. Half of all Americans get some form of government assistance. These are all that are staving off “austerity riots” in America.

The next great transfer will be the confiscation of individual retirement accounts, 401(k)s and pension plans to pay down government debt. This will be the last big rape!

When that is gone, chaos and destruction will follow. Out of the ashes will rise a new system, hopefully a sound one on a gold standard. We must first go through the fire.
Op-ed:
Jimmy Carter and the Democrats...the catalysts for today’s Middle East fiasco
By: Diane Sori

Isn’t it wonderful how Barack Hussein Obama and all his liberal Democratic buddies love to blame Republican President George W. Bush for all the problems in the Middle East.  How convenient that they fail to remember that the real problems started with one of their own, Mr. Peanut himself, Jimmy Carter.

If we look at the major obstacles facing us today in regards to the Middle East, we can thank Jimmy Carter for just about all of it.  Carter’s actions, or should I say lack of actions back in the 1970’s, served to fuel today’s hatred towards Israel, and have led directly to the current escalation of violence throughout the entire region.

Starting with Carter’s abandonment of the Shah of Iran, to the November 1979 Iranian taking of our diplomats as hostages, followed the next month by the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, it’s plain to see where the finger of blame for today’s mess needs to be pointed...and it ‘aint at George W. Bush.

Jimmy Carter's sole claim to fame was the 1979 Camp David Accords, the Israel-Egypt peace treaty. While the alleged peace treaty between Egypt and Israel shakily held up until the recent ouster of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, that coupled with the hostile takeover of the Egyptian government by islamic radicals increased restlessness between Egypt and Israel.  Now some in The Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations are calling for the total shelving of the Camp David Accords...a foreboding of war.

But the real biggie for Jimmy Carter, which led to starting of the entire downward spiral in the Middle East was his total betrayal of the Shah of Iran.  In 1979, a newly formed radical islamic regime lead by Ayatollah Khomeini overthrew the Shah, sending him into exile in Mexico. This betrayal by Carter helped to fuel the islamic revolution, which led to student revolutionaries taking over the American embassy in Tehran, where they captured 52 American diplomats.  The hostages were held for 444 days until Carter left office on January 20, 1981.  Why were they suddenly freed then...because the revolutionaries feared what Republican President-elect Ronald Reagan might do if they didn't let them go.

We’ve been having problems with Iran ever since...thanks, Jimmy.  And isn’t it ironic that islamic extremists, wherever they might be, fear Republicans but just love to play games with the Democrats, whose answer to everything is to play politically correct games with them.

Anyway, all this led directly to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, because the Russians knew Carter would do nothing to stop them.  That invasion was directly responsible for the worldwide rise of radical islam and terrorist attacks, which culminated in the mother lode of all terrorist attacks...Sept. 11, 2001.

And Democrat Jimmy Carter was the catalyst to it all and still continues to add fuel to the fire as he just recently went over to Egypt to butt into their (fixed) elections.

Hey, Jimmy, haven’t you caused enough problems already!

And then there's Israel.

Adding further insult to injury, Jimmy Carter was a friend, an admitted close friend of former PLO President Yassir Arafat, on whose side he stood with all the phony ‘land for peace’ nonsense Arafat proposed.  In 2002, at Arafat's urging, Carter even went so far as to suggest that the U.S. should threaten Israel with the possible loss of U.S. aid if it continues its military offensive in the West Bank.

Add to this that millions of Arab dollars had been given to the Georgia Carter Center and the Jimmy Carter Library from His Majesty Sultan Qaboss bin Said Al Said of Oman, Jordan, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and from the government of the United Arab Emirates.  And additional hundreds of thousands of dollars have been given to the center by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. H.R.H.  Prince Moulay Hicham Ben Abdallah of Morocco has also contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the Carter Center.

Gee, I wonder where Jimmy Carter's loyalties lie, wink, wink.

That answer is simple, because let’s not forget that over the years Carter has publicly stated, and continues to state even to this day, that Hamas and Hezbollah are NOT terrorist organizations but are humanitarian ones.

Yeah, right.  Hey Jimmy, your anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiments are showing.

Jimmy Carter’s was a failed presidency with disasters on both the economic front (but that’s for another day) and on the foreign front as are Barack Hussein Obama’s.

And then there’s Democrat Bill Clinton.  You have to add him into this mix, because we must not forget his what amounted to a basic lack of response after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, and his slap on the wrist response for the bombing attack on the USS Cole in October 2000, when 17 American sailors lost their lives.

And in these Democratic footsteps is where Barack Hussein Obama is following in regards to the Middle East and the terrorists.  All the victories both large and small George W. Bush had in Iraq, and he had many, have been completely negated by Obama telling our enemies when we’ll be withdrawing. Now they sit and wait for us to leave and then they'll pounce and pounce hard.

All this is the price we've paid for Democrat Jimmy Carter's destabilizing of the region in the first place and it's going to be felt for years to come.

I don't envy what our new Republican president, Mitt Romney (insert hopeful expectations here), with the help of our troops will have to do in regards to the Middle East, for they will be the ones who will have to sort out and clean up the mess Democrat Jimmy Carter started, Democrat Bill Clinton turned his back on, and Democrat Barack Hussein Obama could care less about unless it aids his re-election bid.
