Indoctrinating for jihad in charter schools

Exclusive: Pamela Geller has quotes from insider teacher about 'The Gulen Movement'

By: Pamela Geller / WND COmmentary

The “Turkish Khomeini,” Fethullah Gulen, lives in Pennsylvania. From there he runs a $25 billion international network. He is a prime mover behind the rapid Islamization of Turkey, and he urges Muslims to build schools to indoctrinate an entire generation. He is tied to hundreds of Gulen charter schools right here in the United States. (Texas alone has 36 of these Gulen charter schools.)

I recently heard from a teacher at a Gulen Movement school. “There are so many ethical violations occurring here every day,” he told me, “that it is hard to know where to start.” And worse, there is open support for jihad: When news broke of the Boston Marathon jihad bombings, several students defended the attack and expressed concern for the well-being not of the victims, but of the bombers.

“They have also,” said the teacher, “expressed theories that 9/11 was a hoax and that Americans and the West are Islamophobic.”

Beyond that, the educational standards and priorities are abominable. “This school cares little for education and more for PR,” says the teacher. The administration, he says, doesn’t appear to have any background or training in either education or leadership. “Our vice principal has no idea what he is doing; this is evident in the fact that no one can ever find him, and he does not seem to know even basic information about mission statements, curriculum, standards, etc.” The dean of academics “does not even know what is in our curriculum, and he has frequently asked teachers to go easier so that students can get good grades.”

That could be said of many schools. But in this Gulen school, “as far as curriculum goes, the priority is Islam, not education. Evolution and Darwin are forbidden in biology, and literature classes are censored in order to ensure no one talks about relationships. In fact, ‘Persepolis’ was pulled from the classroom because it spoke poorly of veiling (despite being written by a woman who lived through the Iranian Revolution) and because the writer was ‘the wrong kind of Muslim.’ In addition, students asked to see the film ‘The Great Gatsby’ in junior year, as they read the novel in class (obviously). It was forbidden because it was ‘too sexual.’ The movie has not come out yet, of course, but is rated PG-13; the decision was made based on a preview.”

The school doesn’t have a library, teacher evaluations are nonexistent, and “the cheating here is rampant – and encouraged. Students have broken into teachers’ rooms; they not only steal tests but they also think that the entirety of the building exists for them alone.” Not only that, but “in the dorms, the students are ‘chaperoned’ by several young Turkish men who do not speak English. The chaperones are tasked with ensuring that the students adhere to Islam, and they have meetings in the dorms to pressure kids into practicing their faith. School days are planned around Islamic prayer (Fridays are shortened, for example; during the winter months, there is a 90-minute break in the middle of the day for lunch and prayer). The school is registered as nonsectarian, yet every student is Muslim.”

When all of the teachers were fingerprinted and had background checks per state law, the chaperones were not required to do so. It will come as no surprise that the finances of the school are suspicious at best. Staff is paid sporadically, and there have been numerous occasions this year when they were not paid on time.

The teacher concludes: “There are so many things that are happening here that this is only the tip of the iceberg. What amazes me is that they are still in business. They seem to have local politicians in their pockets. In addition to the ethical problems this school poses, I am also concerned with the real reason for its existence. Clearly academics are not important, but is this simply a moneymaking scheme? Is it a visa factory to bring in more and more Turkish nationals? Or is it something more sinister, an attempt to guarantee that Islam is being followed in America as well as overseas?”

Whatever the truth may be, it needs to come out. Gulen Movement schools in the U.S. must be investigated.
Teach gun safety in classrooms and leave sex education to parents. Plan B won’t save young people from incurable STDs, but guns will protect women and children from being raped or murdered. The more young people know about guns, the safer our society will be.

Rush Limbaugh said on his talk radio show on May 1: “We know kids are gonna get guns anyway, why not teach them how to use them?” The king of talk was right. Instead of pushing morning-after pills on 15-year-old girls, we should be showing young people how to responsibly use the preeminent tool they have to defend themselves in the event of a violent attack—a gun.

Over the past decade, overall violent crime in the United States has steadily decreased according to FBI reports. Meanwhile, gun ownership is at an all-time high. The FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is one of the best ways to gauge the number of new gun purchases. In 2011, there was an all-time record high of 16.5 million checks. In 2012, Americans set a new record for gun ownership: 19.5 million background checks.

Americans use guns to hold off assault far more than they use guns to commit murder or violent crime. Indeed, Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck has shown that Americans use guns to defensively prevent crime about 2 million times a year—often by merely brandishing a weapon in front of a would-be-assailant. “…most violent crimes end if the victim simply exposes a firearm.

Most criminals want to leave the scene with the same number of holes they started with,” writes Michael Martin in his book, Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals.

On top of all this, the only gun legislation that has consistently been shown to reduce violent crime is concealed carry permit legislation.

All of the data on guns and crime brings us to one conclusion: More guns in the hands of honest Americans equates to less violent crime.

Here are three ‘solutions’ to mass shootings that will NOT work:

1.) Background Checks
Even Democrats admit that background checks don’t work. When they have a slip of the tongue and speak their mind, they say things like this: “…let’s be honest, criminals aren’t going to buy a gun and go through a background check.” (That is exactly what Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY recently said.)
Dr. John Lott writes for Fox News: “There is no real scientific evidence among criminologists and economists that background checks actually reduce crime.”

2.) Gun Free Zones
You can’t stop a criminal with a sign. But you can welcome a criminal with a sign that says: “Gun Free Zone,” which a criminal interprets as: “Walk Right In… And Bring Your Guns!”

Adam Lanza specifically went to a ‘gun free zone’ to fatally shoot 20 children and six adults in the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy. He brought guns into an elementary school, not into the Pentagon.

3.) Psychiatric Drugs
More and more, psychiatric drugs are being miss-prescribed or abused and President Obama’s FDA is contributing to this mess. Medications are increasingly being prescribed to young people that could be setting them up for violent behavior. Instead of prescribing talk therapy, we are loading young people up on meds that are known to cause suicidal thoughts and/or incite aggression.

Lanza was mentally unstable. Mentally unstable people do not follow “rules” printed on signs.

Mentally unstable people do unpredictable things.

If you look at every mass school shooting over the past 15 years, they almost all have one thing in common, according to Lawrence Hunter of the Social Security Institute: The gunman: “…has been on or in withdrawal from psychiatric drugs…Yet, federal and state governments continue to ignore the connection between psychiatric drugs and murderous violence, preferring instead to exploit these tragedies in an oppressive and unconstitutional power grab to snatch guns away from innocent, law-abiding people.”

Big pharmacy is peddling drugs to youngsters that have highly questionable side effects and Hunter says: “It is pharmaceutical makers, not law-abiding gun owners or gun manufacturers, who should be held to account for the series of ‘lone-wolf’ mass shootings that have occurred since the widespread use of psychiatric drugs began.”

Expert psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin has told Fox News: “One of the things in the past that we’ve known about depression is that it very, very rarely leads to violence. It’s only been since the advent of these new SSRI drugs that we have murderers, sometimes even mass murderers, taking antidepressant drugs.”

When you look at the facts, guns save lives. And the more comfortable and knowledgeable we are regarding guns, the more lives we will save. It’s time for young people to go through gun education before their teachers brainwash them about gun control.

The NRA: Representing More Than the Second Amendment

By: Katie Pavlich / Townhall Clumnist

HOUSTON, TX. - If you’ve been to any of the National Rifle Association’s annual meetings, you’ll understand what I mean when I say the gathering is a true representation of what makes America exceptional.

This year, the NRA held its annual meetings and convention in Houston and was attended by more than 85,000 people. Last year it was held in St. Louis and the year before in Pittsburgh. Over the past few months, the NRA has seen their membership balloon and just last Friday, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre announced the organization has reached 5 million members.

The common thing that brings all of these people together is obviously a celebration of the Second Amendment and the guaranteed right embedded in our Constitution for the people to keep and bear arms without infringement, but there are many other common American values and themes found at the convention that are often overlooked.

Capitalism:

Each year no matter the venue, the NRA convention center floor is an amazing example of capitalism as hundreds of companies show and sell thousands of different products. Major companies from Midway USA to Remington to Ruger are there in addition to smaller start ups who have been able to find a comfortable home in the firearms industry. The NRA advertises the convention as “acres and acres of gear,” something that isn’t possible without embracing the ideas of competition, the free market, choice and entrepreneurship.

Free Speech:

The NRA annual meetings aren’t just about looking at all the new gear available on the convention floor. There are many seminars and speeches where people with both big and small voices can be heard. Only in America can you have speakers standing in front of a crowd of thousands to directly call out the President of the United States by name without persecution or punishment. Only in America do you see thousands of people peacefully standing up and saying ‘no’ to an infringement on their rights.

Equality:

The National Rifle Association is the oldest civil rights organization in the United States and serves as one of the most important in the world. After all, without the Second Amendment, there is no First.  Founded in 1871, the NRA has always promoted equality of rights for everyone.

As a reminder:
Following the firebombing of his house in 1956, Dr. Martin Luther King, who was, among other things, a Christian minister, applied for a gun permit, but the Alabama authorities found him unsuitable. A decade later, he won a Nobel Peace Prize.

How's that "may issue" gun permit policy working for you?
The NRA opposed these discretionary gun permit laws and proceeded to grant NRA charters to blacks who sought to defend themselves from Klan violence -- including the great civil rights hero Robert F. Williams.

A World War II Marine veteran, Williams returned home to Monroe, N.C., to find the Klan riding high -- beating, lynching and murdering blacks at will. No one would join the NAACP for fear of Klan reprisals. Williams became president of the local chapter and increased membership from six to more than 200.

But it was not until he got a charter from the NRA in 1957 and founded the Black Armed Guard that the Klan got their comeuppance in Monroe.

Williams' repeated thwarting of violent Klan attacks is described in his stirring book, "Negroes With Guns." In one crucial battle, the Klan sieged the home of a black physician and his wife, but Williams and his Black Armed Guard stood sentry and repelled the larger, cowardly force. And that was the end of it.

As the Klan found out, it's not so much fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

The NRA's proud history of fighting the Klan has been airbrushed out of the record by those who were complicit with the KKK, Jim Crow and racial terror, to wit: the Democrats.
Women are the fastest growing demographic in the country and this fact was clearly embraced at this year’s convention. The NRA has launched an entire media organization dedicated to women with role models like Second Amendment advocate Natalie Foster and shooting champion Julie Golob leading the way. There is nothing more empowering as a woman than to be able to understand how to protect yourself.

As the old saying goes, “God made man and God made woman. Sam Colt made them equal.”

Individual Responsibility:

There were thousands of guns at the NRA annual meetings and not one jumped up and killed someone, imagine that. Each and every person who is a member of the NRA and attends the annual meeting understands the important and basic fundamental principle of individual responsibility, especially when it comes to owning a firearm. The NRA understands and promotes this idea through education, Refuse to Be a Victim courses, legal self-defense courses and more. Those who choose to participate in educating themselves about how firearms work and their proper use, only make themselves more responsible. After all, an educated gun owner is a responsible gun owner.

Despite what we’ve heard from the politicians in Washington and the media elites living in ivory towers protected by armed guards, the NRA is in fact full of good people and does well to represent many of the values Americans hold dear.

Good news: CIA promises to continue giving shopping bags of U.S. taxpayer cash to Karzai

From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." -- Qur'an 9:29

We recently saw that a jihad-martyrdom suicide bomber lived off Swedish student aid. And as British jihadist Anjem Choudary said: "The normal situation is to take money from the kuffar. You work, give us the money, Allahu akbar." But those are just individuals. Karzai has them all beat: he is raking it in for his entire gang, a.k.a. the "Afghan government."

"Karzai: CIA promises to continue cash payments," by Qadir Sediqi and Chelsea J. Carter for CNN, May 5:
(CNN) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai says he has received assurances from the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency's station chief in Kabul that it will continue delivering cash, as it has for the past decade, to his offices.
"Yes, we received cash from the CIA for the past 10 years. It was very useful, and we are very thankful for this aid," the president said during a news conference Saturday in Kabul.
"Yesterday, I thanked the CIA's chief in Kabul and I requested their continued help, and they promised that they will continue."
Karzai's comments follow last week's report by The New York Times that the CIA has been dropping off shopping bags full of money every month or so for more than a decade to the offices of the Afghan president.
"This is not unusual," he told reporters, adding that the money was spent by his office and the national security office for a variety of purposes, including paying salaries, helping the war wounded and providing scholarships.
Karzai dismissed questions about why such money, not in state coffers, was needed for what he described as government expenses.
"This is the choice of the American government," he said....
Op-ed:
Israel...a nation of strength and courage
By: Diane Sori

Israel has warned time and again that they would attack Syria if they believed Bashar al-Assad's army was delivering weapons to Hezbollah...well a few short days Israel did just that as they took out a Damascus warehouse housing weapons that would be used against them.

With Israel now in a state of high alert, moving two Iron Dome systems to the northern area of the country, with the Israeli Airport Authority closing airspace in the central and northern areas to all civil aviation, and with it's embassies worldwide being placed on alert, Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement that Israel’s only interest in bombing the Damascus warehouse was to prevent advanced weaponry from reaching Hezbollah NOT regime change in Damascus.

And how did Assad responded to those words...by alluding to what is a declaration of war on Israel in retaliation, forgetting that a technical state of war already exists between the two countries, and has since Israel unilaterally annexed the Golan Heights in 1981, and by bloviating that Syria's retaliation will come, but will be on their own timetable, and that Israel won't know what is coming or when it's coming.

Yeah right (insert sarcastic voice here).

This latest attack, the second within three days, specifically targeted a shipment of advanced surface-to-surface Iranian-made Fateh-110s...a mobile, accurate, solid-fueled missile that has the range to strike Tel Aviv and much of Israel from southern Lebanon...missiles that were on their way to Hezzbolah through the arms pipeline that runs directly from Syria to Hezbollah in Gaza.

So the tensions in the Middle East have just been upped a notch for by doing what they did Israel showed the world that once again they are a force to be reckoned with.

Immediately after the attack Syrian state-run television reported that the Israeli attack was on a research facility, and that the attack aided the rebels fighting government forces in the area. And the government's Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) claimed mortar shells fired by terrorists damaged residential neighborhood. But as expected, these reports gave NO details about what type of research occurred at the facility or what civilian areas were damaged, because as Israel claims it was NOT a research facility the bombed but a weapons storage warehouse at Damascus International Airport...a warehouse that was under the control of operatives from Hezbollah and Iran’s paramilitary, very nasty Quds Force.

And least we forget, Iran has been sending weapons to Syria for decades and is Assad's staunchest ally. So might Israel's strike on Syria be a prelude to going into Iran. Just something that very well might be a possibility as Iran has sought to use the threat of a Hezbollah missile attack on Israeli as a means of building up its Syrian ally...an ally being used as a deterrent and warning to Israel that they dare NOT strike their nuclear 'for peaceful uses' (gag) facilities.

And how did this alliance between these two counties begin...briefly, the Iran/Syria alliance grew out of a common cause against two common enemies. First, Syria wants back the Golan Heights lost to Israel in the '67 War, and to keep veto power over Lebanese politics. Second, Iran wants to be a nuclear power, the only Arab nuclear power in the region. Third, Iran also wants to be a dominant force in the Middle East itself making sure they ultimately rule in Iraq. Fourth, both want to protect Arab interests and islamic interests (secular Arabic interests in the case of Syria and islamic ideological interests in the case of Iran) throughout the region. Fifth, both Iran and Hezbollah have backed President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war. And lastly, and most telling...both Syria and Iran want to see Israel wiped off the map.

So with Syria's goal being secular and Iran's being islamic, this ensures that the two do NOT step on each others toes as this alliance is defensive in nature, aimed for the most part at destroying Israeli military capabilities if NOT Israel itself, and preventing even more American involvement in the Middle East than already exists.

And what of Barack HUSSEIN Obama in all this...the man who is NO friend to Israel. Obama has refused to comment about the newest strike except to say his standard teleprompted line delivered with fingers crossed behind his back, "The Israelis, justifiably, have to guard against the transfer of advanced weaponry to terrorist organizations like Hezbollah."

'Israeli's have to guard against'...is that the best this man can do for our ally and friend. So once again Israel will go it alone and do what needs to be done without America standing side-by-side with them, and that my fiends is one sad commentary that could very well come back to bite us.
