Republican Senator warns: Vote for Hagel and be held accountable
From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer
If all the Republicans had
this much spine and were not so Norquistian and compromised, the U.S.
wouldn't be in this fix. "Republican Warns: Vote for Hagel and be Held
Accountable," by Elad Benari for Israel National News, February 22 (thanks to Voice of the Copts):
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) has warned fellow Republicans they will be held accountable if they vote to end an ongoing Senate filibuster over the nomination of embattled secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel, the Washington Free Beacon reports.
“Make no mistake; a vote for cloture is a vote to confirm Sen. Hagel as Secretary of Defense,” Inhofe wrote in a strongly worded letter to his Republican colleagues on Thursday, according to the Free Beacon.
Several of the Republicans have indicated in recent days that they would vote to end debate on Hagel’s nomination, paving the way for his confirmation.
Hagel’s nomination stalled last week when Senate Democrats could not muster the 60-votes needed to end a Republican filibuster of the nomination.
If just a few Republicans defect on Tuesday when the Senate resumes consideration of the nomination, Hagel is assured approval.
In the letter Inhofe warns his Republican colleagues that a vote for Hagel would imperil the nation’s security.
“As the Senate once again considers the Hagel nomination, it is essential to remember a vote for cloture is a vote to confirm Sen. Hagel as Secretary of Defense,” Inhofe wrote.
“We should not let claims about presidential prerogatives and precedents dissuade us from carefully assessing the judgment and positions of this nominee. The president can do better,” he added.
“Remember,” Inhofe wrote, “our nation’s security is at stake as you cast your vote on Tuesday.”
Inhofe’s missive appears aimed at several key Republicans who have expressed support for Hagel.
Three Republicans have said they would vote for Hagel’s confirmation (Sens. Richard Shelby, Mike Johanns, and Thad Cochran); a handful of other Republicans have said they will vote to advance the nomination to a full vote even if they do not vote for Hagel, which in effect would assure his confirmation.
Republican Sens. Deb Fischer (Neb.), Lisa Murkowski (Ala.), and Susan Collins (Maine) have said they will vote for cloture.
Inhofe rebuts Democratic claims that the delay of Hagel’s nomination has been an unprecedented and warranted move.
“I know the Senate had traditionally deferred to the president on cabinet nominations.
However, our nation is at war,” Inhofe wrote. “The Senate must insist on confirming only the most effective leaders, not only to keep our nation safe, but to ensure our service members receive the leadership they deserve.”
“Unfortunately, I firmly believe Sen. Hagel’s well-established record does not meet this essential requirement for confirmation,” the letter states.
Inhofe goes on to outline his top concerns regarding Hagel, which include his controversial comments about Israel, his desire to cut the nation’s nuclear arsenal, and his desire to increase outreach to Iran.
The Republican Jewish Coalition, along with countless others, has cited a long list of Hagel’s anti-Israel policies, asserting that his nomination would “be a slap in the face for every American who is concerned about the safety of Israel.”
Hagel, however, recently claimed that there is "not one shred of evidence that I'm anti-Israeli, not one (Senate) vote that matters that hurt Israel."
Earlier this week, a publication of Hagel’s statements from a 2010 meeting with university students showed yet another anti-Israel statement.
Hagel reportedly said that Israel is becoming an “apartheid state,” and dismissed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as “a radical.”
Hagel’s statements were revealed by a student who was present at the event. Former student Kenneth Wagner shared an email he wrote during Hagel’s talk with the Washington Free Beacon.
Despite all the criticism, however, Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) predicted this week that Hagel will likely be confirmed.
“No, I don’t believe he’s qualified, but I don’t believe that we should hold up his nomination any further, because I think it’s (been) a reasonable amount to time to have questions answered,” M
McCain said, denying that Republicans' attacks on Hagel were personal in nature.McCain is so very much part of the problem. 99 percent? I couldn't care less what he is like as a person. I just don't want to see a jihad enabler and foe of Israel as Secretary of Defense.
"99 percent of it has to do with the positions Senator Hagel has taken," he told NBC’s “Meet the Press”.

Joel Rosenberg: North Korea, Iran
'working very, very closely' on nukes
WND Exclusive
One of the most telling indicators of this collaboration may be the reported presence of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh Mahabadi at the North Korean test. Mahabadi is the chief Iranian nuclear scientist and rarely travels outside of Iran.
That prospect is very troubling to foreign-policy expert and accomplished fiction and nonfiction author Joel C. Rosenberg. He is the author of “The Twelfth Imam” trilogy. The final installment of the trilogy, “Damascus Countdown,” debuts March 5.
“That is further, I would say confirmation, but certainly raises further concern that North Korea is actually doing the testing for Iran. In other words, Iran would essentially be paying for North Korea to be its research and development system, both for ballistic missiles but also for warheads,” Rosenberg told WND. “So Iran might be assembling a bomb right now. We don’t know that for sure. North Korea might be providing the data for how to test it and make sure that it works. This convergence, this collaboration, between Iran and North Korea is exceedingly dangerous for the United States but also clearly for Israel and for the rest of the Middle East.”
Rosenberg said his analysis is far from speculation, and the cozy nuclear relationship between Iran and North Korea is well documented.
“North Korea and Iran are working very, very closely. They have been for years. In fact, they even signed an agreement, a treaty back in 2011 to work on nuclear issues between North Korea and Iran,” Rosenberg said.
Outside of their shared desire to acquire nuclear weapons and a mutual loathing of the United States, there wouldn’t seem to be much in common between an atheistic communist state and the theocratic Muslim regime in Iran. Rosenberg said their alliance helps both sides address glaring problems.
“It seems odd but here’s the bottom line. Like anything in Washington, follow the money,” Rosenberg said.
“North Korea is starving for cash, but it has nuclear technology and has already tested nuclear weapons several times,” he said. “Iran has plenty of cash, not the people but the government. It’s starving for hard data of what a nuclear test looks like without inviting an American or Israeli airstrike before Iran can get its weapons built and ready to launch. This is a match made in hell.”
The U.S. and other nations have attempted to convince and entice North Korea to abandon its nuclear program over the past two decades with little success to show for it. Rosenberg said efforts to talk Iran out of developing its nukes is an even more fruitless endeavor.
“These aren’t just radical Shia Muslims. They have an eschatology, an end times theology they’ve spoken openly about that the end of the world is almost here. The so-called Islamic messiah, known as the twelfth imam, is going to come and reveal himself on earth at any moment,” Rosenberg said. “The way to hasten or accelerate this appearance of this twelfth imam is to annihilate two countries – Israel, which they call the Little Satan, and the United States, which they call the Great Satan.
“From the perspective of the leaders in Tehran, they believe they are being driven by an end-times theology, and there’s no way that they’re going to back off from that. They want to bring about their so-called messiah and a global Islamic kingdom or caliphate that they’ve been talking about for centuries,” Rosenberg said.
He said this mindset is not shared by most of the people in Iran or even most of the people in government. As a result, he said a few options exist to diminish the Iranian nuclear threat since sanctions seem to give the Iranians even more resolve.
“The only way to dissuade them is to eliminate those leaders with a revolution or an assassination or a series of them or neutralize the Iranian program,” said Rosenberg, who believes Obama’s upcoming trip to Israel and other nations in the region is specifically designed to find a strategy to neutralize the Iranian threat.

On conspiracy theories and true
intentions
By: Diane Sori
As most of you know from my op-eds and
posts I'm NOT a conspiracy theorist nor do I buy into the ubber far
right rhetoric that Obama is behind everything...both past and
present. Case in point, I do NOT believe 9/11 was an inside job and
I do believe George W. Bush was right about Iraq having WMDs (they
were moved to Syria in the time it took us to get there) as his
reason for going to war. And as for Obama himself, I do NOT believe
he's setting-up 'Re-education Centers for 'We the People' nor do I
believe our military would ever turn on American citizens even if he
ordered them to, which he won't, as their first allegiance is
to the Constitution NOT to the president and he knows this. Besides,
America has the largest private militia in the world as in, 'behind
every blade of grass...' if this was even so much as attempted.
And I do NOT believe Barack HUSSEIN
Obama set-up or had anything to do with the Aurora 'Batman' Movie
Massacre or the Newtown Massacre...something many do believe. And
now questions are being raised about the suddenly oh so convenient
leaking of nuclear waste in Washington state as nuclear disarmament
talks with Russia are very shortly set to get under way.
ALL these events are indeed convenient
and coming so close together I can see why some would think some
grand conspiracy is going on, but if you stop and clearly think this all through by putting aside all the
media hype and rhetoric, I do believe what you'll find is that
Barack HUSSEIN Obama did NOT order these events but, and this is the
important thing, he is indeed using ALL these events to push forward
his leftist/socialist agenda, and the msm is helping him every step
of the way.
Never one to let a good tragedy go to
waste, Obama is capitalizing on the nightmares that were Aurora and
Newtown to push forward his gun control agenda, including his trying
to if NOT do away with the Second Amendment outright, he's at least
trying to neuter it to some degree. And he's using these specific
tragedies in the worst most vile possible way...he's using the deaths
of innocent children to spew his lie that gun control is needed for
the sake and safety of the children. We all know this...it's in our
face obvious...but thankfully we're trying to do whatever we can to
throw a wrench into his plans. And hopefully the Republican
controlled House will NOT cave for even they have to know that if the
Second Amendment goes or is tampered with that it is indeed over for
America...and that is NOT a conspiracy theory but is a fact.
But as serious as his gun control
agenda is, and rest assured it is the most important issue facing us
right now (right up there with the economy), the six underground
radioactive waste tanks leaking at Washington State's Hanford Nuclear
Reservation are just as serious NOT only for the very possible
contamination of the surrounding area that the leaks might cause along
with the potential health hazards it poses, but also because Barack
HUSSEIN Obama will use this accident (and that is what it is...an
accident and nothing more), as another excuse to move ahead with his
plans to cut our nuclear arsenal.
In today's volatile world, a world
dominated by islamic jihadists and madmen jockeying for power, brute
military force is the only thing that madmen and rogue nations
respect, and included in that show of strength is having a nuclear
arsenal bar none. The reality is that having nuclear weapons do make
one a superpower, and until this America-hating man 'stole' the
presidency, the United States of America was the world's leading
superpower with the world's largest nuclear arsenal.
And now this leak, happening at just
the time nuclear disarmament talks are scheduled to begin, allows
Obama to use this 'isolated incident'...this accident...at an
outdated storage facility with tanks long past their intended 20-year
life span, to justify his numbering down of our nuclear arsenal...for
now he can say it's for the American peoples safety and all. And
he'll also use the argument that since there's no longer a Soviet
Union, there's NO longer a nuclear threat hanging over Europe or
America...that the role of nuclear weapons in modern day
computer-generated warfare is much smaller so there's no need for a
massive nuclear arsenal...and whatever other nonsense either comes
into his mind at the time or his keepers instruct him to say.
And the msm will hang on his every word
and report it all as gospel truth deliberately leaving out or playing
down the fact that there are now rogue nations trying to acquire
nuclear weapons capability who have unstable madmen as leaders
rushing to gain those weapons for the sole purpose of either wiping
Israel or us off the map.
Also, Obama's forgetting or should I
say ignoring the fact that the Bush administration, under the START
treaty in place at the time, already cut our arsenal to 2,200
warheads, with both the US and Russia permitted 6,000 each. And when
the New START treaty went into effect just a year ago requiring both
nations to cap their strategic nuclear warheads at 1,550 each by
2018, while also limiting both to 700 deployed strategic launchers
and heavy bombers, with another 100 held in reserve, there is
absolutely NO need for Obama to now cut us back even more...and
especially be willing to cut us back to levels below that of the
Russians, who whether he likes it or NOT are still America's enemy.
This 'We the People' cannot allow.
And in all this some will say why NOT cut as thousands of weapons are NOT needed, because just a few will destroy the world. But the simple fact is that we're playing a numbers game with our enemies, and I'd much rather have the numbers stacked on our side than on theirs.
Now add into this nuclear mix that Chuck Hagel, Obama's wanted Secretary of Defense, is a man who is a proponent of the Global Zero Initiative. This initiative calls for worldwide elimination of ALL nuclear weapons by 2030, a very dangerous proposal that would leave America NO better off militarily than any third world country defense wise. And this is who Obama wants as Secretary of Defense...NOT good...NOT good at all.
But lets face it, with Barack HUSSEIN Obama as president all these rogue nations and madmen have to do to destroy us is NOT lobe nukes at us but merely tell Obama what they want him to do and he'll gladly do it...after all, this is the man who bows down to our enemies time and time again as he apologizes for America and all she stands for...a man who is willing to sell us out to the highest bidder, and that in and of itself is grounds for charges of treason to be brought against him.
And that my friends is NO conspiracy theory...it's reality.
