Last Friday, President Barack Obama delivered his long-awaited speech addressing recent revelations that the federal government, especially the National Security Agency (NSA), has been engaged in a massive program surveilling the communications of virtually every American who uses a cell phone or other internet-based device. Obama, who claims to head the most “transparent” presidency ever, spoke glowingly and eloquently how his Administration will move actively to rein in the domestic spying program and strike the proper balance with civil liberties; unfortunately, he did neither.

On cue, of course, the Washington Post -- one of Obama’s most fervent enablers in the nation’s capital – promptly labeled the speech “productive,” and pleaded for patience as the President now undertook the “unsimple [sic] task of filling in the details.” The Post’s gobbledygook notwithstanding, given the lack of substance in the President’s long-winded, 45-minute speech, there is little reason Americans should trust or expect him to fill in the blanks later. In fact, his recent appointment of long-time friend and notorious Big Brother-advocate Cass Sunstein to the White House NSA-review panel, further belies the Commander in Chief’s commitment to “transparency.”

Americans largely have lost patience with this Administration’s pattern of obstructionism. According to a survey conducted immediately after Obama’s speech by the respected PEW/USA Today, a clear majority of Americans -- 53 percent -- still oppose the NSA’s daily collection of billions of phone calls, text messages and internet communications. The poll also suggested public opinion of the NSA remained unchanged after Obama’s speech, which was full of typical post-9/11 rhetoric, but woefully short on specifics.

At the Guardian, Glen Greenwald -- the reporter who worked with Edward Snowden to shine the first light on the NSA’s extra-legal activity -- called Obama’s reforms “little more than a PR attempt to mollify the public,” and concluded they would change nothing. “He drapes the banner of change over systematic status quo perpetuation,” wrote Greenwald.

The fundamental problem is not the “transparency” of the federal government’s spy programs, but their unconstitutionality. It cannot be put clearer than this: It is a violation of the Constitution’s Fourth Amendment for the federal government to surreptitiously and without warrant or reasonable suspicion, gather data on the private communications of law-abiding American citizens based on nothing more than the government’s assertion that such information might possibly help identify a suspected terrorist, or foil a possible plot at some point in the future.

The facts bear out the problem in the government’s shaky justification for the massive data-basing of communications information. Despite Obama’s repetitive, “the-sky-is-falling” rhetoric, a study of 225 terror cases since 9/11 shows the NSA’s unconstitutional surveillance program “has had no discernible impact on preventing acts of terrorism,” and that often the government’s terrorism claims are “overblown” and “misleading.”

Moreover, the manner in which the government has exploited and abused the powers granted it in the USA PATRIOT Act -- such as vastly increasing the use of the so-called “business record” power to scoop up unlimited cell phone records -- is illustrative of the magnitude of the manner in which the government has been violating the privacy rights of the citizenry. Read carefully, Obama’s words make clear he has no intention of reining in such abuses to any meaningful extent.

In fact, the President’s speech may actually make matters worse. He purports to limit the government’s massive surveillance efforts without really doing so; and thereby offers us a false sense of security -- providing a shield behind which the agencies and government officials involved (such as Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who likely perjured himself in front of Congress while testifying about the NSA last year), can hide as Uncle Sam continues his march into the Surveillance State.
Not so fast, Andrew Cuomo. We see what you did there. After publicly bashing conservative New Yorkers as "extreme" people who have no place in his state, the intolerant Democratic governor wants to blame the media for his unmistakable contempt for those who oppose abortion, support gun rights and defend traditional marriage.

Newsflash: Crapweasel politicians can backtrack and scapegoat, but they can't hide.

When he railed against socially conservative Republican candidates in a radio interview last week, Cuomo hyperbolically singled out those he called "right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay" citizens. Sounding unapologetically purge-tastic, the governor said these political opponents "have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are." His bigoted comments provoked a fierce social-media-driven backlash led by devout Catholics and Second Amendment activists in the Empire State. And now, he's got job-creating, tax-paying conservative business people threatening to leave. Heckuva job, Andy!

In a desperate damage control attempt, Cuomo issued a statement claiming that the New York Post "distorted" his words. It's always the messenger's fault. The Shove Guv also accused his critics of being "entirely reckless with facts and the truth." Really? There was no equivocation in Cuomo's political eviction wish. Whether he was talking about conservative candidates and/or the voters and donors who support them, you can't get any clearer than "have no place in the state of New York."

Translation: You don't belong. Pack your bags. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. Scram.

All of his lefty friends on MSNBC and at Soros Central may be cheering Cuomo on, but this marginalization strategy is bound to backfire. Here in Colorado, supposedly moderate Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper threw in with the radical gun-control crowd and is now paying the price.

Major businesses have left the state. Two leading state Democratic legislators were recalled last fall by grassroots campaigns outspent 8-to-1 by gun-control forces underwritten by New York Nanny Stater Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates.

Reminder: It wasn't just "extreme conservatives" who revolted. Pueblo Democrat Angela Giron lost in her Obama-loving Democratic Senate District 3 by a whopping 12 points.

Another state Democrat and staunch gun-control extremist, Evie Hudak, resigned in disgrace last November rather than face the wrath of the independent recallers. Once a hot 2016 Democratic presidential prospect, Hickenlooper's approval ratings have plunged.

Cuomo also has set himself up for an unforgettable schooling by hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers who are gathering in Washington, D.C., this week for the 41st annual March for Life. "I am guessing that Andrew Cuomo's remarks are going to be repeated by every speaker on the platform," Stasia Zoladz Vogel, president of the Buffalo Regional Right to Life Committee, predicted in the Buffalo News before the Wednesday march.

As for Cuomo's reckless dismissal of what he considers an "extreme" minority, a recent poll of New Yorkers showed that the vast majority "support sensible restrictions on abortions, with 80 percent opposing unlimited abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy and 75 percent opposing changes in current law so that someone other than a doctor can perform an abortion." Contrary to Cuomo's distorted view, the 21st-century pro-life movement is a diverse convergence of increasingly young and minority activists, feminist pro-lifers, independents and social conservatives. And contrary to Cuomo's reckless telling of history, pro-life activism is ingrained in New York history.

The suffragists who famously met at Seneca Falls, N.Y., were ardent advocates for life. They didn't mince words. Elizabeth Cady Stanton condemned the "murder of children, either before or after birth." Alice Paul, who crusaded for the Equal Rights Amendment, called abortion "the ultimate exploitation of women." Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, as Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser pointed out in her review of pro-life feminism, was horrified by the abortion industry and the women who enabled it:

"The gross perversion and destruction of motherhood by the abortionist filled me with indignation, and awakened active antagonism. That the honorable term 'female physician' should be exclusively applied to those women who carried on this shocking trade seemed to me a horror. It was an utter degradation of what might and should become a noble position for women."

Now we know where Andrew Cuomo would have stood had he been around when pro-life suffragists came knocking on New York's doors: blocking their way.

Cuomo insists he "respects" all of the people he dumped on last week. Yet, he continues to willfully mischaracterize their positions and smear them as dangerous haters. It's telling that he employs the partisan pejorative labels "anti-gay" and "pro-assault weapon" alongside "right to life." As if endorsing the "right to life" is in itself an act of bigotry or a horrific, unspeakable crime.

There are no do-overs: Cuomo rolled out the unwelcome mat and announced a new state of intolerance. His undemocratic extremism is as extreme as it gets. Out: "I Love New York." In: "New York Hates You." Let the homebuyer, business owner, taxpayer, voter and visitor beware

Muslim anti-Semitism is only decades old, Obama claims

  / Jihad Watch

ObamaJan14He was only about 1,400 years off. “Muslim anti-Semitism is only decades old, Obama claims,” by Neil Munro in the Daily Caller, January 21:
Experts are scoffing at President Barack Obama’s apparent belief that widespread Muslim hatred of Jews is only decades old.
“Obama reveals that he has no idea, or doesn’t want to give the impression that he has any idea, about the reality of Islamic anti-Semitism,” said Robert Spencer, the author of many books on Islamic ideas and director of Jihad Watch.
“Anti-Semitism is hard-wired into Islam,” from its origins before 700, said Andrew Bostom, author of three books about Islam, including “The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism,” which lists centuries of anti-Semitic hatred, murders, pogroms and apartheid-like discrimination.
Intellectuals, politicians and diplomats are loath to admit the centrality of anti-Semitism in Islamic beliefs, because it fuels conflict with Israel and the West and it can’t be fixed by Westerners, Bostom said. ”You’re dealing with an intractable situation, and people hate intractable situations,” he said, adding “diplomats are the worst.”
In an interview with The New Yorker magazine, Obama described the Muslim hatred of Israel as byproduct of recent fights, not as a consequence of Islam’s doctrinal objection to any Jewish government.
“With respect to Israel, the interests of Israel in stability and security are actually very closely aligned with the interests of the Sunni states,” Obama said.
The “Sunni states” are nations populated by Arabs who believe in the mainstream Sunni version of Islam. In contrast, Iran advocates the Shia version of Islam, which is endorsed by roughly 10 percent of Muslims.
“What’s preventing them from entering into even an informal alliance [against Shia-run Iran] with at least normalized diplomatic relations is not that their interests are profoundly in conflict but the Palestinian issue, as well as a long history of anti-Semitism that’s developed over the course of decades there, and anti-Arab sentiment that’s increased inside of Israel based on seeing [Jewish] buses being blown up,” Obama said….
Obama’s “course of decades” comment “ignores the numerous anti-Semitic teachings of the Quran and other Islamic texts — most notably the Quran’s designation of the Jews as the worst enemies of the believers,” Spencer said.
For example, Spencer cited the fifth chapter of the Quran, which declares that “If [Jews] believed in Allah and the Prophet and that which is revealed unto him, they would not choose them for their friends. But many of them are of evil conduct. Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters.”
The quote is Qur’an 5:82.
The Jew-hatred in the Quran is critical, said Bostom, because orthodox Muslims believe the Quran is a word-for-word copy of a divine book resting on a table in “jannah,” or the Islamic version of heaven. Most Christians believe most of their Bible is open for interpretation, but for Muslims, the Quran is “permanent and perfect. … It applies to all time, it is eternal, it is a pure, divine, eternal form of reality,” Bostom told The Daily Caller.
Islamic traditions also blame a Jewish woman for poisoning their prophet Muhammad, who is credited by Muslims with creating Islam. Several Jews tribes in Saudi Arabia were enslaved, murdered or exiled during the early 600s by Muhammad’s armies, according to Islamic traditions.
The Quran’s words created and maintain Islamic anti-Semitism, which is so ubiquitous that even sects of Sunni and Shia Muslims who are trying to kill each other agree that Jews are to blame for their fighting, he said….
Obama “seems to be attributing the rise in anti-Semitism in Arab culture to the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, which ignores the many anti-Jewish pogroms that took place in that area before the founding of the State of Israel,” said Spencer.
The view fortified his mistaken belief that he can reform the Arab world, Spencer says. ”His hubris is founded upon his ignorance,” Spencer added.
“No well-informed individual could possibly think himself capable of overturning hatreds that are founded in religious texts that are over a millennium old and are still revered by hundreds of millions of people as the perfect and unalterable word of the deity,” Spencer said.

Hey Obama...it's time to put the race card to bed
By: Diane Sori

Dear Mr. Obama,

While I know it's proper form is to address you as Mr. President, but as one of the proud 47+% who refused to buy into your liberal socialist agenda, and as one who respects and honors the office of the presidency, I just cannot in good conscious address you by that title for your usurping of the presidency through voter fraud and intimidation, machine tampering, and denying our military's votes to be counted, I would then be dishonoring that very office if I did so.

So Mr. Obama, let's cut the formalities and get right into it...stop trying to use race to intimidate and shame 'We the People' into marching in lockstep with you and your race-baiting buddies...Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Eric Holder, and Louis Farrakhan...and your so-overplayed collective guilt trip for slavery as it will NO longer work.  Slavery ended in America 150+ years ago in case you've forgotten, and 'We the People' are fed up with it being thrown in our faces every chance you and your buddies get for NO one alive today owned slaves...period.

Next, Mr. Obama you are NOT America's first black president...you are America's first mixed race/bi-racial president as your mother was 100% white...you're half-W.H.I.T.E Mr. Obama ...the very racial group you so hate but have NO problem putting your hand out to and accepting contributions to your party from.

And while there's NO problem with your reveling in your long ago college-found 'blackness,' please let's put the race card to rest here and now for remember Mr. Obama, America is still predominately white and you were voted in twice by that very white majority you now claim is against you because they can't deal with America having a black president.

"There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President,” you whined in a recent interview.

Come on Mr. Obama you really can't believe that for do you think white America suddenly and miraculously discovered you were black...half-black that is...after five tumultuous years in office.  Did it ever cross your mind that it's your policies and politics...its ObamaCare, spying on 'We the People,' and Benghazi...it's the far left direction you've taken our country into...it's the scandals, the LIES, and the cover-ups...it's the catering to America's enemies as you defame our military and veterans every chance you get...it's your deliberate ripping off of healed over racial scars that have now set American race relations back years...it's your total disregard and disrespect for our Constitution...it's your arrogance and narcissism...it's all this and so much more that we don't like and the color of your skin plays NO...I repeat NO...part in that dislike even while in your own perceived perception every time someone speaks up or goes against what you say or want you whine it's because of your race.

It's NOT and deep down I think you know it's NOT, but I guess outwardly on the surface you haven't figured that out yet because if you opened your eyes...and stopped taking vacations on our hard earned taxpayer dime...and saw the reality around you you'd discover millions of Americans still out of work...our economy still limping along at best...our seemingly losing Iraq because you don't know what it takes to be a Commander-in-Chief...our becoming a laughing stock in the eyes of world leaders...and that you have done absolutely NOTHING of substance to improve the lot of black Americans who you made so many promises to five short years ago.  And it's so sad that the very people who you want to keep control over so they dare NOT realize that they're being used for votes by you and your liberal Democratic ilk are the very people who look up to you as the man who crossed and conquered the racial divide. NO Mr. Obama, your race place NO part in any of that...your sellout of America and the American people of all colors is what we don't like.

So Mr. Obama, let's cut to the chase and please try to accept some truth for a change...some truth that for you racism is an emotional cash-cow...you use it to keep those in your orbit in line...you use it to keep Congress in line...and you try to use it to keep 'We the People' in line.  You can in NO way accept the fact that it's both easier and advantageous politically to claim that some in America are against you simply because they don't like the color of your skin than it is for you to accept the truth that to do otherwise would force you to face the one thing you dare NOT face...admitting that your policies, laws, and decisions are all failures...with many decisions made and policies set in haste so you could jet-off to yet another fundraiser...for it then shifts the blame off the Republican House...off the TEA Party...and puts it directly back on you where it so rightly belongs.  And being the narcissist that you are...taking responsibility for your own actions is as foreign to you as when your muslim brethren DHS Security Adviser Mohamed Elibiary saidAmerica is an Islamic country with an Islamically compliant constitution,” is to us.

And so Mr. Obama, as we head into the upcoming mid-term elections we on the right know that you will be pulling out the race card every chance you get in an effort to save a Senate that is heading towards RED but for the sake of this country...for the sake of all those Americans hurting because of your misguided policies...for the sake of our brave troops fighting to win 'the hearts and minds of the enemy' instead of being allowed to fight to win...isn't it time to put the race card to bed as it's done its job in dividing America in ways we haven't seen in decades and that is something you built... something you own...something you must be called to task for.

And let my voice be added to the growing list of others calling for just that.

Signed,
An American Patriot who's had ENOUGH!
