Oh, Here We Go: Obama White House Looking To Close Phantom Gun Show Loophole Through Executive Action

Well, executive action of gun control is something the Obama White House seems to be considering in the aftermath of the horrific San Bernardino shooting that the FBI has recently reclassified as a federal terrorism investigation. Even with this development in the investigation, which renders the narrative in gun control moot–the president is looking to close the non-existent gun show loophole (via LA Times):

White House officials are seeking a way to use executive authority to close the so-called gun show loophole that allows thousands of people to buy firearms each year without a background check, but complicated legal issues have slowed the process. 

Almost three years ago, after the killing of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., President Obama asked Congress to change the law to require background checks for weapons sold outside the network of licensed gun dealers, including sales at gun shows or through the Internet. A bill to tighten the background system died in the Senate a few months later — dashing the administration’s hopes for legislative action.

Shorting the American Economy

Wealthy individuals including Tom Steyer and others are driving an effort to effectively “short sell” the American economy by attacking oil, natural gas and coal producers while touting the benefits of “green” energy resources that are still unreliable or are contributing minuscule amounts of power to our nation’s energy demands.

For those who are unfamiliar with investing, “shorting” a stock means that an investor who thinks a stock will go down in price will borrow shares of that stock from a brokerage firm and then sell those shares. If that stock does indeed go down, the speculator can buy it at a lower price and make money. Short-sellers love to see stocks they target suffer big declines in their prices.

“Shorting” is exactly the strategy of many well-funded, radical environmentalists who are targeting our traditional energy producers and our manufacturing base while supporting a “green energy” agenda that cannot survive in a free market without huge government subsidies — our tax dollars — to buttress them. The agenda of many of these wealthy activist donors is to target and eventually take down our fossil fuel industry. That is simply a recipe for disaster.

American Muslims for the umpteenth time are wailing about a fear of [non-existent] reprisals. The blood of American Christians and Jews is still on the floor and the walls of a Christmas party, and they are playing the victim. How savage.

Why aren’t American Muslims mourning our dead? Why aren’t American Muslims using their money and influence to call for an “enlightenment” in Islam, a purge of the Quran and Islamic texts and teachings that call for jihad and genocide?

Obama Apologizing to the World for US on Climate Is Ridiculous

President Obama’s opening remarks at the Paris climate agreement were effectively an apology for industrial progress. At the kickoff of the talks, Obama remarked, “I’ve come here personally, as the leader of the world’s largest economy and the second-largest emitter, to say that the United States of America not only recognizes our role in creating this problem; we embrace our responsibility to do something about it.”

Obama should not be apologizing for the economic growth that dramatically improved Americans’ and much of the world’s quality of life. Instead, the president should apologize for pushing costly and ineffective climate policies that will make us worse off and trap the world’s poorest citizens in poverty.
