Op-ed:
A Summit in the Making...Maybe
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots on American Political Radio

President Putin is ready for such a meeting.”                    - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a recent news conference

I have said it from the day Donald J. Trump became President of these United States. I have said it continuously since then that Russia...that Vladimir Putin...is not our enemy no matter how much the media, the Democrats, and Mueller and crew so want Putin and Russia to be the cause of all America's woes. Ignoring the fact that they alone are truly what's wrong with America today, these collective sorts have made the act of routine spying...which is carried out by all nations including our own...the 'supposed' crime of the century all because Hillary Clinton was not elected to be the islamic condoning U.N.'s wanting of Barack HUSSEIN Obama's third term in office.

And now to their utter chagrin and directly on the heels of President Trump confirming that the summit with Kim Jong-un is back on again, this past Friday the Wall Street Journal reported and cited a senior administration official that plans are indeed in the works for a summit to be held between the leaders of the world's two superpowers...a formal sit-down that is way overdue...a sit-down which very well might turn out to be the true “reset button” the countries of the free world have long been waiting for.

In fact, this summit could not come at a better time to help heal the damage done by Hillary Clinton and her conniving, vindictive, crew of miscreants and traitors who have caused U.S. and Russian diplomatic relations to be at an all time low...at least on the public media-driven surface that is. Remember though that Trump and Putin do talk behind the scenes at times, which they did at the Group of 20 Summit in Germany last July where they spoke for four hours spread over two meetings, and when they had a few informal chats at last November's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit held in Da'Nang, Vietnam.

And the two men have spoken on the phone on a number of occasions as Trump does with other important world leaders...after all it's part of the job description to place calls to fellow world leaders and accept their calls in return...yet this was something Obama in general chose not to do or specifically chose not do if a particular world leader did not share his political agenda or his world view.

Just ask Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu how true that is...for its a truth that lies deep within the White House telephone records of presidential calls made and presidential calls deliberately not taken.

Getting along with Russia (and others) is a good thing, not a bad thing.” So said President Trump who in his quest for better relations with Russia made such a call just this past March 20th, when he rightfully ignored his advisers and called Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on winning his latest election while at the same time proposing a one-on-one Washington meeting at the White House in the near future. And really, why wouldn't President Trump call to congratulate his Russian counterpart President Putin...after all it was the exact same type of courtesy phone call done by previous presidents.

"An American president does not lead the free world by congratulating dictators on winning sham elections," so said Sen. John McCain when Trump's call became publicly known. And to that I say...oh really...then how come Obama did just that on March 4, 2012, five days after Putin won his election, and why then did George W. Bush call to congratulate Dimitry Medvedev in 2008, in fact saying that he was looking forward to working with him.

Never mind simple hypocrisy...this reeks both of in-your-face double standards and of a smear campaign in action.

Now as for arranging a formal summit...phone calls not withstanding...while still in the very early planning stage just know it will surely happen if for no other reason than President Trump truly wants better U.S.-Russian relations and believes Vladimir Putin also wants the same. And to that affect, according to the same senior administration official who first told of said summit, among the topics now being proposed for discussion coupled with the meeting's ultimate goal being “...to resolve long-standing differences...as well as to discuss Syria, Ukraine, and nuclear-arms control”... just know that Iran, North Korea, and China will certainly be thrown into the discussion mix.

This has been an ongoing project of Ambassador Huntsman, stretching back months, of getting a formal meeting between Putin and Trump,” as told to the Wall Street Journal by the previously stated senior Trump administration official.

And to that affect John Huntsman, our U.S. ambassador to Russia, has and still might be in Washington D.C. as he continues to work to help broker, arrange, and work out the logistics of such an all-important meeting between the two men, while at the same time publicly stating that no meeting would take place unless Vladimir Putin had issues to discuss “that were aligned with our national interests”... something I believe is just political talk to help cover the bases if the hoped for summit were to fall through.

And now comes word out of Washington that a meeting between Gen. Joe Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the Russian General Staff, would likely have to take place before a U.S.-Russian summit actually happens, with the de-escalation of the Syrian conflict being the all-encompassing topic of discussion.

Kind of like discuss the general obvious issues first and get some groundwork laid out and in place concerning those issues before diving directly into the nitty-gritty...in this case the nitty-gritty being Iran's nuclear ambitions and its wanting to call all the shots in the Middle East... shots which include their still wanting Israel's demise. Then when you can add into the mix that Russia needs our help with their stagnant if not failing economy...as in their getting our sanctions against them lifted...one can easily see why a pre-summit meeting of sorts does make sense.

But even when a summit is arranged, dates are scheduled, the location is locked in, and the agenda is set, this all-important summit between the world's two most powerful of men will most definitely still have hanging over its head the specter of Robert Mueller's ongoing witch hunt into whether then candidate Trump’s campaign staff colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election coupled with whether now President Trump obstructed justice when he found out...which we all know is pure nonsense. And also know that the liberal media will try their very best to see that this topic alone and not the hoped for progress in mending U.S.-Russian relations...relations strained during the long eight years of Obama...dominates both the summit and the surrounding media discourse.

And aiding the media in that effort sees the naysayers starting to chime in...naysayers like Richard Kauzlarich, a former deputy assistant secretary of state under Billy-Boy Clinton...imagine that...and a 'supposed' expert on Russian policy who recently stated that, "Things are so far apart between the U.S. and Russia right now that this meeting between Trump and Putin shouldn't even be happening in the first place. The US has nothing to gain here and everything to lose." Oh so very not true as we have everything to gain and so does Russia and it concerns the new alliances being formed between Russia and Israel...another topic surely to be discussed at the summit.

And this alliance is what Iran fears most and if Iran fears something it is a very good thing. You can read about this very alliance in my June 1st article Deals Made, Deals Broken, Deals on the Sly.

And then there's Mark Simakovsky, a former NATO chief of staff who recently “advised” the Department of Defense that President Trump needed to “stay on the same page” as his foreign-policy and national-security team to “project a stronger stance” to Russia and most especially that a stronger stance was needed to be projected to Vladimir Putin himself.

Forgetting that those who were actually working against President Trump have been replaced...Rex Tillerson with Mike Pompeo and islamic condoner Gen. H.R. McMaster with John Bolton...Simakovsky's words that, "there's no staying power to the U.S.'s moves," making it that "some of our allies and adversaries can say the U.S. is not the global leader on these issues because we don't have a unified policy"...are laughable at best for the reality is that the under President Trump our country is once again being respected on the world stage for we now are leading from the front, calling the shots, and having the courage to get out of deals that do not serve our country well. Case in point...Trump's saying bye-bye to Obama's very bad nuclear deal.

So when all is said and done Donald Trump's having a formal meeting...a summit if you will...with Vladimir Putin is truly a positive thing as it could help tone down both Congress' and the leftist media's efforts to continuously paint Russia and especially Putin in a bad light...a light that has become so bad that we are sadly seeing the worst diplomatic relations between our two countries since the days of the Cold War. And it's getting worse as Mueller's witch hunt sees no true end in sight even though the vast majority of his findings to date having not turned up any Trump/Russia collusion but instead point to the leadership of the Democrat Party and to Hillary Clinton herself as the ones who committed a multitude of crimes.

Remember Russia and the United States...together with Israel...need each other to successfully “clean up” the Middle East mess and set the world right again...and maybe this summit will be the first step in not only doing just that but in mending fences with a man and a country...and he in tune doing the same...who while maybe not a friend yet is nowhere near America's enemy as some want us to believe.
