Michigan journalist claims Whitmer admin's nursing home death count could be '100% higher' than reported
Officials in Pennsylvania and New York have also been under fire for their handling of COVID in state nursing homes

A Michigan journalist claimed on Wednesday that a 2020 "pilot program study" reveals the COVID-related nursing home death counts in the Great Lakes State could be double what Governor Gretchen Whitmer's administration has reported.

Charlie LeDuff joined "Tucker Carlson Tonight" to voice his concerns after the documents he studied purportedly showed just under half of the 6,945 deaths classified as "vital records reviews" could be traced back to nursing home addresses. Direct nursing home reportings, he said, were done on an "honor system."

LeDuff said that while New York has grouped deaths of people in nursing homes versus hospital deaths, "Michigan doesn't know."

"They found of all the rest of them that 50% were nursing home residents. You know what they did? They stopped looking," he said of the pilot study.

"Just like the story about [The State Department stopping former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's probe of the] Wuhan lab. They didn't want to know the answer. I asked them, why did you stop? [They said] It was too time-consuming."

Squad Members Called Out for Anti-Semitism in Fellow Democrats' Letter to President Biden
Rebecca Downs / Townhall Tipsheet

While violence rages between Israel and Hamas, some of the worst reactions have come from Democrats, namely members of the squad. Their fellow Democrats are finally calling them out, though, in the form of a letter addressed to President Joe Biden from Democratic members of Congress, including Reps. Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Elaine Luria (MI), Kathy Manning (NC), and Dean Phillips (MN).

As a relevant part of the letter read:

We also reject comments from Members of Congress accusing Israel of being an “apartheid state” and committing “act[s] of terrorism.” These statements are antisemitic at their core and contribute to a climate that is hostile to many Jews. We must never forget that less than eighty years ago, within the lifetime of our parents and grandparents, six million people were murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust because they were Jews. Israel has long provided the Jewish people with a homeland in which they can be safe after facing centuries of persecution.
