Trump's Promises Fulfilled: NASA Astronauts Splashdown to Earth After 200 Days in Space

After more than nine months in space, two NASA astronauts finally returned to Earth, touching down in the Gulf of America. Their extended mission, which was initially intended to last for only two weeks, saw them endure the challenges of living in space far beyond their expected timeframe. The astronauts faced a series of technical delays and unforeseen complications, but their safe return marks a significant milestone for both the space agency and the astronauts. 

Williams and Wilmore returned home aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, which had been docked at the International Space Station since September 2024. The capsule, which was initially used to transport NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian astronaut Aleksandr Gorbunov to the ISS, had two vacant seats reserved for Williams and Wilmore. The four astronauts couldn’t return to Earth in the same capsule until another crew of four astronauts arrived to take their place.

Russia rejects full cease-fire, but agrees to stop attacks on energy and ‘infrastructure’ in two-hour Trump call

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected President Trump’s proposal of a full, unconditional cease-fire with Ukraine on Tuesday, but agreed to halt attacks on “energy and infrastructure” — sectors Kyiv has recently, and successfully, targeted.

Elsewhere in the two-hour phone call, the Russian president demanded that Trump cut all military and intelligence assistance to Ukraine, according to a readout from the Kremlin.

A White House summary of the call did not mention the bold ask and American aid continued to flow as of early Tuesday afternoon, suggesting Trump may have ignored or rejected Putin’s gambit.

Trump was apparently able to secure one element of his cease-fire proposal, as the Kremlin announced Russia and Ukraine would release 175 of each other’s prisoners of war, with Moscow also freeing “23 seriously wounded Ukrainian servicemen” to receive treatment in their home country.

Despite Putin failing to back down, Trump called the call “very good and productive” in a post to Truth Social. Read more here.

President Donald J. Trump was right to go scorched Earth on little District Judge James Boasberg, who is violating the separation of powers by enjoining the executive in some legal gobbledygook about the president not being able to deport foreign terrorists. Boasberg ruled that the Trump administration couldn’t invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to accelerate the deportation of Venezuelan gang members—Tren de Aragua—who has been designated a terror group. The judge even ordered deportation flights to return to the United States; they didn’t, as the planes were over international waters.

The media is framing this as a constitutional crisis since Trump ignored the ruling. His communications team isn’t framing it that way, but I couldn’t care less if they did. It should be ignored. Boasberg lacks the authority to dictate what is already explicitly outlined under Article II. The only crisis is the one Boasberg creates by acting like some Americanized version of Oliver Cromwell on speed. Read more and see Xs here.
