A New Law Executing Child Rapists Has Gone Into Effect

A new law implementing the death penalty for child rapists, which was signed by Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year, has officially gone into effect in the Sunshine State.

"Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book, a Davie Democrat who was sexually abused as a child, implored senators Tuesday evening to vote for the bill. She said people who sexually abuse children are "called predators for a reason, because they stalk and hunt down their prey."

"There is no statute of limitations on this crime (for victims)," Book said. "There is no end. It's always with you."

DeSantis also signed additional legislation over the summer implementing harsher punishments for sex offenders and violent criminals.

“There is no meaningful difference between a criminal that committed a crime of sexual violence and a criminal that attempted but failed to commit that same crime — neither deserve to have their sentences cut short,” DeSantis said at the time. Read more and see Xs here.

Hochul Announces Thousands of Jobs Available to Illegal Border Crossers in New York

Despite the economic struggles Americans are facing, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration made it easier than ever for illegal border crossers who have obtained work authorizations in her state to find jobs.

In a statement released on Monday, the Democrat governor said about 18,000 jobs have been identified in the Empire State with nearly 400 employers.

“Migrants and asylum seekers came here to work — so let’s put them to work,” Hochul said. “Right now, we have a migrant crisis and a workforce crisis. By connecting work-eligible individuals with jobs and opportunity in New York, we can solve them both and secure a brighter future for all New Yorkers.”

On August 24, Governor Hochul directed the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) to conduct outreach to employers and determine which job openings could be filled with migrants and asylum seekers. This initiative has identified more than 18,000 private sector job openings at 379 companies who have identified roles that could be filled by individuals with legal work status. This includes job openings in...Read more, see X and video here.

The Whole ‘McHenry Kicks Pelosi out of Her Hideaway Office’ Story Gets Even More Amusing
Sister Toldjah  / RedState

We wrote earlier about how one of the first orders of business for speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) in the aftermath of the House's ousting of Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker was to notify former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that she needed to immediately remove her things and vacate her hideaway office.

Also, according to reports, an email sent from a House Administration Committee aide indicated the room was being redesignated “for speaker office use."

Naturally, the move prompted some wailing from Pelosi, who proclaimed that the decision was "a sharp departure from tradition." It was kind of an ironic statement to make considering, as my colleague Bonchie noted, ousting a House Speaker - which Pelosi's fellow Democrats ultimately supported even after she allegedly told McCarthy prior to him becoming Speaker she would push back against such a move - is quite a departure from tradition as well.

In an update to this story, we're learning that it wasn't McHenry but McCarthy himself who was behind the call to get Pelosi kicked out of...Read more and see X and video here.
