Sometimes a cartoon says it all...

Back in April, Judicial Watch released documents showing IRS officials, including former head of tax exempt groups Lois Lerner, discussing the possibility of bringing criminal charges against tea party groups for engaging in "political activity." In fact, the documents showed Lerner wanted to make an example out of someone with charges in order to chill all of the groups in the tea party movement.

"As I mentioned yesterday -- there are several groups of folks from the FEC world that are pushing tax fraud prosecution for c4s who report they are not conducting political activity when they are (or these folks think they are). One is my ex-boss Larry Noble (former General Counsel at the FEC), who is now president of Americans for Campaign Reform. This is their latest push to shut these down.

One IRS prosecution would make an impact and they wouldn't feel so comfortable doing the stuff," Lerner wrote in an email to staff. "So, don't be fooled about how this is being articulated – it is ALL about 501(c)(4) orgs and political activity."

Now according to a release from House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, Lerner had a database of tax exempt organizations sent to the FBI just before the 2010 midterm elections. That database included legally protected taxpayer information. Emails show Lerner and DOJ Election Crimes Branch official Richard Pilger discussing what format the FBI prefers when it comes to receiving information for their investigation.

“Thanks Lois – FBI says Raw format is best because they can put it into their systems like excel,” Pilger wrote in an October 6, 2010 email to Lerner.

Issa and Subcommittee Chairman Jim Jordan have sent a letter to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen demanding more information about the database, which included 21 disks and 1.1 million pages of information about tax exempt groups.

“We were astonished to learn days ago from the Justice Department that these 21 disks contained confidential taxpayer information protected by federal law. We ask that you immediately produce all material explaining how these disks were prepared and transmitted to the FBI," the letter states. “The IRS’s transmittal of this information to the FBI shows that the IRS took affirmative steps to provide sensitive evidentiary material to law-enforcement officials about the political speech of nonprofits. At the very least, this information suggests that the IRS considered the political speech activities of nonprofits to be worthy of investigation by federal law-enforcement officials. The IRS apparently considered political speech by nonprofit groups to be so troublesome that it illegally assisted federal law-enforcement officials in assembling a massive database of the lawful political speech of thousands of American citizens, weeks before the 2010 midterm elections, using confidential taxpayer information.”

The IRS has been withholding information about the IRS working with the FBI in this particular way from Congress, despite multiple requests for transparency.

“Despite two Committee subpoenas, the IRS has not produced material relating to these 21 disks and all associated information… The subpoena [to the IRS] created a legal requirement on you, as the Commissioner of the IRS, to identify and produce all subpoenaed material in an expeditious manner,"

The letter to Commissioner Koskinen states. "Your choice to withhold this highly relevant material obstructs the Committee’s ongoing oversight obligations – especially when this information implicates violations of federal law.”

Koskinen has been asked to respond to previously issued subpoenas about the database and has been asked to provide additional information about the communication between Lerner and the Election Crimes Division at DOJ.
Night Watch

North Korea: On 8 June, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that an American citizen entered the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as a tourist on 29 April and acted in violation of the DPRK law, contrary to the purpose of tourism during his stay. He was arrested in mid-May.

The agency said, "A relevant organ of the DPRK detained him and is investigating him."

Comment: Three American citizens are now in North Korean custody. One has been sentenced to 15 years at hard labor for subversion, meaning he engaged in Christian missionary activity. The North Koreans have not announced the sentence of an earlier tourist who was detained for acting strangely by requesting asylum.

It is worth repeating that would-be defectors who say they want to help North Korea or stay in North Korea are automatically considered spies. Detained Americans provide the North with the justification to deal with the US whenever the North considers it advantageous.

Note: This incident occurred weeks before the US hostage exchange with the Taliban.

Pakistan: Three deadly security incidents occurred on Sunday.

The most sensational was the attack at Karachi International Airport by a group of gunmen, in which at least 24 people died, including ten attackers. At least 14 people were wounded. The killed terminal staff personnel were said to be mostly security guards from the Airport Security Force (ASF) and some airline workers.

The authorities suspended flight operations, closed the airport terminal and evacuated staff and passengers. Army commandos engaged in a six-hour firefight until they killed the attackers and declared the airport secure.

During this Watch, gunfire resumed at Karachi, wounding one paramilitary Sindh Ranger on the morning of 9 June. In addition, the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack. A senior official claimed its purpose was to hijack an aircraft as passengers were boarding. The rampage followed after airport security personnel prevented the hijacking.

Comment: After the publicity about the fragmentation of the TTP, its leaders evidently feel the need to demonstrate their strength as a threat. If that is the case, Readers should expect more sensational attacks.

A spokesman for the Rangers said "Indian arms and ammunition" were found on the bodies of the dead militants. There is no corroboration of this statement.

The second deadly attack occurred in western Baluchistan near the border with Iran. Five suicide bombers attacked the two hotels where 300 Shiite pilgrims were staying before returning to Iran. More than 23 civilians were killed.

Comment: No group has claimed responsibility for this attack, but attacks against Shiites usually are the handiwork of Sunni militant groups. The Pakistani Taliban are openly hostile to Shiites. Attacks occur regularly in Quetta, Baluchistan's capital, and in other major cities that have a significant Shiite population, such as Karachi and Islamabad.

The third incident was a successful government operation in Baluchistan against fighters from the Baluch Republican Army (BRA). Government paramilitary forces killed ten insurgents.

Comment: The third incident was a follow-up to an operation last Thursday in which government forces killed 30 BRA members. The BRA is responsible for attacks on gas pipelines and infrastructure in Baluchistan.

The three incidents showcase the diversity, dispersal and gravity of the threats to Pakistan's internal security. The attack at Karachi demonstrates the reach of one or more Pakistani Taliban factions. The last such attack in Karachi was against a naval base in 2011.

Afghanistan: On Sunday Afghanistan's National Security Council (NSC) accused "foreign intelligence services" of responsibility for Friday's attack targeting presidential front-runner Abdullah Abdullah. Abdullah survived the assassination attempt, which included a suicide bombing against his campaign motorcade in Kabul. Twelve people died.

"Initial investigations indicate foreign intelligence services were involved in this incident through Lashkar-e-Taiba in an organized manner, and the terrorists were aiming to disrupt the election in Afghanistan," according to an official statement.

Afghanistan-Pakistan: Afghanistan said last week that it was pulling out of security talks in Islamabad because of an increase in cross-border attacks.

The NSC "condemned" the increasing numbers of "rocket attacks by the Pakistani military against the country." It said the attacks are aimed at disrupting the run-off presidential election scheduled for 14 June. The NSC statement said Friday's attack on Abdullah was "the worst incident during the election campaign."

Comment: "Foreign intelligence services" refers to Pakistani intelligence. The Afghan government is pre-disposed to perceive Pakistani meddling in every serious security incident. It has good reason to be suspicious because almost all weapons and explosives in eastern and southern Afghanistan ultimately come from or through Pakistan. The most dangerous groups fighting the Afghan government have bases and protection in Pakistan and a long history of support from Pakistani intelligence.

An Abdullah Abdullah-led government would have strained relations with Pakistan because he primarily represents tribes and interests that are suspicious of the Pashtuns and deeply suspicious of Pakistani intelligence meddling.

Ukraine: President Petro Poroshenko was sworn into office on 7 June. In his speech he said that Ukraine would never give up Crimea and would not stop seeking closer ties with the West. He also promised to end operations against the eastern separatists this week.

Comment: The separatists rejected an offer of a ceasefire and appear to have launched a counter-offensive. Most cities in Luhansk and Donetsk regions reported attacks by separatist forces. They included Mariupol, on the southern coast. Forces loyal to the Kyiv regime supposedly had regained control of the city last month.

Egypt: On 8 June Retired Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was sworn in as president before the Supreme Constitutional Court in Cairo. In a speech on Sunday evening, he promised no reconciliation with criminals or with people who incited violence against civilians.

Comment: Al-Sisi's tone was stern and the message was directed at the Muslim Brotherhood. His priority is internal security, as the foundation of comprehensive development. His language suggests he considers himself as having saved the nation. There will be no outreach to his opponents.

Jihadists Have 170,000 Missiles Aimed at Israel

Pamela Geller / Atlas Shrugs

The more things change, the more they stay the same. in 1948 The Muslim world “made clear they would go to war to prevent the establishment of a Jewish state. The holy men of Al-Azhar University in Cairo called on the Muslim world to proclaim a jihad (holy war) against the Jews.”

And no matter how many times the tiny Jewish state, defeats the annihilationists, the Muslim world refuses to let the Jews be.
“IDF Official: 170,000 Missiles Aimed at Israel,” Israel National News, June 9, 2014Terror groups are now pointing tens of thousands of missiles at Israel, a top IDF officer told listeners at the Herzliya Conference.
Illustration: Gaza terrorists manufacturing rocketsTerror groups have managed to replenish their supply of missiles, a year and a half after Israel delivered a crushing blow to Hamas in Operation Pillar of Defense, said Itai Brun, director of research in the IDF Intelligence branch. Speaking at the annual Herzliya Conference, Brun said said that there were hundreds of long-range missiles in Gaza – and that between Hezbollah, Hamas, and the other Gaza terror groups, there were now 170,000 missiles aimed at Israel.
Replenishing their missile supply was a chief aim of both Hezbollah and Hamas after the 2006 Lebanon War, in which Hezbollah attacked Israel with thousands of rockets, and Pillar of Defense in 2012, when Hamas slammed Israel with over 10,000 rockets. The campaign has been very successful, Brun said, citing the 170,000 figure. With that, he said, most of those rockets were of the Kassam variety – homemade, very short range.
However, things are changing for the worse, he told hundreds of listeners at the Conference Monday. “Until now the terror groups had no guidance systems and could only approximate targets, but they are improving their aim, thanks to technology. Iran has been very helpful to them in this regard,” he said.
Regarding Iran, Brun said that the negotiations the country was holding with the West on its nuclear program was very entwined with the visions various groups in the country had for Iranian society. So far, he said, the Iranians were keeping to the agreements they had made, but make no mistake – they were doggedly preparing for the “great war” against Israel and the Jews, he said.
Iran was also working hard to make its mark on Syria, where, Brun said, 80% of the forces fighting Bashar al-Assad had an Islamist agenda. Many of the victories in the revolution, however, have been achieved by secular groups, which are currently in control of areas of Syria bordering Israel. Assad, added Brun, was indeed dismantling his chemical weapon stash, as promised, but his soldiers were getting weary of defending their boss, he added.

Obama to free Gitmo jihad terrorist because “he took up yoga and read a biography of the Dalai Lama”

/ Jihad Watch
File photo of detainees sitting in a holding area at Naval Base Guantanamo BayEssentially this amounts to freeing jihad terrorists who are determined to kill Americans and sending them back to a place where they can kill Americans, with no consequences and no supervision. What could possibly go wrong?

“Obama to free Gitmo terrorist ‘because he took up yoga,’” by Paul Sperry, New York Post, June 7, 2014:
If you thought President Obama’s release of five top Taliban commanders in exchange for POW Bowe Bergdahl was bad, wait until you see what his Gitmo parole board plans.
Desperate to empty the Guantanamo Bay prison by the end of his term, Obama quietly is giving “get out of jail free” cards for the flimsiest of excuses.
One al Qaeda suspect captured in Afghanistan is considered reformed because he took up yoga and read a biography of the Dalai Lama. Another is eligible for release because of his “positive attitude.”
And one longtime detainee, a former bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, is now harmless because he’s going to start a “milk and honey farm.”
The Periodic Review Board already helped clear 78 of the remaining 149 prisoners for release, documents show, and has scheduled more hearings for this summer.
Many of these men were dubbed “forever prisoners” because of the threat they posed to the US — with intelligence officials warning that, if free, they would return to the jihad to kill Americans.
Based on past cases, that’s a good bet.
In a report on detainee recidivism, Obama’s own director of national intelligence this year documented that 178, or 29 percent, of the 614 prisoners already transferred from the prison have been confirmed to have, or are suspected of having, re-engaged in terrorism.
That means for every three freed from Gitmo, one has rejoined the war against us. Intelligence analysts admit their ability to track all former detainees is limited, so the recidivism rate may, in fact, be much higher.
One notorious recidivist, Abdullah Gulam Rasoul, became the Taliban’s operations commander in southern Afghanistan soon after his 2007 release from Gitmo. He was blamed for masterminding a surge in roadside attacks against American troops and organizing assaults on US aircraft in Afghanistan.
Another repeat terrorist is Said Ali al-Shihri, who after his 2007 release ran al Qaeda’s Yemeni branch and helped plan the deadly bombing of the US Embassy there.
Already, one of the five Taliban leaders freed last week in exchange for Bergdahl — Mullah Noorullah Noori — has pledged to return to fight Americans in Afghanistan.
Obama’s terrorist parole board was established in 2011. He appoints its members — officials from the Justice Department, Pentagon, State Department and Homeland Security — without a congressional confirmation process. It is secretive and lacking in accountability.
In setting up the Periodic Review Board, meanwhile, Obama prohibited members from relying on information that has been obtained as a result of “cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment (in order) to support a determination that continued law of war detention is warranted for a detainee.”
The bias against interrogation evidence potentially opens up the release of some of Gitmo’s hardest cases, including al Qaeda leader Abu Zubaydah, 2002 Bali bombing mastermind “Hambali,” and Mohammed al-Qahtani, the suspected 20th hijacker of the 9/11 attacks.
But these releases won’t cause the same outcry, because it’s being done in virtual secrecy. Already, more than 600 prisoners have been transferred out of Gitmo with little fanfare. Two hundred of them were sent back to Afghanistan.
As defense lawyer David Remes explained to Al Jazeera news network, “The Periodic Review Board is likely to be predisposed to approval to transfer because the idea here is to close down Guantanamo.”…

Former Soldiers Recount Trying Search For Missing POW Bowe Bergdahl

Former Soldiers Recount Trying Search For Missing POW Bowe Bergdahl
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (MCT) — When Anchorage-based Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl went missing at a lightly fortified outpost in southeastern Afghanistan in 2009, soldiers he left behind say it upended their deployment mission from one of turning Afghans away from the Taliban into a dangerous and fruitless rescue operation.

“Everybody’s improving their own areas, improving the villages around them, making life better and making it easier for us to leave — we started the engine, we walk away,” said Nick Tabaczka, then a staff sergeant in Blackfoot Company (the same unit as Bergdahl) and now a University of Alaska Anchorage student. “When all this happened, everything changed.”

“After Bergdahl disappeared, we started doing our rescue missions back to back,” said Kenneth Nall, then a private and now a stay-at-home dad. “That’s when people were starting to get hurt all the time, because we had pushed so many more soldiers in theater to look for this guy.” Nall himself was badly injured when his Army vehicle struck an improvised bomb in the search for Bergdahl.

The first jubilant moments when Bergdahl was released by the Taliban on May 31 in a swap for five Guantanamo prisoners quickly turned sour and political. Some in Congress objected to the swap.

Members of Bergdahl’s Second Platoon, interviewed in national media (in some cases in arrangements made by Republican strategists), described Bergdahl as a deserter. The former soldiers said at least two Anchorage-based soldiers were killed in action because of him.

With the issue simmering on the national stage, four former soldiers from Bergdahl’s company, including three from the platoon that split duty at Outpost Mest with Bergdahl’s platoon, agreed to an interview last week. They said they wanted to express solidarity with the soldiers from the Second Platoon, at least on the point that the Army should investigate Bergdahl as a deserter who endangered his fellow soldiers and should be held to account in a court-martial if the facts warrant.

But they also said they had no interest in getting involved in the partisan politics surrounding Bergdahl’s release and said they were happy he can now come home — even if his destination is a brig and not his hometown of Hailey, Idaho.

The four — Tabaczka, 34, from Manistee, Mich.; Nall, 35, from Lubbock, Texas; former Sgt. Johnathan Rice, 27, from Daytona Beach, Fla.; and former Spc. Ryan McNeely, 27, from Buchanan, Mich. — all remained in the Anchorage area as civilians after leaving the Army’s 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. They served in the Brigade’s 2009 deployment to Afghanistan with the 150-soldier Blackfoot Company of the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Rice approached the Anchorage Daily News /Alaska Dispatch last week to express his opinions on Bergdahl’s release.

Like father like son...traitors both
By: Diane Sori

Now ain't this a kick in the head....Bowe Bergdahl keeps declining phone calls from his family.

And even with his family having been so vocal and active these past five years in trying to secure his release, Bowe Bergdahl continues to say that he's NOT yet ready to speak with them even though it's been more than a week since his release, and that seems quite odd as he is free to do so at any time. But when your father still sports the beard of the enemy after saying he'd shave it off upon his son's release...and after he utters words praising allah on national television for all to hear...you just know that something is just NOT 'kosher' as they say.

Now add in that Bergdahl’s sister sent him a letter and he has NOT yet responded to that either, and this whole Bergdahl 'dog and pony show' becomes even odder.

Odd indeed as everything surrounding Bowe Bergdahl's sudden release from captivity is an enigma starting with Obama's 'supposed' reason for securing his release at the time he did. Remember, the Obama administration claimed that immediate action was necessary to get Bowe home because of reports...reports from whom is still a question that remains unanswered...that his health had significantly declined, yet now it seems that aside from some minor gum and skin issues...NOT unexpected as you just know the Taliban never heard of soap and water or a toothbrush simply by looking at them...Bergdahl is apparently in good overall health, and is in NO way malnourished as he appeared to be in videos the Taliban made and released of him late last year.

In fact, some reports are saying he looks better physically than he did on the day he, of his own free will, walked away to join the enemy in jihad.

And his release is beyond just a mere controversy as Barack HUSSEIN Obama...yet again acting with the impunity and arrogance of a king while he and his minions attack any and all questions concerning his actions with self-righteous indignation better befitting a third world dictator...most assuredly broke the law by transferring from GITMO five of the most vile murdering bast*rds as ever there was without the required Congressional notification and approval. And now add in the words of Secretary of State John 'Swiftboat' Kerry...a traitor in his own right... defending the prisoner exchange ...the five for one exchange...saying it would have been both “offensive and incomprehensible” to leave Bergdahl in the hands of people who might torture him or “cut off his head.”

How convenient that Kerry forgets to speak of or even care about the countless American troops his boss's actions have been put in danger of their possibly being tortured or having their heads cut off... but hey, what does that matter as long as the brethren are happy, and with this deal you just know that they are happy indeed.

But the bottom line is that Bowe Bergdahl did desert both his post and his fellow soldiers, and that at least eight of ours died looking for him. And so Bergdahl must be held accountable, called to task, and punished...YES punished...for his traitorous actions. Yet even with the bottom line there is more...much more...to the Bergdahl story then we are being told and it involves Bob Bergdahl, a man whose actions and sympathizes most definitely side with the very people who held his son captive these five long years.

Held his son captive we have been told, but being Bowe's obviously good physical condition could... and I only say could...could Bob Bergdahl have set his son up to do his own bidding...to align himself through Bowe with America's enemy. There is a trail of evidence that does point in that direction and it goes even deeper than Bob Begdahl's infamous tweets (and there have been close to 5,000 of them) that have since been removed, and it goes even deeper than his blasphemous words praising allah...words in reality that speak of islam's victory and sanctity that had Obama smiling as he said them.

The very man who early on went on the internet...went on the social media...to criticize Obama and his lack of actions in trying to secure his son's release is now Obama's buddy complete with hugs and kisses for the camera. The very man who back in 2013 made a video for the Pakistani government thanking them for their sacrifices...what sacrifices I wonder...and then thanking the Taliban themselves for their sacrifices...thanking the very ones holding his son...is a red flag that all is NOT right with this man.

In this video Bob Bergdahl says, "We must also thank those who cared for our son for almost two years. We know our son is a prisoner, but at the same time a guest in your home." Now please tell me what kind of father would thank the enemy for holding their son prisoner and worse yet, how did Bob Bergdahl know his son was in the custody of the Taliban in Pakistan...how the hell did he know that when 'supposedly' NO one in this administration knew that...and note I say 'supposedly.'

And while we know that Bob Bergdahl was in contact with some in Afghanistan during the years of his son's captivity, what was NOT well-known was that Bob Bergdahl, in a 2013 interview with a local Idaho newspaper (Idaho Mountain Express) said that he felt that exchanging GITMO prisoners for his son was something he considered a win-win situation for America...and that retrieving a missing soldier but NOT saying Bowe's name...how odd is that...would foster good will with the Afghan people.

Since when does a loyal American father whose son is 'supposedly' held captive by the enemy care about fostering good will with the enemy...and he knew damn well that those holding Bowe were the Taliban...as in the enemy...an enemy holding his son in Pakistan.

Loyal to America Bob Bergdahl was NOT then nor is he now, and his appearance to date gives visual proof as to where his true loyalties lie.

So is Bob Bergdahl a traitor like his son or is he the Svengali who molded his son...pulled his son's strings into turning his back on America. I believe he is both as much as I believe Bowe Bergdahl is a traitor...a new breed of American traitor whose family played on 'We the Peoples' sympathizes and cost at least six true American heroes their lives and for that punishment must be swift and just...and just has any meanings as you dear reader well know.
