A 'certain' videographer has posted a video saying AIDS is completely
preventable and would disappear if "certain" people would just 'behave
themselves' and 'keep their tongue where it belongs' and other such
nasty uncalled for comments. And to make this worse is the fact that
this person is using children as their touch-point by saying there would
be more money for childhood disease
research if we didn't "WASTE" money on AIDS research. This person
forgets that a good percentage of AIDS cases came from tainted blood NOT
from sexual contact and that it is also heterosexually transmitted.
AIDS is NOT just a disease of "certain" people but is an equal
opportunity disease and to use children as the focus to condemn "certain" people is just plain wrong.FACT: AIDS is the #6 leading cause of death for both gay and heterosexual persons in the world today with 1.78 million people dying of AIDS every year according to the WHO
FACT: Heterosexual sex has accounted for a growing share of transmissions over time, representing 25% of new infections according to the Kaiser Family Foundation
FACT: Analyses of data from cities with high AIDS prevalence found that about 2% of heterosexuals were infected with HIV (KFF)
FACT: one can get AIDS by receiving blood transfusions, blood products, or organ/tissue transplants that are unknowingly contaminated with HIV
FACT: you can get AIDS through occupational exposure like being pricked by a needle that has been used to draw blood from an HIV patient (a risk in the medical profession)
FACT: AIDS can be gotten through contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes even for heterosexuals
FACT: AIDS can be transmitted by being born to an HIV infected mother or can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.
FACT: in Africa AIDS is primarily a heterosexual disease
FACT: Heterosexual drug users can unknowingly get AIDS by sharing needles, syringes, rinse water, or other equipment used to prepare injection drugs
And there are other ways as well. AIDS is NO longer strictly a disease of "certain" people and it probably NEVER was as AIDS originated in Africa where it remains mostly a disease of heterosexuals. So 'certain' videographers need to get their facts straight before spewing such lies about "certain" people and inserting innocent children into them.
It is true that some people get AIDS from blood tranfusions and things that are beyond their control. I have compassion on those people. I do not have compassion on people who live dangerously and have multiple sex partners. They are stupid! Whether straight or gay...to have multiple sex partners is STUPID!
ReplyDeleteThe reason Africa is such a hotbed of AIDS is because the people live STUPIDLY if I might borrow one of Obama's words! Obviously the men over there like it both ways...they are obvously bisexual, maybe even trisexual depending on whether anything else in the area can be screwed.
I have more compassion on people who get ebola than AIDS...one is PREVENTABLE...and the other is NOT!
I would not wish any disease on ANY person, but people need to grow up and live responsibly! I don't want gay people to get AIDS but they need to live responsibly (have ONLY one partner)!
I NOTICED that Diane did not answer this one! When there is silence from Diane's corner, you know you (MEANING "I") won the discussion!
ReplyDeleteShe KNOWS that bad behaviour is a MAJOR part of the spread of AIDS. Sure...AIDS is bad, but it is MOSTLY spread by people with AIDS having sex with multiple partners. If they were monogamous, the chances are they would not get the disease. The incidence of bad blood transfusions is going down I hope (that would include various forms of Hepititus.)
Diane is only getting cozy with the gay community to prove she is progessive thinking conservative and wants their votes to help defeat the democrats. It's OK Diane, I understand where you are coming from. We do need to reach out to other groups, but not to endorce bad behaviour.
