Op-ed:
On John McCain's Passing
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots on American Political Radio

"My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!"
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 26, 2018

He's gone...it was just a matter of time as no one survives glioblastoma...no one.

Arizona Senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee John Sidney McCain passed away last Saturday at the age of 81. And while I admit that I have no political love for who this man became, I do hope his passing was peaceful for I sadly know first hand what glioblastoma does to the very essence of who one is...both in body and mind.

Yet, I still will always remember John McCain as a war hero, but a war hero who sadly turned into a political enemy of sorts for while he called himself a Republican it seemed to be in name only...one of the original Rinos if you will...for in his later years this man once revered as the Senate's “maverick” did much to stab his supposed party in the back. And while many on the right actually consider John McCain to be a traitor to his Republican and conservative roots, know that this man was no traitor to America for he loved this country deeply.

The problem with John McCain was not in his personal political beliefs per se, but was in the fact that he was always calling for bi-partisan compromise...albeit compromise which more times than not aided the Democrat's leftist agenda.

John McCain, the son and grandson of four-star Navy admirals, was born on August 29, 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone, where his father was stationed at the time. Graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958, McCain volunteered to go to Vietnam where as a Navy fighter pilot on October 26, 1967, while flying his 23rd bombing mission this time over Hanoi, his A4 Skyhawk was hit by a surface-to-air missile...a missile he later described as a “flying telephone pole.” Captured by the North Vietnamese and eventually sent to the notorious “Hanoi Hilton,” John McCain was tortured in total for more than five years...with over two of those years spent in solitary confinement...yet he showed through it all what true courage, honor, and sacrifice looks like.

After his captors discovered that his father was the commander of American naval forces in the Pacific, John McCain turned down the North Vietnamese offer of an early release, recognizing that to do so would be used by the enemy solely as a propaganda tool to try and paint the communist regime as being “merciful.” And in his refusing to break Article III of the Military Code of Conduct...to “accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy”...because the offer was not extended to other POW's captured before him...McCain saw the enemy's so-called “mercy” first hand as his torture became even more brutal than before.

To read the hell McCain went through as a prisoner of the North Vietnamese click here: John McCain, Prisoner of War: A First-Person Account

Ultimately cracking under the weight of atrocities done both to his body and his mind, John McCain signed a “confession” that no one ever believed he meant, yet he always carried within himself a small sense that he had betrayed his country.

But in no way was his signature a betrayal of country for John McCain the military man, no matter his political shortcomings, will always remain the personification of an American patriot and war hero...a permanently disabled American patriot who came home from war on March 14, 1973, less then two months after the Vietnam cease fire went into effect. Now earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Distinguished Flying Cross, McCain, while broken in body but stronger in spirit, remained determined to serve the country he so loved this time via a political career after he retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain.

And it's McCain's political career...a career which lasted over four decades and started in 1976, when he was assigned as the Navy’s liaison to the U.S. Senate and ended with he being the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee....that very career sadly started to unravel in the years leading up to the end...turning itself into a mockery of what could have been a legacy of lasting greatness.

And this leaves a great many Republicans concerned that the balance of political power in the Senate will now be compromised with the passing of John McCain and with the losing of his Republican vote. But the fact is that a Republican vote was not lost but was actually gained, for during the last few years of his political career Senator McCain voted on key issues more times than not with the Democrats and against President Trump's agenda. Now leaving Arizona's Republican Governor Doug Ducey to appoint a true Republican to finish his term, John McCain's political legacy will always remain tarnished to some degree, which I think even he expected it to be, for McCain himself admitted that he was an “imperfect man just striving to serve.”

And while “striving to serve” John McCain's legacy did indeed become tarnished via the late 1980's Keating Five political corruption scandal...tarnished via his defending the Vietnam War record of lying John 'Swiftboat' Kerry... tarnished via his dismal voting record regarding veterans issues including that McCain was one of only 13 senators to vote against an amendment to add $430 million for the Department of Veteran Affairs for medical services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans...tarnished via his leadership of the thankfully failed Gang of Eight amnesty and Dreamers nonsense...tarnished via his being the cause of ObamaCare still being the law of our land with his giving the Republican's 'Repeal and Replace' health care bill the 'thumb's down' on the Senate floor while casting the crucial 51st vote against it...tarnished via John McCain himself admitted that it was he alone who passed the infamous Steele dossier to the F.B.I. saying that, “I did what any citizen should do. I received sensitive information and handed it to the FBI.”...need I say more.

But John McCain...the son, the brother, the husband, the father, and the grandfather...is still in my thoughts and prayers no matter that soon after Donald Trump was sworn in as America's 45th president he became one of the most, if not the most, critic of our new president and his 'America and Americans First' agenda. Saying that it was a departure from the values and traditions of global leadership that he saw epitomized in the United States, John McCain exposed himself to be a true globalist, something some of us have suspected for quite a long time. And in McCain's calling out President Trump every time he dared to tweet or speak about anything he did not agree with, McCain especially derived pleasure in countering Trump with tweets of his own for not only what he felt were the president's isolationist foreign policy stances, but for what he called Trump's “affection” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sad that this military hero never grasped the difference between “affection” and respect.

And so John McCain...whose persona over the years became larger-than-life and who even as the end was drawing near still commanded the attention of both sides of the political aisle as well as the nation...knew from the day he was first diagnosed with glio-stage 4 that this cancer would in a fairly short period of time kill him. And to his credit John McCain finally surrendered...he fought for life as hard as any man could but he always knew in his heart that this was one battle he could not and would not win.*

And now as the tributes and accolades come in...again from both sides of the political aisle...when Senator John McCain's name is added to the annals of American history hopefully he will be remembered as both a decent man and a warrior right up until the end. His good friend former Connecticut Senator Joe Liberman (one of the so-called 'Three Amigos' along with North Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham) said of McCain, “For a quarter of a century, I served with John in the Senate, working for bipartisan legislation to improve our country at home, and to make America a powerful force for freedom throughout the world. Getting to know John McCain was one of the greatest blessings of my time in the Senate. He was a great person, a superior public servant, and a trusted friend and colleague.” And Senator Lindsey Graham (R-NC) said on Twitter, “America and Freedom have lost one of her greatest champions... And I've lost one of my dearest friends and mentor."

Former Vice-President Joe Biden...whose elder son also succumbed to glioblastoma he at age 46...said of McCain on Twitter, "John McCain was many things – a proud graduate of the Naval Academy, a Senate colleague, a political opponent...but, to me, more than anything, John was a friend. He will be missed dearly"...while Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he will soon be introducing a resolution to rename the Senate's Russell office building after the late Senator John McCain, "so that (future) generations remember him."

And Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), another veteran permanently injured in service to this nation issued this statement: “My heart is heavy today as I join countless Americans across our country in mourning the loss of one of our nation’s greatest leaders and statesmen, one of my personal heroes, Senator John McCain. Throughout his life – as a Naval Aviator, a Prisoner of War who endured years of torture, a Congressman, and a six-term Senator – John repeatedly showed how anything is possible when armed with determination, a deep sense of patriotism and an unbreakable will..."

And so John McCain who long ago showed a level of bravery, courage, and honor few of us will ever know was also the man who broadly smiled while taking pictures with ISIS and anything but Syrian rebel fighters. And this man of stark political contradictions now stands before his God...as we all must...awaiting the only judgment that in the end truly matters.

God's speed John McCain...Rest in Peace...the battle is over...eternity and what will be your final legacy awaits.

Beating Expectations: US Consumer Confidence 'Pops' to Highest Level in Nearly Two Decades
With many political pundits scratching their heads over President Trump's polling stability and resilience in the wake of a full week of punishing headlines, it's important to bear in mind that voters are evaluating how the president is executing his job.  For many people, that's a different metric than approving of the president's character, endorsing his personal favorability, or reacting to the controversies that surround him.  The basic calculus for a great many Americans is whether or not they're better off under this administration than they were before.  And for a great many Americans, the answer is 'yes.'  Here's yet another strong economic indicator of the health of the US economy, again surprising many experts:
Consumer confidence rose in August to its highest level since October 2000, building on July's solid result. The Conference Board's index rose to 133.4 in August, despite expectations from a survey of Reuters' economists that it would fall to 126.7. The measure rose slightly last month to 127.4, up from 127.1 in June as consumers reported better feelings toward the economy in the near-term but less optimism about long-term growth.

Facebook Employees Unite to Challenge Its ‘Intolerant’ Liberal Culture
“The post went up quietly on Facebook’s internal message board last week. Titled ‘We Have a Problem With Political Diversity,’ it quickly took off inside the social network,” Kate Conger and Sheera Frenkel report for The New York Times. “We are a political monoculture that’s intolerant of different views,” senior Facebook engineer Brian Amerige wrote in the post.
It must be hell to work at Facebook if you are not a dogmatic leftist robot.

Despite the increased chatter about Facebook’s autocratic speech policies, things have not gotten better. In fact, they have gotten worse. Like most totalitarians, the leftists dig in, secure in their absolute power. They continue to steamroll over our most basic freedoms. HA! Man Behind The 3-D Printed Gun Debate Symbolically 'Flips The Bird' To Gun Control AdvocatesA U.S. District Court Judge on Monday ruled that Cody Wilson and his company, Defense Distributed, could not provide blueprints for 3-D printed guns. Wilson, however, has a different interpretation of the ruling. He believes that the judge's ruling said one thing: that he must charge to distribute his files.

"This judge's order for simply giving things away was only an authorization that we can sell it, that we can mail it, that would could email it, that we could provide it by secure transfer. I will be doing all of those things now." Wilson said during a press conference Tuesday morning. "A lot of this was about principle for me. For many years I simply chose not to sell these files because I'm an open source activist. I believe in demonstrating that there was a right to commit this information to the public domain. And so, for many years, I chose not to sell the files."

According to Wilson, his press conference was designed to correct media misinformation and headlines that state downloadable guns are now illegal, something Wilson said has never been the case.

Netanyahu: Israel has been “the defender of Europe” against “Islamic terrorism,” saved “so many lives”

Two Sources Say Chinese-owned Company Hacked Hillary’s Server; Received Duplicates of Nearly All Her Emails in Real Time

Two sources who were briefed on the situation told The Daily Caller that a Chinese-owned business operating in the D.C. area penetrated Hillary Clinton’s private server and inserted code that forwarded copies of Clinton’s emails to the Chinese company in real time.

According to the sources,
The Chinese wrote code that was embedded in the server, which generated an instant “courtesy copy” for nearly all of her emails and forwarded them to the Chinese company.
At a July 12 House Committee on the Judiciary hearing, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)  said the “Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) found that virtually all of Clinton’s emails were sent to a “foreign entity.” He did not reveal the entity’s identity, but said it was unrelated to Russia.”
The source also said that two ICIG officials, investigator Frank Rucker and attorney Janette McMillan, warned FBI official Peter Strzok and three others “repeatedly” about this, but they failed to act.

An “anomaly” had been discovered in early 2015. The source, a former intelligence official, told The Daily Caller:

Another American Dream Ended
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots on American Political Radio

“It’s Brooklyn. You don’t lock your doors...We lock our doors now. Every night.”
- Dalton Jack, Mollie Tibbetts boyfriend of two years

She's dead. And while we hoped for the best in our hearts we knew from day one that this would be the outcome. Sadly of late it seems it always is.

Mollie Tibbetts' body was found in a cornfield but ten miles from her boyfriend's home...found murdered by yet another illegal alien. Kate Steinle revisited...and as the Tibbetts family grieves...a depth of grief only the parents of murdered children can know...the Tibbetts family name now gets added to the ever-growing list of 'Angel Families.' And most of us grieve along with them for another young life has been taken by one who should never have been in our country in the first place.

Illegally...yet another Mexican criminal...a criminal by his very act of knowingly breaking our immigration laws to get and stay here...saw 24-year old Cristhian Bahena Rivera now being arrested and charged in Poweshiek County district court with first-degree murder while being held on a I.C.E. lodged immigration detainer with bail set at a five million dollar cash only bond. And this murderer led authorities directly to Mollie's body...a body he threw face-up...a body he dumped like trash...into a cornfield where he covered her body with cornstalks and leaves a little over five weeks ago.

And so 20-year old Iowa University sophomore Mollie Tibbetts was dead from day one, something many of us suspected for quite some time now, and it tore at our heartstrings to watch her dad on T.V. begging and pleading with whomever he perceived to be her abductor to let his daughter go...holding onto a glimmer of hope that his beloved Mollie was still alive. But he probably knew all along the reality that she was already dead.

Common sense and knowing of Kate Steinle's fate had to tell him just that.

By now Mollie's story is well known, how in the early evening hours of July 18th, Mollie went jogging as she had done so many times before, and that authorities investigating her disappearance found just a few weeks ago a home surveillance video that showed a black car following a woman running...a woman who turned out to be the missing co-ed. And when the car was traced back to Rivera, who had been here illegally for almost seven years; worked for the past four years at Yarrabee Farms in Brooklyn, Iowa, where he passed the government’s E-Verify system (big red flag here folks as Rivera used a false identity and a phony social security card to secure employment); and who did not try to resist arrest; Rivera told police how he saw Mollie jogging and pursued her, getting out of his car and running alongside her until she warned him she would call the police if he didn't stop following her.

And that made Rivera angry as per his police interview, but from here Rivera's story borders on the truly absurd. Claiming he panicked and “blocked” his “memory,” after getting angry at Mollie for her threat to call the police, Rivera stated that he then “blacked out” but “woke up” at an intersection in a rural part of Poweshiek County and noticed a headphone earpiece in his lap which made him remember that he had put a young woman in the trunk of his car. Adding that when he took her out of the trunk he saw blood on the side of her head, he panicked and disposed of her body in the above stated cornfield.

And if you think that's absurd how about the fact that Iowa does not have the death penalty so if convicted...as he should be...Cristhian Bahena Rivera will most likely get life in prison without parole and the people of Iowa...including the Tibbetts family themselves...will be footing the bill to keep their daughter's killer alive for decades to come.

And so Mollie Tibbetts becomes but another statistic to add to the ever-growing number of those murdered by folks in our country illegally. And while this should anger each and every American down to their very core, unfortunately it does not. And why...because the fact is that little will be done to stop these killings as long as the Democrats don't want the killing of innocents to stop. Better they let into our country and take care of illegals whose only thing the Democrats ask for in return is their votes, than it is to protect law-abiding American citizens from the very monsters who now walk amongst us.

Proof of the Democrats favoring illegals over American citizens can easily be found in the fact that after Kate Steinle's untimely death at the hands of illegal criminal alien Jose Inez Garcia Zarat, 156 Democrats voted against Kate's Law choosing instead to protect their future voting pool never mind that as of today the number of American citizens murdered by these monsters has now grown by one.

And as for the 'open border' kumbaya sorts response after learning of Mollie Tibbetts' death...when Iowa's Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a statement that expressed heartfelt grief over Mollie's death, offered condolences to her family, and praised law enforcement for their outstanding work on the case, she ended her statement by rightfully saying that Iowans “are angry that a broken immigration system allowed a predator like {Rivera} to live in our community.”

And angry Iowans are that “...a predator like Rivera” was living in one of their small Iowa communities, but the fault for that, besides our current immigration laws not being enforced, must also lie within Iowa's state government itself as the state's Democratic party recently denounced federal immigration laws and called for local officials not to enforce them. In fact, the Iowa Democratic Party 2018 platform, adopted at their convention this past June, in a section entitled 'Statement of Principals'...which has suddenly been denied all internet access to...states, "We oppose: detaining undocumented minors, immigrant detention/deportation quotas, locally enforcing federal immigration laws, mass raids/related enforcement practices, religious exclusion, 'papers please,' unnecessary travel-bans, abrogating birthright-citizenship, separating minor children from their parents when they are trying to enter the country, internment and concentration camps." And these words are a slap in the face not just to the memory of Molly Tibbetts but to all unfortunates like her.

So how did Democrat voters in Iowa react to both Mollie's death and the governor's statement? Instead of criticizing or condemning the killer or even calling for justice to be served...which Democrats nationwide rarely do...many instead chose to criticize Governor Reynolds online for what they perceived to be her “politicizing of a tragedy,” while also trying to paint her as a bigot. “You are now adding to the problem by using Mollie's death for your agenda,” a user @quanthealing tweeted, while another Iowan tweeted that “This is not an immigration issue...this is a women’s safety issue.” And a man named Rezin Secrest wrote on the governor's facebook page that, “there's no reason to blame all Latinos for this.”

But the thing is that first, only those who are racists themselves play the race card every chance they get for in no way did the governor allude to the nationality of the killer in her statement (besides Latino is not a race) and second, Mollie Tibbetts' murder was, is, and will remain an immigration issue for like Rachel Woods stated, also on the governor's facebook page,“this crime was avoidable because the murderer should not have been here in the first place”...no truer words ever spoken.

And when you add in that Mollie's murder being a woman's issue is unequivocally not true, what pro-illegal Iowans don't get is that when an American is murdered by someone here in our country illegally...no matter their country of origin...it is a general public safety issue not an issue specific to one sex.

“You saw what happened to that beautiful, incredible young woman. Should have never happened. Illegally in our country...the immigration laws are such a disgrace. We’re getting them changed.” So said President Donald Trump at a rally in West Virginia last Tuesday night, where he referred to Mollie's killing and the arrest of his rightfully stated “illegal alien” from Mexico.

And I agree with our president one hundred percent even while the Democrats are now using the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy to call attention to the legal rights of immigrants...both legal and especially illegal immigrants...under U.S. law. And while we know legal immigrants should and do have certain legal rights, what of those entering out country illegally thus breaking our laws...does the Constitution afford them certain rights as well?

According to Cristina Rodriguez, a professor at Yale Law School it does. Saying that, “Most of the provisions of the Constitution apply on the basis of personhood and jurisdiction in the United States,” Rodriguez claims that with the Constitution using the terms “people” or “person” instead of “citizen” that laws like “due process” do apply equally to everyone physically on U.S. soil, whether or not they are a citizen.

But there's an inherent flaw in Rodriguez's thinking as this battle is not about citizenship per se, but is about those illegally entering our country by breaking our laws thus being deemed criminals courtesy of their very act, and nowhere...I repeat nowhere...in the Constitution does it say we must treat criminals the same as those whom uphold and live by out laws.

And while lawyers on the left love to scream “due process” any and every time an illegal alien is caught and tagged for deportation, it must be remembered that “due process” itself is a double-edged sword of sorts, for while the Constitution via the Fifth Amendment states that,“no person...shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”...today even those words are open to judicial interpretation.

How so...just because one technically has the right to “due process”...especially those who are seeking “asylum”...does not mean those tagged for deportation without what they perceive to be a formal hearing aren’t receiving “due process.” Again how so? How about via the actual legal process known as “expedited removal.” Created by the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, the “expedited removal” process allows for immigrants who have been in this country illegally for less than two years and who are caught within 100 miles of the border to be deported almost immediately without going through a formal court hearing.

“Due Process” in action courtesy of a law already on the books, but a law Democrats choose to ignore as they clamor to secure the illegal's votes.

Also something even those on our side might not know is that while our Constitution states that under the law anyone facing a criminal charge has the right to counsel, the government is actually only required to provide counsel if the person is accused of a felony. And to date, crossing the border illegally is still a misdemeanor no matter that Trump's rightful “zero-tolerance policy” requires most illegal border crossings to be tried as criminal cases. A 'catch twenty-two' if ever there was one.

So where do we stand now as to Mollie's actual murder and where do we go regarding this entire illegal alien issue...illegal aliens not undocumented immigrants as the Democrats so love to call these criminals. To start with, Rivera's lawyer, Allan Richards, filed yet another motion for a private hearing after an earlier defense motion for a gag order was rightfully rejected, leaving Richards to then argue that the case had already become too politicized...that his client could not get a fair trial. To that I personally say that since this monster basically admitted killing Molly Tibbetts...after all he did take the police to where he hid her body and admit he placed Molly in his trunk...his trial should be swift with adjudication carried out immediately with politicization be damned.

Now as for the issue of illegal immigration itself and the Democrats wanting to pad their voter rolls coupled with the fact that Mollie's death is but another direct result of failed immigration policies that Congress still refuses to fix...not only won't the whining Democrats allow our government to do its two most basic jobs...as in securing America's borders and protecting our citizenry...but to be honest we also have to throw the Rinos into that mix. And while Congress refuses to allow immigration laws currently on the books to be wholly enforced while new laws are hashed out, voted on, and implemented; there's now the issue of sanctuary cities and states that need addressing as well...and both are something that should never have been allowed in the first place.

And while we're at it...since when did American cities become a haven for criminals...since when did I.C.E officials, whose job it is to secure our borders thus making America safe for Americans, become the enemy...since when did Americans become relegated to second place behind criminal illegal aliens...and since when did the number of Americans murdered by illegals start to rise in both number and brutality? I'll tell you since when... since Barack HUSSEIN Obama became president and his fundamental change of America began...I cannot say it any more directly than that.

Now it's up to President Trump to clean-up this Obama-initiated immigration mess, Dreamers included, but 'We the People' can help him do so by voting the Democrats out in November. But until that time President Trump must call for the “expedited removal” process to be the immigration rule of the day, and my fellow Republicans need to stop worrying about their public perception and start worrying about the reality that America is losing her American cultural identity...and sadly now doing so on the Republican watch.

Molly Tibitts had dreams, her family had dreams for her too, but those dreams were taken away from her by a young man who had no business being in our country in the first place...her blood forever also remains on the Democrats hands.

Rest in Peace dear Molly...you will not be forgotten.
