WND Exclusive

WASHINGTON – The Democratic National Committee is having a big problem finding a new face to fill its critical vacancy as chairman in the wake of its loss of the presidency and its continued minority role in both houses of Congress in 2016.

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first black Muslim ever to be elected to Congress, has emerged as the leading candidate, but has been entangled in a controversy over recent and older anti-Semitic public statements caught on recordings.

While the Anti-Defamation League had previously defended his candidacy, the recordings changed the minds of the leadership, which has since labeled them as “deeply disturbing and disqualifying” for the position.

To top it off, Ellison lied in writing to the ADL by telling the group his recorded statements were selectively edited and taken out of context.

However, the full audio, along with a transcript is available for all to hear for themselves.

Buh-Bye! Harry Reid Giving Farewell Address ThursdayThe date is finally set. The retiring Harry Reid will be giving his farewell address on Thursday.

Outgoing Senate minority leader Harry Reid will give his final speech Thursday morning in the Senate chamber. Majority leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Sen. Deal Heller (Reid's fellow senator from Nevada) will also be giving speeches in his honor. In the evening, there will be a reception in the Kennedy Caucus Room at the Russell Senate Office Building. The occasion will be a star-studded event of Democrats including Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Charles Schumer.

A portrait of the Nevada Democrat will be also be unveiled – a perk that usually isn’t afforded to former lawmakers until several years into retirement.

The send-off comes as Senate leaders hope for the week to be the end of their 2016 lame duck period.

It will be the end of Reid’s final legislative session as he retires after 30 years in the upper chamber - spending the final 12 as Democratic leader. He is tied for the third-longest serving Senate leader.

The Unpopular Truth About The Popular Vote

The Unpopular Truth About The Popular VoteHave you heard the news that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote? Unless you live under a rock you likely have stumbled across a barista or aspiring novelist mumbling something about how the Electoral College is unfair and undemocratic and how electors should follow “the will of the people” and vote for Hillary on Dec. 19. Because “democracy!” or something.

If we lived in a democracy, they’d have a point. Thankfully, we do not.

What too many of these uneducated and unshowered drum circlers don’t know, or don’t care to know, is the popular vote is a meaningless unit of measure. The Electoral College exists, and it is how we determine who is president. We are a union of states, hence the name United States of America, not singular blob on a map. Candidates must appeal to a broad swath of the nation with differing and sometimes conflicting interests. It’s a brilliant system.

Donald Trump didn’t campaign in California because there was no point in campaigning in California. Unless Los Angeles and San Francisco fell into the ocean, the state wasn’t in play. This left a lot of potential Republican voters deciding to skip the lines on Election Day. Same goes for New York.
