TransCanada resubmits Keystone application, says no oil flow until 2014
FoxNews.com
The Obama administration said Friday it has received a new application for the Keystone XL pipeline that addresses environmental concerns related to its approval, but no decision is likely before the election.
The resubmitted TransCanada application and the State Department response is sure to add fuel to the election year debate between the Obama campaign and Republicans, who say approving the trans-continental pipeline would significantly help ease the county’s energy problems, including dependency on foreign oil and rising gasoline prices.
The new application for the pipeline -- from the U.S.-Canada border to the Texas Gulf Coast -- essentially includes a revised route through Nebraska.
The State Department, which in January rejected the original application, said Nebraska’s review will take six to nine months, and its “best estimate on when we would complete the national interest determination was the first quarter of 2013.”
The agency said it will determine whether to grant the permit, based on whether it would be in the best interest of the country.
TransCanada said the Canadian regulatory approvals and permits are in place. The U.S. permit is for the section of pipeline that runs from the border in Montana to Steele City, Nebraska.
The company said it already has “firm, long-term contracts” for more than 600,000 barrels of oil a day.
"The multibillion-dollar Keystone XL pipeline project will reduce the United States' dependence on foreign oil and support job growth by putting thousands of Americans to work," said Russ Girling, TransCanada's president and chief executive officer.
Still, the company acknowledged that pipeline construction would not begin until 2013, which wouldn’t get oil flowing from Canada and the Bakken supply basin in Montana and North Dakota to Texas refineries until 2014 or early 2015.
Girling said the new application builds on more than three years of environmental review already conducted for Keystone XL and satisfies President Obama's call to speed infrastructure development through more efficient and effective permitting and review.”
The announcements were made the same day the Labor Department announced U.S. job growth slowed in April for a second straight month. The unemployment rate fell from 8.2 percent in March to 8.1 percent in April, because more people stopped looking for work.
“The cost of gasoline has almost doubled under President Obama,” likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Friday during a speech in Pittsburgh.
He also said the president “doesn’t like oil.”
TransCanada officials said the pipeline would create thousands of much-needed construction and manufacturing jobs and allow Americans to move closer to achieving energy security. The U.S. consumes 14 to 15 million barrels of oil each day, according to the company.
The American Petroleum Institute challenged Obama to approve the pipeline.
"The earth hasn't moved, the geology hasn't changed, the information remains the same, so there should be no reason for a re-review," said company Executive Vice President Marty Durbin.

Op-ed:
Voter fraud...Obama’s hoped for game changer
By: Diane Sori
November 6, 2012...get ready folks because we know full well
that on that day a massive attempt at voter fraud is going to happen! The dead will be out in full force, as will
felons, illegals, and all sorts of unsavory others who should not be voting but
will be, because it’s the only way Barack Hussein Obama can get re-elected. And the liberal media will be right there by
their side making sure it does happen, with NOT a word being heard about it
except when it becomes convenient for them to accuse conservatives of lying
about it even happening.
Let’s face facts, the media is biased and out and out
stacked against any and all Republicans who dare to challenge their
creation...the ‘anointed one’...Barack Hussein Obama. The
media created the myth of a man of ‘Hope and Change;’ a man who was supposed to
save us from ourselves; a man who would take care of us for the rest of our
lives; a man whose socialist agenda they knowingly and willingly helped to support and promote.
And what will ‘We the People’ do...will we sit back and let
this just steamroller over us or will we fight back and let the Obama
controlled media know we are on to them. Fight we must because we absolutely cannot allow the media to help this traitor of a president
rob us of not only our right to vote, but of our right to vote cleanly and
fairly with every legitimate (and legitimate is the key word here), vote
counting.
Every fraudulent vote cast cancels out the vote of an honest,
hardworking, taxpaying American. Every
fraudulent vote cast dishonors and defames those who have given their lives to
afford us the right and privilege of voting.
Every fraudulent vote cast makes a mockery of our country and of our
God...a God whose teachings helped our Founders make America the greatest
nation the world has ever known.
But the liberal media chooses to ignore all this even as laws
are being passed in states across America mandating that people show picture ID
to vote. Under what is obviously Obama’s
urging the media has launched a propaganda campaign to stop states from enacting
such laws. They report time and again that
showing ID is nothing but an effort by us racist conservatives, as they like to
call us, to prevent minorities from voting because it intimidates and disenfranchises
them.
Yeah right...what the media deliberately chooses to NOT to
report is the fact that showing an ID should NOT intimidate or disenfranchise any
legitimate voter who has nothing to hide.
Hell, we have to show ID to write a check, to get a driver’s license, to
open a bank account, to get married, to register to vote...ah-oh...’to register
to vote’ and herein lies the crux of the issue...most of those who find fault
with showing an ID are NOT legally registered to vote, and it just so happens
that most of those are of the minorities that rely on government handouts and
freebies that allows them to live their nonproductive, non-taxpaying lives. You know the minorities that Obama was
counting on to vote for him because he knows they wouldn’t dare vote against
him and bite the hand that feeds them.
So the media ignores the entire issue of voter fraud,
refusing to report even a semblance of the truth, because they know that having
to show an ID is taking too much of a chance of losing votes for Obama’s hoped
for re-election.
Well guess what; ‘We the People’ respect the integrity of
the electoral process too much to allow you media flunkies to get away with
this. You might try to keep your favorite
socialist in office by refusing to report the truth about flagrant voter fraud but
we patriots will be there right behind you disseminating the truth about this
man and what he has done, is doing, and wants to do to our beloved America any
and every way we can.
This I promise you.
How much lower will the U.S. military be forced to bow to Islam before it cracks?
Author: barenakedislamThe U.S. military is in a full-fledged retreat that is marked by such desperation that it qualifies as a rout. No, not the retreat from Afghanistan, where Afghans in uniform are attacking, killing, and wounding American and other coalition troops with increasing frequency as the grip of Islamic Law tightens like a noose around the country.
Clare M. Lopez Not the one in Iraq, either, where an Iranian puppet regime now seems powerless to stop the wave of al-Qa’eda suicide bombings and sits waiting for the next civil war to explode anew. No, the most ignominious retreat that the U.S. military currently is involved in is the one which has top Pentagon officials ordering Defense Department schools to purge all training content that would actually inform military students about the enemy threat doctrine of Islamic jihad and its shariah origins. The stated objective of the dhimmified behavior is to ensure that American warriors never get the idea that the U.S. is at war with Islam—or apparently any realization that Islam is at war with the U.S. either.Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin E. Dempsey, has ordered all Department of Defense (DoD) curricula to be reviewed for anything “disrespectful of the Islamic religion.” Pentagon spokesman Captain John Kirby added helpfully (if not especially grammatically) that the U.S. is “at war with terrorism, specifically with Al Qaeda, who has a warped view of the Islamic faith.”
The surrender statements followed complaints about “anti-Islam” themes which allegedly had been presented in a class called “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism,” taught at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA.
In effect, the scrubbing of truthful — if difficult — material about what is really contained in Islamic doctrine, law and scripture that so motivates the forces of Islamic jihad will bring the U.S. military into compliance with Islamic law on slander. It also brings DoD into line with the capitulation-to-Islam campaigns already underway at the Departments of Homeland Security, Justice and State as well as throughout the Intelligence Community.
Under Islamic law (sharia), “slander” means “to mention anything concerning a person [a Muslim] that he would dislike.” The sayings of the Muslim prophet Muhammad (the hadiths) also discuss slander:
“Do you know what slander is?” They answered, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “It is to mention of your brother that which he would dislike.” Someone asked, “What if he is as I say?” And he replied, “If he is as you say, you have slandered him, and if not, you have calumniated him.” – Sunan Abu DawudWhether these top-ranking DoD officials realize it or not, their actions in purging military training courses of truthful material that a Muslim “would dislike” (because it reflects badly on Islam), is, in fact, tantamount to submission to Islamic law at a time when enemy forces these troops must confront on the field of battle fight precisely in the name of that law (sharia).
Not content to confine its capitulation campaign to the mid-level officer ranks, DoD also aims to set military mindsets straight about Islam early on. West Point cadets continue to participate in what apparently has become a staple of their academy experience: a visit to the Islamic Center of New Jersey, a mosque with a long list of questionable associations and statements by members of its congregation and leadership.
The April 2012 visit by some 23 West Point cadets in U.S. military uniforms to this mosque featured gender separation of the men and women students as well as photographing the women in head scarves, for prominent placement in leading American newspapers. The one-time Imam of this Islamic Center, Sayyid Askar, proclaimed in 2000 that “jihad is an absolute obligation upon those whose land has been occupied.”
And finally, just to make sure that the ranks of the U.S. military better reflect the ethnic diversity not just of the USA, but of places where they may eventually serve, the U.S. Navy SEALs and SWCCs (Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen) are now recruiting at swim programs … in Dearborn, Michigan. That’s right: The U.S. Navy SEALs are looking for young recruits in neighborhoods that are home to large concentrations of Arab-Americans, some of whom hail from family backgrounds in southern Lebanon.
