Let me begin by saying two
things...first, I never liked Mike Pence from the moment then
candidate Donald J. Trump introduced him as his running mate back on
July 15, 2016 and second, I am about to break the great Ronald
Reagan's 11th commandment about never speaking ill of a fellow
Republican. And while this usually references that those running for
office should not speak ill of their fellow Republican opponents, it
has of late been applied to one's fellow Republicans in general. But
sometimes commandments of all kinds are and should be broken, and
here I must break Reagan's for I believe Mike Pence, in his attacks on
now fellow candidate Donald Trump, has indeed crossed the line into
deliberate and slanderous spewing of lies, innuendos, and deceit to
such a degree that, to me, it borders on the traitorous...traitorous
to both country and to the man he once served under and called
friend.
There was something about Mike
Pence...something that just did not sit right with me, a sense of
foreboding if you will. Maybe it was his overly whitened toothy smile
coupled with the way he carried himself...sort of reminiscent of
Obama's overly self-confident sauntering across the stage at
Billy-Boy's nominating convention. Or maybe it was the fact that I knew
it did not look good for the former congressman running for
reelection to a second term as Indiana's governor...which meant that
if he did lose the governors race that he would be leaving office as
a fairly...outside the mid-West...unknown politician who would
forever be thought of as a loser. Whatever the feeling was that day
know that feeling has never left me for Mike Pence has indeed turned
out to be not only a loser but now an American nightmare bar none.
But this is not to say that Mike Pence
did not do at least one good thing as vice president...he did. One
thing near and dear to my heart...and personal as well...is that
Pence took the lead in not only rebuilding our nation's space program
including the all important garnering of $8 billion in new funding
for “Space Force,” but that he spearheaded the call for a
U.S. Mars mission. Other than that, it's my opinion that Mike Pence
was but second rate window dressing for larger than life President
Donald J. Trump, the man whose very presence literally sucks all the
air out of the political room and most especially so when the
Democrats started in earnest their still ongoing nefarious witch hunt
against our 45th president.
Second rate window dressing for sure as
Mike Pence has always appeared, to me, to be a milquetoast of sorts,
a direct opposite of Donald J. Trump...the man...which makes me wonder
why Trump tapped him to be his running mate.
Three possibilities come to mind.
First, was it because Indiana's former
congressman and then possibly its soon to be former one term governor
remained popular with so-called “social conservatives” and
the uber religious far right...aka the Evangelicals...two large blocks of votes that Trump
desperately needed if he was to beat Obama-backed Hillary Clinton in
2016? A possibility for sure.
Second, did Trump choose Pence because
the Republican hierarchy itself suggested that he do so feeling that
Pence was his best bet to shore up support with both Republicans
still on the fence about Trump's now running as a Republican and
embracing his then new found conservatism? Remember, throughout most
of his adult life Donald Trump was a registered Democrat, so maybe
that was the reason.
And third, could it be that the then
Republican hierarchy, unbeknownst to candidate Trump, deliberately
pushed easily controlled establishment shill Mike Pence on
him... basically planting him as their eyes and ears...a mole if
you will...in what would surely be a very unconventional administration.
Mike Pence would be not only their easy to manipulate counter-balance to the man who claimed not to be a
politician, but his presence on the ticket would hopefully make said ticket more
palatable to mainstream Republicans and the aforementioned uber
religious far right, while at the same time bring the all-important independents over to the uncontroversial, drama free Mike Pence and therefore the
Republican ticket as well. Could this be the reason Pence became Trump's VP nominee...not to be discounted I'd say.
Simply, any of these three scenarios
are distinct possibilities for I cannot imagine Donald Trump himself
picking a man...a wanna be career politician...a milquetoast...like
Mike Pence to be his running mate especially for his second go round.
Why so...because it's my belief that Mike Pence was then, is now, and
will probably always remain a somewhat shady character for when one's
comments and actions...especially with Pence now knowing what
President Trump is facing...still seems to relish in spewing
backstabbing nonsense which has me wondering just which side of
the political aisle Mike Pence's loyalty really lies with. And now
with Trump becoming a much heralded political martyr of sorts...a
martyr through no fault of his own...how it must pain him to see his
former vice president actually digging the proverbial knife ever
deeper into his back.
But maybe Trump should have seen this
coming...maybe we all should have...for a red flag as to Pence's
character should have been, if not raised, at least noted for it has long
been suspected that a traitor was embedded within the Trump camp. Could that traitor be Mike Pence...to me that answer is
maybe. And why...here's one scenario that has led me to believe
so. On May 17, 2017, just one day after the appointment of a special
counsel to investigate “supposed” Russian interference in
the 2016 presidential election, Mike Pence registered what became the
“Great America Committee”...a
PAC... which on its altruistic surface seemed like a good thing. And why
wouldn't it seem so for in it's first two-years in operation said PAC
raised more than $4 million to help Congressional Republicans during
the 2018 mid-term election. But what most don't know is that PAC's of
this nature are usually set up as a precursor to one's own
presidential run.
Simply, I now believe, especially after
reading and hearing Mike Pence's recent comments regarding what many
of us still believe to be the stolen 2020 election, is that this PAC
was also set up to test the waters, if you will, for Pence's own 2020
presidential run, especially being that Pence would become president
if Trump was removed from office. Sometimes traveling the country
using PAC monies on what Pence has claimed to be government business,
my question is why did Mike Pence feel the need to use PAC monies for some of
his travels when he had full use of Air Force 2, especially for
government business? Just something to think about...think about and
not only question but demand answers to.
It seems Mike Pence has always had veiled
presidential ambitions which I believe he has kept hidden until
now...ambitions I deem dangerous to our republic for certain
aspects of Pence's politics and his far right religious beliefs...he has stated on numerous occasions that not only did, “I gave my life to Jesus” but that hisdevout religious beliefs are the center of his very identity...beliefs which do lean
towards someone who would welcome our becoming a theocracy. So it now makes sense his
running for the nomination in 2024 as social issues...the key focus of said religious far right...do at times dominate the current political discourse.
But it's not that Mike Pence has any
chance of winning said 2024 nomination...his extremely low poll
numbers prove just that...but Pence is smart enough to know that the only
way to set himself up for 2028, is by doing the bidding of the swamp
laden Republicans hierarchy now...a hierarchy who'd rather, I believe, see Joe
Biden as president in 2024 than Donald Trump or even (my choice)
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
And maybe this was Pence's plan all
along, as in to take an election he knows well was stolen...after all
he watched, as did we, the rightful brouhaha about thousands of
uncounted ballots “miraculously” being found in the middle
of the night while only being tallied after poll watchers/observers were told to leave. And surprise of all surprises, when counted, not only were all votes cast for Biden/Harris, but what were winning numbers in swing states already
tallied and announced for Trump/Pence suddenly were lowered to allow for a
Biden/Harris win. Simply, this makes no sense unless the numbers were
somehow manipulated and/or switched...sort of like what happened back in
2000 with Florida's “chad” fiasco.
And Pence watched all unfold and said not a word possibly having known all along that 2020 would be lost but that by 2028 our country will be so bad off having
then gone through yet another four years of Joe Biden that any
Republican...even one selling out to the swamp...like I believe Pence
has done...would win come 2028.
Why else would Mike Pence now make up
lies that Trump and his advisers pressured him into rejecting the
certification of the 2020 election in January...why else would Pence
tell FOX News that, “The president specifically asked me, and
his gaggle of crackpot lawyers asked me, to literally reject votes,
which would have resulted in the issue being turned over to the House
of Representatives, and literally chaos would have ensued.” And
he said this even knowing well that all Trump asked of him was to
delay the Electoral College vote until all the voter fraud claims
were looked into and resolved...a reasonable request I'd say.
So why say what he said...because I believe Mike Pence would lie for
his own political gain...as in the presidency...even if it meant a few years wait time to
achieve said gain. And in his now appeasing those in the Republican hierarchy of the
swamp, Pence hopes it will garner him “brownie
points” from those who are already working behind the scenes on
the 2028 election.
“Our country is more important
than one man. Our constitution is more important than any one man’s
career. On January 6th, Former President Trump demanded that I choose
between him and the Constitution. I chose the Constitution and I
always will,” were also Mike Pence's ever so altruistic sounded words said
as he tried setting himself up as the defender of truth and
honesty...which he is anything but. And so the man who now says that
he has no plans to testify at any of Trump's upcoming trials... unless he is subpoenaed to...and knows damn well that he
will be...has actually set himself up to be the recipient of kudos
and political love from not only RINO Republicans and those who
simply don't like Donald Trump, but will soon to be the recipient of
mega dollars courtesy of his reportedly soon to come January 6th
memoir...a memoir which he hopes will not only sour the independents
on voting for Trump in 2024, but will align their votes for him in
2028.
Simply, it's my belief that Mike Pence
is not only a politically backstabbing traitor to Donald Trump, but
to “We the American People”
and our country as well. Case closed.

Op-ed: Two Losers and the Ghost of John McCain By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots

While the current news cycle is all about impeachment,
impeachment, impeachment, and Syria, Syria, Syria... there are a few
other news worthy items that are both comical and maddening at the
same time while receiving but cursory attention at best. So along
those lines let's start with the fact that Bernie Sanders...2016 's
Mr. “Feel the Bern” himself...has not a snowball's chance
in hell of getting the 2020 Democrat nomination let alone winning the
presidency...both his heart attack and his far left politics have
sealed that fate.
The now shadow of the man he once was...Bernie Sanders remains the
man who continues to espouse the supposed virtues of socialism no
matter its many proven foibles while still enjoying living large off
the millions of dollars capitalism has afforded him, doing so while
refusing to follow doctor's orders to slowdown. Instead, Bernie has
upped his anti-American vitriol to such a degree while out on the
campaign trail, during the Democrat debates, as well as in the media,
that it's quite possible Bernie won't be around come nomination
time...after all the heart can only take so much...but know I don't
wish him harm and neither should you.
The simple fact is that Bernie Sanders cannot win as he's even a
bit too far left for some progressives lurking within the now
Democrat-Socialist party...progressives who while championing
Bernie's “free stuff” mantra along with a growing number
of millennials currently in his corner... have started to...albeit to a
small degree...come to the realization that nothing in this life is
actually free. And when you now add in that the leader of the
infamous “Squad”...one Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez...has just
formally endorsed him...Bernie's Sanders chances of winning anything
have gone down from slim to none.
Why so...for starters how about Bernie's adding AOC to his
campaign team. Remember, this is the woman who is not well liked even
in her own 14th Congressional district as she is the one who almost single-handily killed the Amazon
deal...a deal where Amazon was going to open up a new headquarters in
New York City...a deal that would have created 25,000 new jobs and
added about $30 billion in revenue to not only the very city deep in
debt but to New York State itself. Even the infamous Mayor Bill
DeBlasio called AOC to task for her job-killing stance. In fact,
DeBlasio went so far as to say that, “[I
have] progressive roots [and will] take on any progressive –
anywhere – that thinks it’s a good idea to lose jobs and
revenue.”
And AOC then had the gall to say that fixing the subways instead of
creating jobs would have been money better spent. And so this delusional
ex-bartender...and not a very good one so I've been told...is who
Bernie Sanders is welcoming with open arms to his official team of
campaign endorsing supporters...not the greatest idea I would think.
But to make matters
worse, Bernie Sanders recently stated that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
will have an “important
position”
in his administration “when”...yes
he said “when”...he
becomes president. Seems like Bernie's heart attack caused a serious
momentary lack of oxygen to his brain.
And so the woman whose
sole claim to political fame is that she has 5.6 million Twitter
followers is also the woman who introduced the cost prohibited,
bat-loon crazy Green New Deal to the American public...a deal that
would see all buildings in this country being torn down and rebuilt
to stringent new EPA standards; would see "planes, trains, and
automobiles" becoming but a thing of the past; and would have cows
either wearing diapers or with a cork up their butt, And AOC claims it's all in the name
of protected the world from what was originally Al Gore's “global
cooling”
nonsense morphed into “global
warming”
nonsense now morphed into “climate
change” nonsense... as
in what's simply the “weather”...and
that's not nonsense at all.
And
Bernie seems to have no problem with the cost of AOC's Green New
Deal...nonsense he supports no matter that it's implementation cost on
the low end would be $52 trillion over the next ten years up to $92
trillion on the high end, also spread out over the next ten years.
But when you add in Bernie's Medicare for All proposal...now
estimated to cost at least $34 trillion over the same ten
years...with that being more than the total current cost of Social Security,
Medicare, and Medicaid combined...you cannot ignore the fact that
these two socialists obviously care nothing about adding to our
already staggering national debt...a debt currently standing at
$22.03 trillion and growing. Nor do they care that the American
taxpayer would again be forced to foot the bill...via drastically
higher taxes...for both new proposals and more, including a
single-payer healthcare system, student loan forgiveness, free public
college, a wealth tax on the super-rich, universal childcare, and
early childhood education...which would add to the percentage we
taxpayers already pay to help bring down the national debt. And
the bottom line here is that all the “free
stuff” proposed
by Bernie Sanders and seconded by AOC, sees only the “gimme-gimme
folks”...folks
now generationally with their hands out...not understanding that
while these are promises made they're simply promises that cannot be
kept, but they're promises that will help Bernie “buy”
their votes come the primary elections.
So if Bernie Sanders thinks Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement
will help him garner the much needed mainstream Democrat vote he is
sorrily mistaken for the only ones AOC really appeals to are young
clueless millennial sorts who talk a good talk but who are just too
lazy to get off their parent's couch and actually go out and
vote...as in the newest generation of young people who've been
indoctrinated into believing that it's better to receive than to go
get a job and be responsible for one's own self.
And while AOC is now being called to task by some leading
Democrats for not endorsing a “woman of color” or at least
another minority candidate, her support for Bernie Sanders was
actually a pre-ordained given as AOC got into politics as an
organizer for Bernie's 2016 presidential campaign, as well as it
being Bernie's staffers who recruited her to run for Congress. And
dare we forget two important commonalities shared between these two,
with the first being that both want to literally “overthrow”
our capitalistic economy and replace it with socialism...that is
until they run out of other people's money...and second, both are
card carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA),
the very anti-capitalist group working within yet standing apart from
the Democrat party. Translation: both Bernie Sanders and AOC are hypocritical sorts who enjoy reaping the benefits of what the more
mainstream Democrat party and our country has to offer while at the
same time relishing in destroying the once honorable party of JFK
from within.
So
while some still believe that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement
will at least bring enough “energy”
into Bernie's campaign to see him make it to the primaries, the fact
remains that AOC may do little to nothing to bring much needed
minority votes...especially black votes...over to Bernie. And
besides, Bernie Sanders campaign is
already faltering what with major polls now showing “Pocahontas”
Warren kicking him out of second place and even overtaking “Uncle
Joe”
in a few of those polls. Bye-bye Bernie, it's time to accept your
moniker as
“socialism's grandfather”
and just fade away for you will never be president nor will America
ever become a socialist nation...President Trump will surely see to
that.
And then there's Utah's now junior Senator Mitt Romney, the man I
supported for president back in 2012 who has now sadly morphed into
the ghost of John McCain. So filled with hate for President Trump
this once honorable man has made taking down Trump his 24/7 agenda,
basically picking up where McCain left off. But don't think that
doesn't come with consequences because it does.
But before I get into those consequences let's take a brief look
at the latest in the ongoing Romney/Trump feud...a feud that started
on the day Mitt Romney lost to Obama and Donald Trump...whose support
he had garnered... publicly stated that Romney was not strong or
assertive enough during the campaign...which was one hundred percent correct. Making amends of sorts when now President Trump considered
Romney for his Secretary of State, things got even more unsettling
when Rex Tillerson was chosen instead.
And so the tensions kept building and reached a culmination of
sorts when on January 1, 2019, newly elected Utah Senator Mitt Romney
arrived in Washington D.C. with a vehemently anti-Trump op-ed in
hand. Printed in TheWashington Post and
titled, The President Shapes the Public Character of the Nation. Trump’s Character Falls Short, this op-ed was nothing but a hit piece against the man who won the
office Romney coveted but could never attain with its bottom line for
Romney being that Trump “has not risen to the mantle of the
office.” But what makes this even more grievous is that Mitt
Romney sought and accepting President Trump's endorsement during his
Senate campaign.
And from this point on now Senator Mitt Romney has continued to
channel his inner John McCain by painting himself as a true
conservative...as McCain tried to do and failed...with Trump being
the founder of what Romney calls “Trumpism.” But
the fact is that half the nation voted for Trump because of his conservative values, especially on key moral issues, as well as for his
known business savvy. Translation: All of Mitt Romney's venom spewed has allowed
him to pick-up where John McCain left off, thus affording him the
designation of RINO as well, and that comes replete with a healthy
dose of Jeff Flake's animosity thrown in for good, or should I say
bad measure.
Now fast forward to this past October 5th when Mitt Romney called
President Trump's supposed appeals to Ukraine and China to
investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter "wrong
and appalling." The only thing “wrong and appalling”
was Romney drawing this conclusion before the phone transcript of the
call had even been released...before Ukraine President Zelensky
himself said nothing improper had taken place...as in no appeal was
made. And President Trump's response came via a tweet in which he
called Romney “a pompous ass who has been fighting me from the
beginning" adding that Romney could have won the 2012
election if he "worked this hard on Obama."
How right President Trump is as shades
of Hillary Clinton sees Mitt Romney also blaming everybody but
himself for his loss as well as his seeking revenge for something solely of
his own doing.
And dare we forget Mitt Romney's
recently taking to the Senate floor after President Trump announced
our troop withdrawal from northern Syria to call Trump's supposedabandonment of the Kurds “a
bloodstain in the annals of American history.” Nothing
like Romney's spouting off without knowing all the facts to add to an
already overheated political impeachment fire.
And yet no matter how Trump counters Mitt Romney's accusations, Romney's now over inflated ego and quest for revenge unfortunately sees
him remaining steadfast in his threats to see President Trump removed
from office. And this can be witnessed by his recent interviews with
Axios where he alluded to musings that he might head up what he
now calls a “breakaway group of Republican senators” in
turning against Trump if he does happen to get impeached in the House. But Mitt Romney can
bloviate all he wants as he needs a minimum of twenty Republican senators
to pull that off and those numbers are thankfully just not there.
Now as for the consequences of his actions, Mitt Romney has both
personal and political egg on his face for it was recently discovered
that Romney has a secret Twitter account where he uses the moniker
“Pierre Delecto,” and has had said account for eight
years, ever since his presidential run against Obama. But even though
he only used said account 10 times since 2011...used it to either
offer “mild criticism” of President Trump while tweeting
“polite defenses” of himself...what's troubling about this
is that now Senator Mitt Romney...a man so vocal against President
Trump in Congress and while playing to the cameras...did not have the
courage to stand by his online convictions needing instead a phony
virtual identity by which to do his dirty work. Makes one wonder
about the true character of the man who dares to question President
Trump's moral fortitude.
And then there's this political consequence few politicians want
to see, as in falling poll numbers. In fact, as I write this, Mitt
Romney actually has a lower approval rating than a disapproval
rating, and it's all because of his very public sour grapes feud with
President Trump. The man who in 2018 was elected as Utah's next
senator with 62% of the vote now sees himself, as per a Utah Policy
and Y2 Analytics survey, with only 46% of Utahans approving of his
time on the Hill with 51% disapproving, and with those numbers more than
likely continuing to fall.
Not good for the man who not that long ago aspired to our nation's
highest office, but like they say “you reap what you sow.”
And for Mitt Romney, just like with Hillary Clinton, and like it
should have been for John McCain, it would have better served them to
let their animosity against President Trump go.
News stories buried by the media now come to light as there's more
going on than impeachment and Syria...just wanted you to know.

As we were all focused on Passover and Easter preparations and
celebrations, and as the fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame
dominated the 24/7 news cycle, three other key news stories slowly
started making the rounds including last Friday's political bombshell
concerning former presidential candidate and now Utah Senator Mitt
Romney.
So let me start by saying that I volunteered and campaigned for
Romney twice...when he ran for the nomination against John McCain
and when he ran for the presidency against Barack HUSSEIN Obama.
Romney's message and platform were strong as well as his having
political experience as the Republican governor of a blue state. He
was business savvy and ever so handsome...the epitome of a loving
husband and family man. I worked hard as a campaign volunteer and
even got to watch Romney debate Obama at a special “invite only”
debate watching party. And while I felt he was not forceful enough
against Obama at certain points in that particular debate, I held out
hope that he'd pull off a presidential win...he truly was the better
candidate...the better man...for the job after all.
Never did I think Americans would be so misguided or foolish
enough to elect a community organizer, let alone an islamic condoner,
to the presidency of these United States. But then I never thought
the liberal media would be so successful in anointing a seemingly
politically inexperienced half-black man as America's supposed
“saviour-in-chief.”
And sadly, I too was fooled for the man I thought Mitt Romney was
back then has now morphed into nothing but the late RINO John
McCain's Senate replacement. And Romney is worse than McCain for
McCain's disdain for Donald Trump could be called a somewhat
“righteous stand” against Trump's uncalled for POW
comments. But Romney...an early critic of candidate Trump...put on a
grand show of pretending to mend fences when he was asked by now
President Trump to interview for the position of Secretary of
State...which fortunately he did not get.
Fool me once...shame on you. Fool me twice...shame on me. Fool me
three times...and it's time for me to set right a grievous wrong as
my head hangs in shame for ever having supported this man. And
why...because Romney never moved on from his anti-Trump
stance...it grew and festered as he became just another RINO come
home to the Senate to roost.
A RINO indeed for Mitt Romney could not keep his mouth shut or his
tweeting finger still after reading the redacted version of the
Mueller report. Choosing to criticize President Trump, his
administration, and the report itself, Romney, last Friday, tweeted
that he was “sickened” by the “dishonesty and
misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land
including the President.”
“Sickened” by what...that no evidence of “collusion”
either by Trump or his campaign was found...“sickened”
that no chargeable “obstruction of justice” was
found...“sickened” to such a degree that even proverbial “nice
guy” former AR Gov. Mike Huckabee felt he had to jump to Trump's defense by
saying that what made him “sick” was the thought that,
“Mitt Romney might have become president in 2016.” But Mike Huckabee is right...for
what Mitt Romney did was give the Democrats fodder to keep the
“collusion” now
morphing into “impeachment”
nonsense going...but maybe that was RINO Romney's intention all
along...payback for Trump's publicly criticizing him after losing to
Obama most likely. Any thing's possible in today's heated political
climate with Romney likely continuing to spew his anti-Trump
rhetoric.
Next up and coming on the heels
of the Notre Dame fire, the Indian Ocean island nation of Sri Lanka saw a
wave of eight early Sunday morning explosions rocking three Catholic
churches holding Easter services as well as three upscale tourist
hotels. At least 359 people were killed (as per the latest count) with 500+ more injured,
including at least two Americans (one being 40-year old Dieter Kowalski from
Denver CO) and eight British citizens among those listed as killed.
Now believed to be in response to last month's Christchurch, New Zealand mosque massacre, the well coordinated attacks, as per
Sri Lanka’s Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardene, were carried out by Sri
Lankan “muslim extremists” from "National Thowheed
Jama'ath" (NTJ)... a local groupthat is both the fairly new
islamist faction of the two decades old less extremist group
Thableekh Jamaat, the group previously known for vandalizing Buddhist
statues, and who in 2016 saw one of its leaders being arrested for
“inciting racism.”
And with said attacks being highly suspected of having help from an “international
terror network”...to that affect ISIS' news agency Amaq announced earlier this week on Telegram (via the NAshir News Agency)
that the attacks in Sri Lanka were carried
out by ISIS fighters. Also of note is that "National Thowheed Jama'ath”has on numerous occasions not only threatened to kill Sri
Lankan nonbelievers but to bring islamic fundamentalism to the
country as well.
And to date over 40 arrests have already been made, and two of the
seven suicide bombers...including Mohamed Azzam Mohamed, who blew
himself up at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel's Taprobane Restaurant as
people were eating breakfast and Zahran Hashim, a well-known muslim
“preacher” who claimed, “Allah created this land for
Muslims”...have been identified as members of said goup. But to
make matters worse, local intelligence had received warnings a full
ten days prior to the attacks that “prominent churches”
could be the target of suicide bombers. In fact, "National Thowheed
Jama’ath" was specifically named in a police advisory to local
security services as one they believed posed a threat to Catholic
churches.
However, due to what he called “friction” within
opposing factions of the government leadership, Prime Minister Ranil
Wickremesinghe issued a statement saying that neither he nor his
cabinet ministers had been notified about those warnings so little to
nothing was done to keep the churches safe...safe from what Finance
Minister Mangala Samaraweera called “a well-coordinated attempt
to create murder, mayhem and anarchy.”
Mission accomplished I'd
say...mission accomplished because like within the different sects of
Christianity who are constantly at odds with each other over just whose
version of Christianity is the version Jesus intended...Sri Lanka has
also seen religious issues arising from its own 1983-2009 civil
war...a war between Hindu separatists from the minority Tamil ethnic
group vs. the Sinhalese ethnic Buddhist majority. And as long as
religious odds exist within a given country, islam will continue
making inroads into that country whether or not they had significant
numbers population wise, as now witnessed in Sri Lanka, a nation of
23 million people that currently is less than ten percent
muslim...less than ten percent now but whose numbers are rapidly
growing.
And as Sri Lanka starts to bury its dead, more bombs were discovered...bombs that thankfully did
not go off. Found by Sri Lankan police were 87 bomb detonators at
the capital of Colombo's main bus station, and on Monday a large bomb
was defused on an access road leading to the country's international airport.
So as the scale of the intent to do as much carnage as possible
becomes reality, Sri Lanka is being held hostage in fear of those who
truly are out to kill us all.
And lastly, a big news item this week saw President Trump again
standing strong not just against Iran herself but against Japan,
South Korea, Turkey, China, and India saying that they will no longer
be exempt from U.S. economic sanctions and could face economic
penalties themselves if they continue to import oil from Iran.
Announced in a televised news conference this past Monday by
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the decision not to reissue those
country's waivers when they expire this May 2nd, was made after
already having granted those countries extra time...as in eight
waivers...to find other oil suppliers. Being done to “bring
Iranian oil exports to zero” by
“squeezing Tehran’s government” of
even more much needed revenue...revenue that had been $50 billion a
year before the sanctions ...while at the same time trying to both
force political change in the islamic nation as well as trying to get
Iran to “rein in”
its military actions across the Middle East, most especially in
Syria.
However, while U.S. officials say
they don't expect to see any significant reduction in the actual
“supply of oil”
given production increases by other countries including Saudi Arabia
and the UAE...and with Saudi Energy Minister Khalid a-Falih saying
that his country "will coordinate with fellow oil
producers to ensure adequate supplies are available to consumers
while ensuring the global oil market does not go out of balance"...I
still must play “devil's advocate”
for a bit as we must be forewarned that this move could...and I only say
could...still lead to higher oil and gas prices at the pump...at
least temporarily...as sometimes prices have nothing to do with
“supply” but have everything
to do with simple “demand.”
And that “demand”
was reflected by Monday's global crude prices rising three percent in
Asia to more than $74 a barrel, the highest they've been since
October, as soon as word of what Trump was doing leaked out. And
let's not forget that this move...as rightful as we feel it may
be...will indeed draw the ire of some of our allies while at the same
time seeing a White House shuffling of some policy priorities,
including maybe putting the all-important, ongoing trade talks with
China and the garnering of China's assistance in helping to contain
Kim Jung-un's nuclear ambitions, on the back burner for a bit.
So while Italy, Greece, and Taiwan, three other countries also originally waivered in, have stopped importing oil from
Iran, the a fore mentioned five “big boys” have not. In
fact, those five have actually begun lobbying for said waivers
to be extended yet again no matter that Trump said “time's up.”
And as for our NATO (supposed) allyTurkey, they continue to claim that Iranian oil is
critical to meeting Turkey's energy needs and that as Iran's neighbors
they cannot completely cut economic ties or close its economy to
Iranian goods nor can Iran's economy be closed to Turkish goods.
Well obviously they can be or else President Trump would not be
doing what he is doing...as in cutting off the head of the snake
while its body withers and dies on the ground. A hoped for fitting
end to the mother of all snakes...Iran.
So there you have it...three of this week's top stories as we move
away from Notre Dame a bit...confident that it will be rebuilt...and back
we go to stories that do have a greater and more direct impact
on our country than does 850-year old Notre Dame.
