At a White House press conference earlier Wednesday, Kerry claimed industrial and energy sector workers are victims of a "false narrative" based in Trump-era economic policy.
"They have been fed the notion that somehow dealing with climate is coming at their expense," Kerry said. "No, it's not. What is happening to them is happening because of other market forces are already taking place."
"It is not a unifying message, and it is not doing the job we should be doing [in] fighting for working men and women in this country," said Cruz.

The four members of Congress – Reps. Vincente Gonzalez, Lizzie Fletcher, Henry Cuellar, and Marc Veasey – sent a letter to Biden, asking him to rescind the order.
"Media reports indicate that the Administration plans to announce a new proposal to ban responsible energy leasing, including oil and gas leasing, from our federal waters and lands indefinitely," the letter stated. "A federal ban for any period of time will certainly imperil hundreds of thousands of jobs, entire communities, and billions of dollars in royalty revenues to the Federal Treasury and eliminate funding for important conservation programs such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)."
“The commission will be housed under the purview of the White House Counsel’s office and filled out with the behind-the-scenes help of the Biden campaign’s lawyer Bob Bauer,” the article continues.
“Its specific mandate is still being decided. But, in a signal that the commission is indeed moving ahead, some members have already been selected, according to multiple people familiar with the discussions.”
President Joe Biden first announced that “he would name a bipartisan commission to propose changes to the Supreme Court and federal judiciary” in October. According to The Washington Post, this was an attempt to “make a nod to both camps,” one of which was the “activists on the left” pushing him to “endorse the addition of several justices,” and the other the “swing voters he [was] courting” who showed “little interest in the idea.”
