More Obama Dead-on-Arrival Tax Proposals

Is there a point to beating your head against a concrete wall? The answer would seem to be "no", yet President Obama continues to do just that with dead-on-arrival proposals.

President Barack Obama will propose raising $238bn by levying a one-off tax on the cash piles held by US companies overseas to repair the US’s crumbling roads and bridges.

The measure, a key plank of the US president’s budget to be outlined on Monday, would impose a 14 per cent “transition” tax on the estimated $2tn in earnings US companies have amassed overseas, the White House said on Sunday.

Critics say the existing offshore cash mountains testify to the aggressive foreign tax planning by US companies, while businesses cite them as evidence of the handicaps they face under an uncompetitive US tax regime.

Mr Obama will also propose a 19 per cent tax on future foreign earnings, giving companies a credit on foreign taxes and allowing them to be reinvested in the US with no additional penalty. Under the current system, US companies pay little or no tax on their earnings abroad until they are brought back into the US.

The money raised would be used to fund about half of an ambitious six-year programme of highway, bridge and transit upgrades, one of the president’s main priorities during his final two years in office and an initiative that has attracted some degree of bipartisan support. The remainder of the programme would be financed by the existing highway fund.

“This transition tax would mean that companies have to pay US tax right now on the $2tn they already have overseas, rather than being able to delay paying any US tax indefinitely,” a White House official said.

With Bergdahl, Army Leaders Must Choose Honor Over Politics

It’s no surprise that the Obama administration desperately wants to keep Bowe Bergdahl from being convicted of desertion. It can’t even bring itself to call the Taliban terrorists who held him “terrorists.” Maybe that’s because the Administration traded him for five not-terrorist masterminds, at least one of whom is already trying to get back in the not-terrorism game. Maybe it’s because liberals naturally support any service member who betrays his buddies. Secretary of State Bergdahl anyone?

 

We can’t expect the Obama administration and its liberal media brownnosers to care if our military remains institutionally strong. But we should expect more from our military leaders.

 

Bergdahlgate is only the latest manifestation of a disastrous trend, and this failure to act on these serious allegations has the potential to further damage an already wounded American military. Let's be clear – the fact that no general has pulled the stars off his epaulets and thrown them down on the table to protest the Bergdahl cover-up is a disgrace. 

 

The American people love their military and – for the moment – respect it more than any other American institution. The effect of a senior general resigning rather than going along with bypassing the Uniform Code of Military Justice for political gain would send shockwaves through Washington. By failing to do the one thing they can do in a system where elected civilian politicians control the military, the generals have become part of the politicians’ lies. 

 

The actions of one likely deserter don't make a trend. It's the complicity in the politically-driven refusal to hold Bergdahl accountable that, if left to fester, will eat out the moral core of the Army. The failure of the Army to act is clearly the result of White House pressure. But the Army’s institutional viability is more important than the political priorities of a bunch of hack politicians whose only time in uniform was when they portrayed Santa’s non-gender specific elves in their Montessori schools’ winter solstice pageants.

 

Bergdahl’s case demands action. If Bergdahl is a deserter, he must be held to account. The Army must ensure discipline or going forward there will be none. Cowardice, deceit and betrayal will replace personal courage, integrity and selfless service. The military would become the Democrat Party in camo – except military personnel earn their government checks.

Saudis free woman jailed for “insulting Islam”

We are so much enlightened in the free world. In the free West, no one gets jailed for insulting Islam. Instead, you just get forcibly silenced with vandalism, while the intelligentsia cheers on the vandals. We are so very much more enlightened here than they are in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Raif Badawi remains in prison, but international pressure could still work. It has before.

“Jailed woman who set up blog with activist sentenced to 1,000 lashes for insulting Islam is freed from prison in Saudi Arabia,” MailOnline, February 1, 2015:

A Saudi woman who worked on a liberal blog with jailed activist Raif Badawi has been freed after almost three months in prison, her daughter has said.

Suad al-Shammari was jailed for insulting Islam after co-founding online discussion group the Saudi Liberal Network with Badawi, who was sentenced to ten years jail and 1,000 lashes for his blogging.

As outrage mounts on the kingdom over Badawi’s sentence, al-Shammari has been released after 90 days at a women’s prison in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, her daughter Sarah al-Rimaly said.

‘She’s released now, thanks be to God,’ Ms Rimaly told AFP, adding that her mother left jail three days ago after signing a pledge ‘to reduce her activities’.

Saudi Arabia’s new King Salman late on Thursday issued an amnesty for some prisoners, but Miss Rimaly said her mother’s release was unconnected to this.

She added that she does not think the amnesty will cover Badawi, whose flogging was on Friday postponed for the third week in a row.

Badawi’s corporal punishment had been set to be dealt out piecemeal each Friday but he has so far endured only one set of 50 lashes….

A Savage's Message to the Government of Japan...and to the World

This past Saturday night ISIS released a video... produced by 'IS al-Furqan Media Foundation' the same group that produced all past beheading videos...showing the beheading of Kenji Koto, the Japanese war correspondent held by ISIS...the second Japanese hostage executed...within a drama that played out over the last week or so. And there is a strong possibility that he and fellow hostage Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh...whose fate at the time I write this is still unknown...were actually executed at the same time as the first Japanese hostage, Haruna Yukawa, and that all these negotiations between Jordan, Japan, and ISIS were NOTHING but a PR chess game that ISIS just won.

In fact, ISIS being the vile bast*rds that they are, in the hours before the beheading tweeted to say that they were going to give Saudi King Abdullah, who recently died, a present on what would have been his 91st birthday.

“(Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo) Abe, because of your reckless decision to take part in an unwinnable war, this knife will not only slaughter Kenji, but will also carry on and cause carnage wherever your people are found,”...the savage continued speaking while brandishing his knife about for the camera.

Kinji Goto, kneeling in the same type of orange prison jumpsuit that the others beheaded had worn and with a look of sheer horror on his face, this man, knowing that a horrific death was near, said nothing in the roughly one-minute-long video (see video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RQhh1YyTtw) that surfaced a mere 48-hours after the final deadline given by ISIS for the release of Sajida Mubarak Atrous al-Rishawi was NOT met.

A respected freelance war correspondent and the author of five books, Kenji Goto was NO stranger to Middle East hot spots, having spent more than two decades covering them as a freelance television cameraman. Thinking he would be safe because Japan was NOT at war in Syria, last October Goto entered Syria in an area where roughly 200,000 Syrians had already been killed during the country's bloody civil war to try and either rescue or secure the release of Haruna Yukawa.

But last Saturday ISIS released an audio recording (listen to recording here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLltY_hu9pU) of Goto pleading for his own life and explaining that Yukawa had already been killed...had been executed...on January 24th, and that ISIS had changed its demands. Now asking for the impossible...the release of Sajida Mubarak Atrous al-Rishawi...the would be but failed suicide bomber sentenced to death in Jordan for her part in the 2005 Amman hotel bombings that killed 57 people...you could hear the terror in Goto's voice...the terror in his knowing that he was next to die.

"So let the nightmare for Japan begin,"...'Jihad John' finished speaking his vile words as he held the knife up against Goto's throat.

Outwardly threatening to kill both Goto and Jordanian fighter pilot Lt. Mu’adh al-Kasasibah, ISIS started 'supposedly' negotiating with King Abdullah's government and the government of Japan...both of whom conducted indirect negotiations with ISIS through Iraqi tribal leaders...which we now know were NOTHING but a game that ISIS easily manipulated to make fools out of both Jordan and Japan...and to make fools out of the U.S...for in their demands ISIS gained control of the game for they knew that all in the 'supposed' Obama-led coalition would basically sit back and argue over semantics of words, thus doing NOTHING of substance in retaliation for what ISIS always intended would be the hostage's beheadings.

And proof of that is the very words of Barack HUSSEIN Obama's response to Goto's beheading as this most miserable excuse of a president...as this mere shadow of a man...had the audacity to issue a statement saying the United States “condemns the heinous murder” of Kenji Goto while describing him as a courageous journalist. “Heinous murder”...NO...this was NOT a murder but an execution by the most brutal of methods done by those whom Obama still refuse to call 'muslim islamic terrorists,' but an execution by those who I have the courage to call what they are...islamic savages born in the bowels of hell.

But what can you expect from the very man who had the unmitigated gall to illegally release five high ranking Taliban officials for one American deserter and traitor... Taliban officials Obama knew damn well would return to battle...Taliban officials who he dared to call “armed insurgents” NOT the 'muslim islamist terrorists' that they are. Barack HUSSEIN Obama is indeed the very man who is ground zero for all these beheadings as he set precedence by doing the trade that he did...a dangerous precedence of acquiescing to the enemy...actually 'aiding and abetting' the enemy...that is now NOT only coming back to haunt, but has savages bringing the West...bringing America...to its knees.

And so Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe condemned the beheading and vowed that, "Japan will never succumb to terrorism." Adding, "I am extremely angered by this immoral and despicable act or terrorism. I cannot help but feel extreme regret by the result. We will never forgive the terrorists,” notice he said "terrorists" the very word Obama still will NOT say even after two Americans have already been beheaded and another, a young woman, is still being held hostage.

So now the time has come to put a stop to this once and for all...and that does NOT mean paying (bribing) people...people indoctrinated in and living by the qur'an mandated art of taqiyya...to 'rat' ISIS fighters out. A most ludicrous and laughable idea if I've heard one for the simple fact is that to stop ISIS the time has come to bomb...and I mean carpet bomb non-stop 24/7...these NO good savages back to the 7th century...back to the perverted pedophile...that spawned them...period. And it must be done 'over there' before this starts happening here. And know it will happen here especially when we have a president who will NOT even say the words 'muslim islamic terrorists'...as he's afraid to upset the sensibilities of his blood brethren NO doubt.

So dear reader look long and hard at the picture above of Kenji Goto...and remember the pictures of the others as well...and fear the reality of what these savages can and will do for this is the face of the tangible here and now enemy I always speak of...of the tangible here and now enemy that only we can stop...any questions...I didn't think so.
