Mark Zuckerberg’s lawyers: No liability in Facebook’s mishandling of millions’ personal data

By Alex Swoyer - The Washington Times

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testifies before a joint hearing of the Commerce and Judiciary Committees on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, about the use of Facebook data to target American voters in the 2016 election. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg admitted Tuesday that his company made mistakes, but his lawyers are insisting they have no liability for mishandling millions of people’s most personal data

Facing multiple lawsuits, including a new class-action complaint this week, Facebook says it followed the law, its own rules and a previous settlement with the U.S. government closely enough that it can’t be held liable.

“Facebook broke no laws and violated no legal duties,” said Facebook’s lawyers from Gibson Dunn in a filing Friday, as lawyers tried to figure out how to handle more than a dozen cases already filed in the wake of revelations that the company’s data was harvested and used by a political consultancy with ties to the Trump campaign in 2016.

But the paper has definitely put its smear machine […]

Publisher Sued by Holocaust Survivors for Printing Books Praising Adolf Hitler, Nazis
By Geller Report Staff

Two Holocaust survivors as well as a Polish anti-Nazi resistance fighter kicked off a lawsuit against Katmar publishers, accusing the company of violating their rights as persons and their dignity for taking to print some books that praised Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime.

It’s the first of its kind in Poland.

Ynet News has more:

The lawsuit, filed on Friday in a Warsaw court under Articles 23 and 24 of the civil code, alleges that the Katmar publications violate the plaintiffs’ rights, including their dignity as persons who suffered under the Nazi German regime in occupied Poland.

One of the plaintiffs fought the Nazis in the doomed 1944 Warsaw Uprising while the two Holocaust survivors were both saved from the Warsaw Ghetto as children. Their family members were killed by the Nazis.
