North Korea has New Missiles
Night WatchBy: Night Watch / Townhall Columnist

"We have discovered the North has moved two additional TELs (transporter-erector-launchers) to the east coast ... after 16 April," the official was quoted as saying.

Comment: The report did not specify the location of the newly detected missiles, but the context suggests it is near the two intermediate range missiles between the cities of Wonsan and Hamhung on the east coast.

Media. On 20 April, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) published a summary of a party daily "special article entitled, "There Will Be No DPRK-US Talks on Denuclearization."

"The U.S. is now talking about "dialogue" with the DPRK, putting up the latter's step for denuclearization as a precondition for dialogue."

"High-ranking U.S. officials let loose a spate of rhetoric that President Obama ordered to cancel some military drills, contributing to detente, the DPRK should be sincere in the efforts for realizing denuclearization and dialogue is possible only when it opts for denuclearization."

"Rodong Sinmun Saturday observed in a bylined article in this regard: This is nothing but rhetoric prompted by the U.S. crafty ploy to shift the blame for the tension on the Korean Peninsula on to the DPRK and put international pressure on it…."

"The U.S. should not think about the denuclearization on the peninsula before the world is denuclearized…"

"The DPRK's stand is clear."

"The U.S. should not think about the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula before the world is denuclearized. There may be talks between the DPRK and the U.S. for disarmament but no talks on denuclearization."

Comment: The position the Pyongyang government announced in March has not changed. The changed perspective continues in which the US is threatening a nuclear attack against North Korea. Presumably, that sets the groundwork for declaring victory when no attack occurs by the end of the month.

No 1 Combat Duty. The text of the Rodong Sinmun article is much longer than the KCNA summary and was intended for the internal audience. It mentioned in passing that the US nuclear threat was the reason that the armed forces were placed at the highest alert condition. NightWatch added the emphasis.

"….As long as the United States threatens us with nuclear weapons, our position is to repulse that with nuclear weapons. The fact that our army has entered a No 1 combat duty posture to strike the bases of the US imperialist forces of aggression in the Pacific operational theater, including the US mainland, with our style of powerful, precision nuclear strike means is a reflection of our intent not to tolerate any longer the nuclear threat the United States has made against us for the past several decades. The United States should understand that the era of threatening us with nuclear weapons is finished forever…."

Comment: This is the first reference to the No 1 combat duty posture since the order was announced on 26 March. The language of the text indicates that the order has not been rescinded. However, normality has crept all across the civilian sector.

The North's public statements beginning 18 April appear disjointed and confused. Clarifications required clarification and a one day standdown to clear the airwaves. Everything published has approval by one of the department of the Secretariat of the Central Committee. Thus, a signed article has some warrant of authority, but it is low in the propaganda hierarchy.

What makes this article noteworthy is KCNA republished its main points. The leadership liked it but wanted it crisper for the US audience.

Pakistan: Update. Former president Musharraf was remanded to house arrest at his villa near Islamabad on 20 April for two weeks until his next hearing. Musharraf is fighting prosecutions in the Islamabad High Court, the Anti-Terrorism Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. On 22 April he faces a hearing on treason charges before the Supreme Court.
The Muslim World Hates the U.S. More Than Ever

The Muslim World Hates the U.S. More Than Ever

By: Mona Charen / Townhall Columnist
If there was one thing the left was certain about in 2008 it was this: George W. Bush had catastrophically undermined America's world reputation with his unprovoked aggression and use of torture. The advent of Obama would reverse the damage. As Andrew Sullivan wrote in 2007, among best assets Obama brought to the "rebranding" of America was "his face." The election of Obama and his friendly approach to the Muslim world would make the United States safer as well as more just.

No one believed this tale more fervently than Obama himself. His first official act was to direct the closing of Guantanamo Bay within one year and the elimination of harsh interrogation techniques.

The "message we are sending around the world," he intoned, "is that the United States intends to prosecute the ongoing struggle ... in a manner that is consistent with our values and our ideals." In Cairo a few months later, he declared, "a new beginning" of relations between America and the Muslim world.

Obama participated in erecting a Bush straw man -- a Bush who disdained and caricatured Muslims in general and committed war crimes in the name of national security. In fact, Bush had gone to great pains, within hours of the 9/11 attacks, to appear with imams and to stress that Islam was a "religion of peace."

Because Iraq had been Bush's war, as Obama saw it, he squandered the hard-won victory by failing to obtain an agreement that would have kept a stabilizing American force on the ground, electing instead to withdraw completely. And because Afghanistan was the war that Bush allegedly neglected, Obama sent 33,000 more troops (fewer than the generals requested) -- a surge that, unlike Bush's in Iraq -- failed, but not before causing 70 percent of the American deaths in that conflict.

Most of all, the Obama administration fled from the concept of a struggle against Islamic terrorism as if fighting jihadis (the smalls subset of Muslims who've declared war on us) were equivalent to warring against all Muslims. Orwellian language flowed. The war on terror became "overseas contingency operations." When Major Nidal Hassan gunned down his fellow soldiers shouting "Allahu Akbar!" the president warned against jumping to conclusions (a caution he failed to show himself in the Trayvon Martin and Henry Louis Gates cases). His administration later dubbed Hassan's attack "workplace violence" rather than jihadism or terrorism.

When Faisal Shahzad attempted to explode a car bomb in Times Square, the administration at first declared it to be a lone wolf attack, only later reluctantly conceding that the Pakistani Taliban had been culpable. When the consulate in Benghazi was attacked (undermining the administration narrative that al-Qaida had died with bin Laden), the administration conducted a prolonged disinformation campaign designed to deny the obvious.

Tiptoeing through language after the Boston bombings, the administration at first declined to use the word "terror," perhaps fearing that to use the word would imply a Muslim connection. "You use those words and it means something very specific in people's minds," explained David Axelrod. Besides, he continued, the president suspected "tax day" protesters.

What has this excruciating torture of the language and elaborate "rebranding" achieved? The U.S. is not safer. Terror attacks have been attempted at the same rate as during the Bush years (and have been thwarted slightly less successfully). As for U.S. standing in the Muslim world, the Guardian reports that a 2011 poll found favorability ratings for the U.S. have plummeted. "In most countries they are lower than at the end of the Bush administration, and lower than Iran's favorable ratings." A 2012 Pew poll of six predominantly Muslim nations -- Turkey, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan -- found U.S. approval ratings below those during the Bush Administration and well under the popularity of China.

It's one thing to create a bogeyman for political purposes. Obama did it to Bush in 2008 (for use against McCain), and he did it to Romney in 2012. It's quite another to believe your own propaganda and make policy in response. Bush was no anti-Muslim bigot. If he erred, it was in believing too credulously in the readiness for western-style democracy in the Arab world.

As for Obama, his doubletalk about the nature of our enemies -- jihadis -- has achieved neither greater safety for Americans nor improved popularity in the Muslim world. He's 0 for 2.

Lessons From Boston
UPI
A SWAT team clears Bigelow Avenue during a massive manhunt for one of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects on April 19, 2013.
If the definition of insanity is indeed repeatedly doing the same thing while constantly expecting different results, then the islamofascist bombing of the Boston Marathon and the aftermath thereof offers lessons aplenty on the cycle of insanity in which our Nation now finds itself. Some of those lessons are more obvious; like the clear and present danger which islamofascism represents to innocent people everywhere. Some are less so; like the clear and present danger which political correctness has allowed islamofascism to deliver to our own shores.

Our counterterrorism and immigration enforcement structure is a wreck.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlane Tsarnaev might as well have been on the front cover of “People of Interest Daily.” According to multiple reports, they both displayed serious symptoms of islamofascism. As if his publicly psychotic pronouncements weren’t noteworthy enough, the Russians actually flagged Tamerlane on our behalf back in 2011. Now, our relationship with Russia isn’t quite as rosy as it was back when Presidents Clinton and Yeltsin were doing vodka shots in plus-size strip clubs. And yet, the FSB, which doubtless still remembers the Beslan massacre ALSO perpetrated by Chechen islamofascists, thought Tamerlane was trouble enough to rate a phone call to the Justice Department. Evidently, the Russkies’ warnings were ignored; perhaps because Attorney General Eric Holder was busy “confronting” the Mexican narcoterrorist threat. In the wake of the Russian phone call revelation, Holder had no comment. I suppose that’s an improvement from the perjury he usually resorts to.

The Corporate media couldn’t successfully report a car theft in progress in their own parking decks.

At this point, these guys are almost as credible — not to mention relevant — as the “Soap Opera Digest.” CNN, Fox News, the Boston Globe and the Associated Press all committed major factual errors in the hours and days following the bombing. At one point, MSNBC’s Lester Holt, whose own network has abandoned news coverage altogether in favor of leftist partisan rancor (more on that in a moment), admitted: “I can tell you more about what we don’t know than what we know.” It was almost as if Dan Rather had secretly taken over the entire media establishment. I half expected them to report: “The suspect is an older, well-dressed white male with a mustache. He may be carrying a wrench or a pipe. We believe he answers to the name ‘Colonel Mustard.’”

President Barack Hussein Obama lives in a world vastly different from ours.

Following his Rose Garden tantrum on Thursday, Obama flew to Boston; presumably to offer comfort to the grieving citizens of the wounded city. Instead, he talked up his favorite topic: Barack Obama. By the end of the week, Barry urged us all to avoid rushing to judgment. Of course we should. We wouldn’t want a repeat of that unfortunate George Zimmerman lynch mob business.

Liberals Absolutely HATE the rest of us.

Chris Matthews on MSNBC got it all wrong: “Normally, domestic terrorists, people tend to be on the far right, well that’s not a good category…” The New York Times’ Nick Kristof tweeted this random criticism: “explosion is a reminder that ATF needs a director. Shame on Senate Republicans for blocking apptment.” And David Sirota of leftist blogsite Salon.com took the blue ribbon with: “Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American.” So sorry to disappoint you, Dave. While the Democrats and their sock-puppets hoped the bombers were white Americans, I hoped they would be caught and punished; and that further attacks never happen.

Some liberals even managed to blame the 2nd amendment; as if their humiliating defeat in the Senate wasn’t enough. Sorry, kids. My AR-15 and the assorted standard-capacity magazines in my gun safe were nowhere near Boston last week. I would have noticed.

The smoke had yet to clear from Boylston Street, and the Democrats — ostensibly our American brothers and sisters — were desperately praying not for an end to terrorist attacks on our shores, not for swift justice for our attackers, not even for God’s gentle mercies for the victims and their families. Nope; their dearest wish was that YOU did it.

Now THAT is the definition of insanity.
NYPD’s Ray Kelly: Boston Bombers Represent New Jihadist Threat

By Bill Hoffmann

 / Newsmax

New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly believes the Boston Marathon bombings were a type of jihad attack that is on the rise in the United States.

“I see this as an ongoing pattern. We’ve seen these radicalized young men do, or try to do, similar things,’’ Kelly told Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’’

“We’ve had 16 plots here against the city, many of them involving young, disaffected men who are committed to killing Americans.’’

Kelly said those threats have remained “relatively constant’’ and “we don’t see it waning.’’

“What we do see is a shift from the sort of organized, top-down direction than we saw early on after 9/11 from al-Qaida to a more free-form, do-what-you-can approach,’’ Kelly said.

“[That’s] where individuals will get, in essence, radicalized on the Internet. They usually have someone who is a sanctioner that leads them along or mentors them.’’

He pointed to a 2007 study conducted by two of the NYPD’s top intelligence analysts that looked at the radicalization process of future terrorists.

“[They are] what they call unremarkable young men who go into four phases of jihadization,’’ Kelly said.

“They’re looking for a place in the world. They’re looking for meaning, looking for a cause. … They decide to get jihad. And after that decision is made, they can act pretty quickly.’’

Kelly said security in New York City was heightened immediately following the Boston Marathon explosions last week, but has since returned to normal levels.

“We see ourselves at a higher level all the time. We invest heavily in counterterrorism. We have 1,000 police officers … every day doing counterterrorism duties,’’ Kelly said.

“That’s certainly a higher number, percentage-wise … than any city I’m aware of. But, you know, there are no guarantees in this business. We know that big cities are vulnerable. We have an open society and things can happen here.’’

Kelly said it is still unclear as to whether the two brothers implicated in the bombings acted on their own.

“That is probably still an open question. … Two people are in custody who sort of helped their cause after they knew that they had committed the bombing,’’ he said.

“I’d like to have a little more time go by before we make a final determination of that. But the initial indication is that they did it on their own.’’

Kelly is monitoring the breaking terrorism case in Canada — in which authorities Monday arrested two men for allegedly plotting an al-Qaida attack on a passenger train traveling between Canada and the United States.

“We have police agencies involved in Amtrak in the northeastern part of the country,’’ Kelly said.

“We have almost daily communication. So, the protection, if you will, on the railroad lines in the country is probably as good as it’s ever been. No guarantees there, either, but we’re certainly working in a coordinated fashion.’’
Canada: Islamic jihad terrorists planned to blow up U.S.-Canada rail line -- "It was meant to be spectacular and there would have been a lot of carnage."

From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer

These noble warriors of Islam hoped to sow even more death and destruction than they have already sown. Meanwhile, Muslim communities in the U.S. and Canada say they condemn such jihad activities, yet have nary a single program to teach against this understanding of Islam that they ostensibly reject and abhor. Authorities don't seem to mind, and after jihad attacks or jihad plots like this one rush to prevent a never-appearing "backlash" rather than call these Muslim communities to account. And so we will see many more such jihad plots.

"It was meant to be spectacular and there would have been a lot of carnage."

"Canada thwarts plot to blow up U.S.-Canada rail line," by Euan Rocha for Reuters, April 22:
(Reuters) - Canadian security forces thwarted a plot to blow up a rail line between Canada and the United States and will announce arrests on Monday afternoon, police and intelligence agencies said.
U.S. security and law enforcement sources also said the suspects had sought to attack the railroad between Toronto and New York City. Canadian media said two men had been arrested after raids in Toronto and Montreal, Canada's two biggest cities.
Canadian police are holding a briefing about a "national security criminal investigation" at 3:30 p.m. ET (1930 GMT).
The police statement, which gave no details of arrests, said various Canadian security forces had conducted joint operations in the two cities.
A U.S. law enforcement source told Reuters the alleged plot was not linked with last week's Boston Marathon bombings....
U.S. officials admit Boston jihadis motivated by Islam

From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer

No kidding, really? This took this long for them to admit because they were hoping they could find some way to spin it away. "Officials: Boston suspects motivated by religion," by David Crary for the Associated Press, April 22 (thanks to EH):
Preliminary evidence suggests the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings were motivated by religion but not tied to any terrorist groups, two U.S. officials say.
BOSTON — The two brothers suspected of bombing the Boston Marathon appear to have been motivated by a radical brand of Islam but do not seem connected to any Muslim terrorist groups, U.S. officials said Monday after interrogating and charging Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with crimes that could bring the death penalty.
Tsarnaev, 19, was charged in his hospital room, where he was in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the throat and other injuries suffered during his attempted getaway.
His older brother, Tamerlan, 26, died Friday after a fierce gunbattle with police.
The Massachusetts college student was charged with using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction. He was accused of joining with his brother in setting off the shrapnel-packed pressure-cooker bombs that killed three people and wounded more than 200 a week ago.
The brothers, ethnic Chechens from Russia who had been living in the U.S. for about a decade, practiced Islam.
Two U.S. officials said preliminary evidence from the younger man's interrogation suggests the brothers were motivated by religious extremism but were apparently not involved with Islamic terrorist organizations....
Op-ed:
Given Miranda rights...the cover-up begins         By: Diane Sori
Furious...you're damn right I'm furious as the federal government refuses to declare Dzhokhar Tsarnaev an 'enemy combatant.'
Of course they wouldn't...that would be admitting that one of the brethren was a jihadist and we know Barack HUSSEIN Obama, who even has trouble saying the words 'muslim terrorists,' would NEVER allow this...I should say Obama and his muslim sympathizing cohorts Chuck Hagel and John Brennan would NEVER allow this.
Instead, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was charged, in an affidavit giving NO motive for the bombing, in a criminal complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, with one count of using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction against persons and property within the United States resulting in death, and one count of malicious destruction of property by means of a weapon of mass destruction resulting in death.  Uh, excuse me but there were two bombs NOT one...how about two counts on each charge being brought against him.

Oooops, how can I forget...must protect the brethren.

The charges presented, however, are capital charges under federal statutes and therefore carry the maximum penalty of death, but you know as well as I do that that will NEVER happen, because there's already talk that Tsarnaev's age could be a mitigating factor in his final sentencing.

His age...how about the age of little eight year old Martin Richard killed and his six year old sister maimed for life...how about our children, younger than him...18-year olds sent off to see and live the horrors of war caused by these bast*rds...but NO...lets coddle the terrorist by all means.

It's enough to make me want to puke.

And isn't it odd that NO counts are being brought against him for the first degree MURDER of MIT police officer Sean Collier and the critically wounding of transit officer Richard Donohue, who thankfully will survive.

But aren't we lucky that US Attorney General Eric Holder says the investigation is still on-going and maybe down the road those charges will be added. Lets see...Collier is dead and Donohue lies critically injured but hey, under this administration their lives apparently mean nothing.

And Eric 'Fast & Furious' Holder then had the audacity to say "Although our investigation is ongoing, today's charges bring a successful end to a tragic week for the city of Boston, and for our country."

A successful end...NO I don't thinks so as there is NO successful end as long as this miserable administration still will NOT admit that MUSLIM terrorists...MUSLIM jihadists...did this and continue to operate in our country, and are hell bent on killing us...as many of us as possible. And there will be NO successful end as long as they sit back, placate, and make excuses for these bast*rds.

Placating them includes NOT charging this miserable young man as an 'enemy combatant' for this administration claims Dzhokhar Tsarnaev doesn't fit the term 'enemy combatant' because, as of yet, they can't tie him to al-Qaeda or another terrorist group. But I say bullsh*t for this young man and his brother brought the war to our shores...the MUSLIM initiated war on those who refuse to cow-tow to the phony pseudo-god allah and the political system hiding behind the guise of calling itself a religion...islam.

And now we have Obama mouthpiece Jay Carney rubbing salt into the still open wounds even more by bloviating, "He will NOT be treated as an enemy combatant...we will prosecute this terrorist (even he can't say the words, 'MUSLIM terrorist') through civilian system of justice. Under US law, United States citizens cannot be tried in military commissions."

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a naturalized US citizen...naturalized on September 12, 2012.

But I beg to differ as sometimes the designation 'enemy combatant' is indeed used against terrorists...even terrorist that are US citizens. The Supreme Court in Ex parte Quirin, 317 U.S. 1, 37-38 (1942): “Citizens who associate themselves with the military arm of the enemy government, and with its aid, guidance and direction enter this country bent on hostile acts are enemy belligerents within the meaning of the Hague Convention and the law of war.”

The two brothers most definitely meet this criteria as older brother Tamerlan went back to Chechnya, where it's believed he received terrorist training from al-Qaeda operatives, and we are indeed at war with al-Qaeda, and he indeed came back here hell bent on committing hostile acts against the people of the United States with Dzhokhar in tow.

The authority to detain enemy combatants comes from Article II of the Constitution, and the President has unquestioned authority to detain 'enemy combatants' including those who are US citizens, during wartime...and we are at war...the war on terror whether Barack HUSSEIN Obama cares to admit it or NOT and we are still engaged in war in Afghanistan, and still pulling out of the Iraq theater of war.

And being that the bombings were inspired by radical islamic ideology, it was critical that Tsarnaev be charged under 'the rules of war' so he could be handed over to US intelligence for questioning as an 'enemy combatant' even if he wasn't charged in a military court. That would have allowed authorities to take their time interrogating him. After all, he might know about future attacks or terrorist organizations that may be operating on our soil.

So why NOT that designation...because that would implicate more of the brethren and that could NOT be allowed by this administration, especially after the FBI screw-up with older brother Tamerlan...so into the civilian justice system this case goes.

The civilian system of justice...what a joke and what an insult to those killed, their families, and those maimed for life. Our civilian system where criminals get released and the innocent wallow in prison for crimes they didn't commit.

And as expected, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, after being read his Miranda rights (the right to remain silent), was assigned federal public defenders but don't think for a minute that bleeding heart liberal lawyers, trying to capitalize of this horrendous act of war to make a name for themselves, won't be fighting tooth and nail to see who will get 'the honor' of painting Tsarnaev as the victim and the victims as merely unfortunates being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And all the 'prison groupies' will be out in full force yelling that the death penalty is inhumane...all the while forgetting the inhumane acts of terror the two brothers committed.

A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for May 30 in US District Court...and so the whitewashing and cover-up of the Boston Marathon Bombing begins.
