Who Will Pick Up The Pieces When ObamaCare Crashes and Burns?

Despite all the hoopla from the Administration and its media shills about how wonderful it is that a certain, arbitrary number of American citizens have “signed up” for ObamaCare by particular benchmark dates, the fact remains this federal law is rotten from start to finish. It remains one of those rare pieces of legislation that contains on balance not one positive provision; not a single worthwhile crossed “t” or dotted “i.”

Still, we taxpayers continue to pay billions for ObamaCare’s implementation, even as it forces millions of citizens into healthcare plans that do not meet their needs and into relationships with doctors not of their choice. As the finest healthcare system on the planet unravels and burns because of ObamaCare, our generation’s Nero fiddles and bloviates about how great it is, and how “easy-peasey” it is to become an ObamaCare member, in the childish phraseology of Valerie Jarrett, one of the President’s key advisers.

In the 2013 edition of his annual Wastebook, Republican Sen. Tom Coburn lists the year’s most wasteful government programs, all funded by taxpayer dollars. Some of these programs range from tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars -- such as $390,000 spent by NASA to dress a man in a green costume to teach kids about global warming on YouTube. Others -- like the $65 million in federal relief funds for Hurricane Sandy spent by state and local politicians on tourism-related television ads -- reach nine figures and beyond. The point of the Wastebook is to illustrate by concrete examples the amount of federal waste occurring every day, all across America.

Yet, there is one government program that needs no special attention, and ranks as the most wasteful, ineffectual attempt at federal micromanagement since Prohibition: ObamaCare. The damage wrought by ObamaCare can be measured in many ways: its astronomical economic costs, its negative impact on personal freedom, or the irreparable damage visited on America’s healthcare system. By whatever yardstick one uses, the law is and will be a disaster.

Often, wasteful government programs are limited in their impact to economic loss, such as funding irrelevant scientific studies with no real-world application. Other examples, like the $1.7-billion NSA data center under construction in Utah that cannot keep its equipment from melting down, have serious civil liberties implications that spread the damage far beyond economic costs.

In a class by itself is ObamaCare, which not only hands taxpayers another $17 trillion in long-term unfunded liabilities, and forces employers to choose between religious freedom and crippling IRS fines, but also directly affects the health and well being of every single American. This nightmare scenario hits doctors, patients and hospitals even as the healthcare industry struggles to meet an ever-changing flood of regulatory requirements that already were making healthcare more expensive and less efficient, not better.

The cognitive dissonance displayed by top Obama Administration officials -- seeing the reality of ObamaCare, yet denying any problem is more than just a temporary “glitch” -- only exacerbates this devastation. Rather than hit the brakes and find a viable, long-term solution to close the Pandora’s Box they have opened, Democrats have turned a blind-eye to Obama’s illegal “work-arounds” that defy the rule of law and jeopardize the balance of power between the White House and Congress.

Some of these “fixes” were passed in a matter of seconds, without even so much as a heads-up to members of Congress that a vote was occurring. Each change, delay, or “Executive decision” has only served as warning to Americans that the trouble we see now is just the tip of the iceberg; a small glimpse of things to come.

Clearly, electoral politics are more important to Democrats than the general welfare of the American public, as revealed right off the bat in the rush to launch ObamaCare even before its $379 million website was functional (and it still is not working correctly). Winning elections and achieving legislative “victories” was the true motivation for this shoddily constructed model of healthcare “reform.” Now, as we say in the South, many of these Democrats who supported ObamaCare as legislation, are being hoisted on their own petard – staring at defeat this November.

There are legislative and appropriations measures Republicans in the House, and even the Senate, can take in the interim to slow down parts of ObamaCare; as well as to stop the President’s unlawful steps to delay certain provisions to make his Administration look better, or at least not look so bad. It is to be hoped that between now and the 2016 national election, those steps will be taken.

The overarching goal, however, must be to ensure that the Republican nominee for President two years hence defeats Hillary Clinton or whoever the Democrats nominate. This is essential because ObamaCare will crash and burn; it will fail. And we must do everything in our power to make certain no supporter of this legislative monstrosity is residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to pick up the pieces when the downfall comes.

Turns out Sarah Palin was right.

Obamacare does have Death Panels, and they are currently disguised as the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee.

In this week when Obamacare finally turns one day old, the political problems that our economic recovery face have never been on better display.

While the stock market makes new highs, even the Fed is acknowledging that this recovery is different. And because it’s different, Wall Street is winning and Main Street is losing.

“Although we work through financial markets, our goal is to help Main Street, not Wall Street,” said the People’s Commissar of Banking Janet Yellen, chair of the largest bank in the history of the world, wholly owned by Congress and the member banks.

Viva la Humans!

Because if the goal is to help Main Street, the Fed has been a pretty poor instrument. And that’s how it should be.

Even economists agree that there is a limited amount any central bank can do to affect the economy with monetary policy.

That too is as it should be.

Imagine a world where the Federal Reserve not only engineered monetary policy, but was social policy was well.

Oh that’s right, you don’t have to. They do that already.

And that’s largely why you see a tale of two economies.

The Fed is trying to aid and abet the government in its insatiable appetite for more cash.

That’s why manufacturing drove a rebound in the economy in March. Or, on the other hand, maybe it didn’t.

Two widely watched indicators of strength in the economy, the ISM survey of manufacturers and a similar index put out by Markit showed varying degrees confidence that the economy is expanding.

“Fourteen of the 18 industries tracked by the ISM said their companies posted growth in March,” writes MarketWatch, “and almost every respondent said either their business or the economy is getting better.”

Yet MarketWatch also reports that the widely watched private estimate from Markit showed growth in manufacturing stagnant or slowing.

“New orders dipped to 58.1 from 59.6 and employment fell to 53.9 from 54.1 in February,” reports the online finance site. “The slight dropoff in the March PMI comes after the Markit index rose in February to the highest level in almost four years, helped by manufacturers catching up after winter-related softness in January.”

Not coincidentally, the market is also of two minds regarding the comments from Yellen, who yesterday said that the Fed’s commitment to stimulus efforts remains unabated.

“This extraordinary commitment is still needed and will be for some time, and I believe that view is widely shared by my fellow policy makers,” Yellen said Monday. “The scars from the Great Recession remain, and reaching our goals will take time.”

Some see her comments as proof that the economy is on the mend, because the Fed remains committed to winding down quantitative easing and others see it as meaning the Fed won’t raise interest rate any time soon because the economy is too weak.

And both sides are right.

Indisputably things are great on Wall Street.

Indisputably things are terrible on Main Street, as even Yellen acknowledged:

One form of evidence for slack is found in other labor market data, beyond the unemployment rate or payrolls, some of which I have touched on already. For example, the seven million people who are working part time but would like a full-time job. This number is much larger than we would expect at 6.7% unemployment, based on past experience, and the existence of such a large pool of "partly unemployed" workers is a sign that labor conditions are worse than indicated by the unemployment rate.

With a record amount of money on Wall Street via the Fed, jobs can only come from one place.

It’s not the Federal Reserve Bank and it’s not Wall Street.

It’s Washington, DC that’s mucking up the works. And frankly the blame rests squarely with Democrats: Obamacare, Keystone, Wars on Wages, etc.

Obamacare alone is the single most labor-force disfiguring social program ever foisted on us by the Democrats.

And they’ve all done their part.

It’s time the Death Panels did theirs.

White House curbs major counterterrorism drill designed to test response to car bombs and chemical weapons strike

What could possibly go wrong? Concern about Islamic jihad terrorism is, as we all know, a manifestation of “hatred,” “bigotry” and “Islamophobia.” But here, this is what could go wrong:

“Disclosure of the curtailed exercise comes as al Qaeda recently issued new threats to conduct car bomb attacks in Washington. Details of the car bombing campaign were contained in the latest issue of the English-language magazine ‘Inspire,’ published by the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.” “Feds Curtail Major Counterterror Exercise in Washington,” by Bill Gertz for the Washington Free Beacon, April 1 (thanks to Matthew):
The White House sharply curbed a major counterterrorism drill scheduled for Tuesday in Washington that was designed to test the federal government response to threats of car bombs attacks and a chemical weapons strike on the Metro subway system.
The exercise, code named Eagle Horizon 2014, was cut back instead to small-scale communications checks within federal agencies.
The transfer of government functions through groups of emergency personnel located at remote secure locations as part of so-called “continuity of government” operations was scrapped, according to Obama administration security officials.
Disclosure of the curtailed exercise comes as al Qaeda recently issued new threats to conduct car bomb attacks in Washington. Details of the car bombing campaign were contained in the latest issue of the English-language magazine “Inspire,” published by the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
The magazine urged Muslim youth to attack Americans with car bombs and provided detailed instructions for making the devices from easily available components, such as groups of small propane tanks used in cooking grills.
General targets were listed as Washington and New York and specific local targets were suggested for attacks on restaurants in Arlington and Alexandria as well as Washington, D.C.’s M Street designed to kill or injure “high-profile personalities,” the magazine states.
“Inspire Magazine’s goal is to empower Muslim youth. … In this section, we give you strength, power and intelligence. Believe me, using car bombs gives you all that,” the magazine said in a section called “open source jihad.”
The magazine also identified Northern Virginia as a major locale for the use of car bomb attacks because of the region’s “big military presence—almost all the military bases are based in this state.” The magazine also called for attacks there because of “federal agencies in Northern Virginia, including the headquarters of the Department of Defense and CIA; and military facilities in Hampton Roads, the site of the region’s main seaport.”
Dan Watson, a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that the exercise was reduced but declined to provide details….

Arab [Muslim] League rejects Israel as Jewish state

Pamela Geller / Atlas Shrugs

Nothing new.  It’s all the same Muslim Jew hatred — 1,400 years old, as old as Muhammad himself.

The Arab [Muslim] League has rejected, yet again, Israel as Jewish homeland. There are scores of Muslim lands but one Jewish state? No. The very existence of Israel is offensive to devout Muslims.
Arab leaders said last Wednesday they will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Islamic Jew hatred – it’s a religious imperative, it’s in the quran.

The Arab league has a long history of antisemitism. “Arab” is a cover- it’s Muslim. Arab Christians aren’t agitating against Israel. Arab pan-nationalism is Islam. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is 56 Islamic countries plus the “Palestinian” Authority. The OIC:
Bat Ye’or wrote: The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is a religious and political organization. Close to the Muslim World League of the Muslim Brotherhood, it shares the Brotherhood’s strategic and cultural vision: that of a universal religious community, the Ummah, based upon the Koran, the Sunna, and the canonical orthodoxy of shari’a. The OIC represents 56 countries and the Palestinian Authority (considered a state), the whole constituting the universal Ummah with a community of more than one billion three to six hundred million Muslims.
The OIC has a unique structure among nations and human societies. The Vatican and the various churches are de facto devoid of political power, even if they take part in politics, because in Christianity, as in Judaism, the religious and political functions have to be separated. Asian religions, too, do not represent systems that bring together religion, strategy, politics, and law within a single organizational structure.
Not only does the OIC enjoy unlimited power through the union and cohesion of all its bodies, but also to this it adds the infallibility conferred by religion. Bringing together 56 countries, including some of the richest in the world, it controls the lion’s share of global energy resources.[...]
Religion as the main aspect of the OIC emerges from its language and its targets. It seems that the OIC is restoring in the 21st century the Caliphate, the supreme controlling body for all Muslims. In their Charter (2008), Member States confirm that their union and solidarity are inspired by Islamic values. They affirm their aim to reinforce within the international arena their shared interests and the promotion of Islamic values. They commit themselves to revitalizing the pioneering role of Islam in the world, increasing the prosperity of the member states, and — in contrast to to the European states — to ensure the defense of their national sovereignty and territorial integrity. They proclaim their support for Palestine with al-Quds Al Sharif, the Arabized name for Jerusalem, as its capital, and exhort each other to promote human rights, basic freedoms, the state of law (shari’a), and democracy according to their constitutional and legal system — in other words, compliance with shari’a.

Op-ed:
The ObamaCare ruse and numbers that lie
By: Diane Sori

"There will be additional challenges to implementing the law."
- Barack HUSSEIN Obama on announcing that ObamaCare met its enrollment deadline numbers

My, my how convenient is this...7.1 million Americans have signed up for ObamaCare by the March 31st deadline and they only needed 7 million to do so. So it seems they added in the .1 for extra good measure I guess.

Like we didn't know that would happen...just like Obama winning the election in 2012 before the first vote was even cast. The fix was in from day one...or in this case from the October 1st launch date of the anything but functioning HealthCare.gov enrollment website.

The needed numbers...covering enrollments in both private health care plans via HealthCare.gov and enrollments in the individual websites offered by 14 states and the District of Columbia...were 'supposedly' met with a website still NOT totally functioning and still without security or a payment portal to make your payments to because one hasn't been built yet...the needed numbers were met even though most enrolling went on Medicaid...the needed numbers were met by counting duplicates and incomplete applications...the needed numbers were met by...well you get my drift.

Now let's get this straight...as in the truth for a change...7.1 million Americans did NOT enroll in ObamaCare...7.1 million Americans might have signed onto the HealthCare.gov website but signing onto the site to peruse the exchanges does NOT a purchase make, especially when there's NO portal to make one's payments to. NO premiums paid means the individual will be in for a rude awakening when they go to the doctor and find out they do NOT have the insurance they thought they bought.

And so the joys that are the hallmark of the failure known as ObamaCare continue on.

And let's NOT forget the 6+ million Americans who lost the insurance they were happy with and could afford due to their policies being cancelled for NO other reason than NOT meeting ObamaCare's self-anointed ridiculous coverage standards. So even if the ObamaCare released numbers were true...which we know they are NOT...that would equate to an actual wash...meaning that for all intents and purposes a breaking even has occurred for the number of those who lost their insurance equates near to the number of those now purchasing insurance...tit-for-tat and NOTHING more.

Now comes the details...trumpeting the first open enrollment period as a major success for NOT only meeting but surpassing the 7 million projected by the Congressional Budget Office needed to make ObamaCare viable, one has to wonder just how many of the previously uninsured actually are now insured...and true to form NO one knows at this time as the Obama administration will NOT release those numbers. But independent sources are claiming that only 27% of those who have secured a plan through the ObamaCare exchanges were previously uninsured. And only 53% of that 27% paid their first premium (I wonder how they did that when there's NO payment portal in operation) when 86% of those folks paid their premiums when previously insured. And this is a biggie...4.5 million previously uninsured have now signed up for Medicaid in states that expanded that program under ObamaCare...and guess who ultimately picks up that bill...we taxpayers do.

NOT good folks...NOT good at all.

Now you know why Obama will NOT release any numbers as jugging the books has become a fine art for this administration...paper shifting of figures at its best...on par with juggling the numbers of the monthly jobs figures in their favor.

More details...after all the devil's in the details...details like even after one has eventually paid their initial premium there is still NO guarantee that the following months premiums will be met by those enrolled. And how will ObamaCare be sustained when a good percentage of those signing on to ObamaCare are Medicaid enrollees...meaning the government pays for their healthcare with our tax dollars and they pay NOTHING...as they happily become Democratic voters in the process. And what about the percentage of actual enrollees who are young and healthy being lower than the numbers needed to continue to fund this abomination.

So how pray tell can Jay Carney say words to the affect that “No one expected us to come back from the brink…but we have.” How can his words have any modicum of truth to them...but hey...Carney's words fit well into this administration's reputation for...dare I say it...LIES!

LIES...LIES told that on the last day open to enroll one million Americans 'suddenly' out of the blue decided en-masse to turn on their computers and click onto HealthCare.gov to sign-up...LIES told about people deciding at the last minute to dial into call centers...and LIES told about folks at the last minute deciding to stand in long lines at assistance sites all across the country. One million Americans without health insurance just happened to do all this on the last enrollment day...the exact one million number short just the day before.

Odd isn't it...sarcastically said.

And these out-and-out LIES and hiding of ObamaCare's true numbers are the bane of the party loyal for why else are party members rushing to propose fixes as they increasingly distance themselves from this nightmare of an anything but health care plan and from the man whose name it bears. And with the mid-term elections looming large, the Democrats up for re-election know damn well that yesterday's bravado and pats on the back are NOTHING but show, for the truth about the sign-ups and the cost factors involved in sustaining this nightmare NOT to mention what it will do to the medical industry as a whole, still threatens to overshadow any initial victory Obama declares as ObamaCare remains unpopular across the board. And knowing that the Republicans will keep hammering non-stop at all the law’s inherent flaws, the Democrats know that the disaster that is ObamaCare will help Republicans win back the Senate in a big way.

So hurry up November 4th for on that day both America and 'We the People' win and Barack HUSSEIN Obama finally loses...and as the saying goes, "payback is indeed a b*tch."
