NO words needed...actions to stop it are...

Edward Snowden, who has admitted leaking top-secret documents detailing the NSA's phone and Internet surveillance programs, exceeded his authorized access to the agency's computer systems while managing to smuggle out classified documents on a portable USB drive.

The small data-storage device has been banned from use on secret military networks, including those of the National Security Agency, for at least five years, The Washington Times reports.

"He should not have been able to do either of those things" without raising red flags, a private-sector IT security specialist told the Times.

NSA officials "were lying down on their job if they didn't disable the USB port," the specialist said, referring to the small socket on the side of a computer where the thumb-sized drives are inserted.

The agency is still trying to determine the extent of Snowden's breach of top-secret information. It did not respond to a request for comment from The Washington Times.

Snowden, a former NSA contractor, smuggled electronic copies of an unknown number of classified documents out of the agency's operations center in Hawaii, where he worked, The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.

A U.S. official told The Washington Times "that's one avenue" investigators are following.

Thumb drives have been banned from use on classified military systems since malicious software, thought to be of Russian origin, infected the secret computer networks of the U.S. Central Command five years ago, The Washington Times reports.

Lawmakers briefed on the matter by NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander have not commented on the USB drive, but said Snowden also exceeded his authorized access to the agency's computer systems.

"It's clear that he attempted to go places that he was not authorized to go, which should raise questions for everyone," Michigan Rep. Michael Rogers, the GOP chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told the Times.

Terrorism By Government

by / Personl Liberty Digest

In any dealings with the Internal Revenue Service, and contrary to American jurisprudence, you are first considered guilty unless you can prove your innocence.

The IRS will reject your returns and require you to provide documentary evidence of all your financial transactions. Failure to provide all required documentary evidence—for whatever reason—will result in fines and penalties and possible jail time. There is little that sends more chills down the spines of American “taxpayers” than a letter or call from an IRS functionary.

Last week, before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TITGA) J. Russell George said the IRS could not account for all the costs of an Anaheim IRS training conference attended by 2,400 IRS employees and estimated to have cost the agency $4.1 million. In other words, the agency was in violation of the very rules it uses to oppress Americans.

The conference is noteworthy because of a controversial video produced for the conference that spoofed “Star Trek” and cost about $50,000 to make. It was one of the first hints of the excessive IRS abuses to leak.

A TITGA report released May 31 claimed the IRS held 225 employee conferences between 2010 and 2012 at a cost of more than $49 million. But the cost could have been a lot more. During Congressional testimony, Faris Fink, commissioner of the IRS Small Business and Self-Employed Division and “Spock” in the video spoof — who approved the expenditures for the Anaheim conference – admitted the conference may have actually cost more than $5 million. And Gregory Kutz, the assistant inspector general for the audit, testified that the Anaheim conference was the only one of the 225 examined.

The video dialogue, the lavish, unchecked conference expenditures, the abuse of conservative groups requesting non-profit status and the list of abuses that Michael Minns wrote about last week all point to an agency that is unaccountable and out of control – which is typical of unchecked government bureaucracy.

The IRS is nothing more than a blunt instrument used to beat Americans into compliance with a socialist, redistributionist fascist government that passes itself off as a democracy. It gives a face of “legitimacy” to the government’s theft of our labor. But theft is theft whether the robbery is pulled off by a masked bandit or an agent of the state wearing a suit and tie.

In fact, theft by the state is much worse because if you are prepared or armed you can fend off the masked bandit, or perhaps hope the good agents of the state law enforcement apparatus may one day capture and prosecute the bandit and return your stolen goods, but there is no such defense against state. There is no hope to recover the goods stolen from you by an agency of the government that enforces laws that are so Byzantine that a question to a dozen IRS agents will render a dozen answers, many of them contradictory. And there is essentially no appeal for a negative IRS result, as one of the people targeted in the IRS Tea Party scandal learned when his appeal was to be heard by the very agent who had denied his status previously.

For 100 years the lie has promulgated that income taxes fund the government. Americans are taught from an early age to be a good taxpayer and to pay their “fair share.” This lie has gone so far that now the majority of the people buys into the notion that the government gets first dibs on our money and can withhold the amount that is our fair share. Then, our benevolent government gives us some back after we file our return and we happily take our “refund.”

I explained this lie in detail here and here.

Using words spoken by Beardsley Ruml, chairman of the New York Federal Reserve from 1941 to 1946, we can dispel the widely believed myth that income taxes are needed for government income. Income taxes have nothing to do with providing income to the government.

In a famous speech he read before the American Bar Association during the last year of World War II, titled “Taxes for Revenue Are Obsolete,” Ruml said, “The necessity for a government to tax in order to maintain both its independence and its solvency is true for state and local governments, but it is not true for a national government.”

The speech was originally printed in American Affairs in the January, 1946 issue. The editor of American Affairs wrote: “His [Ruml’s] thesis is that given (1) control of a central banking system and (2) an inconvertible currency, a sovereign national government is finally free of money worries and need no longer levy taxes for the purpose of providing itself with revenue. All taxation, therefore, should be regarded from the point of view of social and economic consequences.”

To read the entire speech, go here.

In a similar vein, former Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President Darryl Francis had this to say in 1974: “Since the direct method of printing money to finance government expenditures is prohibited in the United States, the monetization of government deficits has occurred indirectly.

Government debt is ultimately being financed by the creation of new money.”

Revelations of IRS abuses should be the impetus to dismantle the government shakedown agency to the last jot and tittle.

The Surveillance State

When the people lose confidence in government they lose all fear in favor of self defense. This loss of confidence in government and the elected class is happening now at breakneck speed.

Government and Congress are no longer legitimate and they have been and are passing laws right and left against the American people. Government is composed of parasitical psychopaths who have created the hyper-Orwellian surveillance state that was completely revealed in two reports by the British paper, The Guardian last week, here and here. It is exactly what I have been warning about for a number of years, since the passage of the USA Patriot Act, here and in my newsletter, The Bob Livingston Letter™ (subscription required). The USA Patriot Act is the most unpatriotic act passed since the early days of the republic, if not ever.

My repeated warnings about the growing police state and the rise of benevolent totalitarianism have often been greeted with charges of fear mongering or tin foil-hattery, first from supporters of the George W. Bush regime and now from supporters of the undocumented usurper who sits in the people’s house.

America is on life support. Unless the leviathan government is torn down to its Constitutional foundation, the country will rip itself apart. It may well be too late to prevent it.

The government, through its alphabet soup agencies and its surveillance apparatus, are terrorizing the American people. Terrorizing by government cannot survive against a well armed citizenry. That is why the elected class have pushed so hard to disarm the populace and why the Department of Homeland Security has been militarizing itself at breakneck speed.

Obama-backed Syrian jihadists massacre Christian village population

From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer

duwayr6.jpgHow great it is that the U.S. is going to be aiding these jihadists. Syria will be cleansed of Christians in no time, and peace will ensue.

"Syria Militants Massacre Christian Village Population (Graphic Images)," from Syria Report, June 12 (thanks to Joel):
More details of a massacre in Homs late last month have emerged following the global outcry of a massacre in Deir el-Zour yesterday.
The massacre, carried out by Free Syrian Army militants reportedly targeted men, women and children in the Christian village of al-Duwayr/Douar close to the city of Homs and the border with Lebanon.
The incident received little media attention, having occurred at the same time as thousands of Syrian troops converged on the insurgent-occupied town of al-Qusayr.
According to sources, around 350 heavily armed militants entered the village, broke into homes and assembled residents in the main square of the village where they were executed. The final death toll is not known but photos show severe damage to property in the village.
Syrian army sources said that they reached the village after the massacre, resulting in clashes with militants. Sources also reported that Turkish and Chechen extremists were among the perpetrators. Chechen militants are known to have kidnapped two Christian bishops in Aleppo earlier this year. The following images show al-Duwayr/Douar village after the massacre:

Conditions for ethnic and religious minorities have been made increasingly worse as Free Syrian Army affiliated organizations including Jabhat al-Nusra increase ethnic and sectarian cleansing across Syria. Kidnappings, executions and assassinations are common.
Late last month, around the time of the massacre in Homs, a fifteen year old girl was kidnapped by militants in Damascus, who demanded $100,000 for her release. Miryam Jbeil, a niece Damascus-based Catholic priest Nader Jbeil, was released after a number of days in captivity.

I don’t trust my government as far as I can spit. And you shouldn’t either.

There I’ve said it. I love my country, but I don’t love our politicians or government bureaucrats. Why would I? History proves that people in government the world over are liars, cheats, frauds, incompetents, common criminals, tyrants, and even murderers. Yet you think I should trust them with my phone records, emails, tax records, and healthcare? If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

Let’s not worry about the true despots of world history like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, or Pol Pot who enslaved and murdered their own people. Let’s ignore King George and the British generals who ordered American colonists burned alive in a locked church. Let’s ignore Southerners who whipped and hung black slaves for daring to want freedom. Let's ignore all that serious and deadly stuff.

Let’s just look at recent history - SEO (Since Electing Obama):

Obama’s IRS persecuted honest people for the crime of being conservative critics of Obama, yet nominated proven tax cheats like Tom Daschle, Nancy Killefer, Hilda Solis, and Ron Kirk to major positions in his administration.

He also criticized Mitt Romney for keeping his money in the Cayman Islands, but then named Jack Lew to become Treasury Secretary, even though Lew keeps his money in the Cayman Islands. Do you trust these cheats and hypocrites to monitor your taxes, oversee your healthcare, or listen to your phone calls?

Obama and Hillary lied about Benghazi, ordered Susan Rice to lie to the media for 2 weeks, then Obama even lied about the terrorist attack multiple times in front of the United Nations.

It now appears Hillary Clinton ordered a cover up of a prostitution scandal in her own State Department.

General James Clapper lied in front of Congress about the NSA surveillance program.
The head of the IRS lied in front of Congress about the scandal involving the targeting of conservatives. I know- I’m one of the victims that was targeted.

Obama claims he knew nothing about IRS persecution, even though he visited with the head of the IRS 157 times in his first term. And he met with the head of the IRS employees union the day before the targeting began.

Attorney General Eric Holder appears to have lied under oath about spying on journalists- including James Rosen of Fox News (and his parents). Holder said he knew nothing about it, while he was the one signing the request for surveillance.

Then there’s the scandals themselves. The IRS scandal. The Benghazi scandal. The Justice Department media spying scandal. The Kathleen Sebelius Obamacare extortion scandal.

These scandals all tie together. They represent “Government Gone Wild.” Our government is out of control. It is run by meglo-maniacs and control freaks who lie with impunity. Everything is always “top secret” and “on a need to know basis.” And only they need to know. They will take care of us and protect us- whether we like it or not, want it or not, ask for it or not, need it or not.

Personally, I think the group we need protecting from is government.

I don’t want the same government employees who at the IRS decided to persecute conservatives like me, to be in charge of surveillance over my phone calls and emails. If I’m an outspoken critic of Obama, will they decide to listen in on my calls with the intent of finding a reason to persecute me? If I run for office as a Republican, will they be listening in to my calls to find dirt on me? Will they be reading my emails to find out my campaign strategy?

I don’t want the same government employees, who at the IRS decided to persecute conservatives like me, to be in charge of Obamacare. When I need approval for expensive cancer treatments, will they withhold approval, or delay reimbursements until I die? Will they simply make my life miserable, while I’m dealing with a life-threatening illness? Will they run “targeted Death Panels” by denying treatment to critics of Obama?

I don’t want the government educators who recently held a "toy gun buyback program" at a California school teaching my children. Yes, I said a "TOY gun buyback program." They asked young children to turn in their toy guns in return for books. Any educator who thought up that program shouldn’t be in charge of teaching children anything.

When I publicly criticize the obscene pensions of government employees that are bankrupting our country, should I trust that angry government employees won’t target, persecute, and spy on me? Or put me in prison on trumped up charges?

Should I assume that the same Obama administration that labeled Ron Paul supporters as "terrorists" and suggested law enforcement pay special attention, won't target Rand Paul supporters for destruction by listening to calls, reading their emails, or auditing their tax returns?

Should we assume the government won't listen in on the privileged conversations of lawyers and ACLU executives to gain an edge in a high-profile trial?

Do you honestly believe that if government wants to silence your criticism and dissent, they’ll wait for a warrant to listen to your calls? Based on what we've seen with the IRS scandal, I'd expect our government to target conservatives' conversations and emails, then only after finding something they label as "questionable," ask a judge for a warrant.

What next? Looking through our garbage, tearing open our envelopes at the post office, planting video surveillance or recording devices inside planters placed at our homes and offices - something the IRS was shopping for only days ago, until public pressure shut it down.

Based on the IRS scandal, the Justice Department scandal, the Benghazi cover-up, the Sebilius extortion scandal, the nonstop lies (often under oath) of government employees, political leaders, and even our President, why would anyone trust government “to do the right thing?” If you're smart, you should assume they'll almost always do the wrong thing.

Trust government? Trust the IRS? Trust the NSA? Trust Obama?

You’re kidding, right?

Well apparently a president can’t just make new lows for respect of American moral authority in one single term and then let it go at that.

Apparently after getting stiff-armed by our ideological enemies once in the first Obama term- turning his back on American values and getting called out on it- the administration felt the need to demonstrate crumbling American might and values by going back to that well early in the second term too.

During the first term, we suffered the embarrassment of the Chinese Communist who publicly lectured Obama about straying away from capitalism and taking on too much debt.

“China, the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt,” reported Reuters in 2011, after S&P downgrade U.S. government debt, “took the world's economic superpower to task for allowing its fiscal house to get into such disarray. It also revived its calls for a new stable global reserve currency to replace the U.S. dollar, gaining a sympathetic ear in the United Kingdom.

"The U.S. government has to come to terms with the painful fact that the good old days when it could just borrow its way out of messes of its own making are finally gone," said China's official Xinhua news agency at the time.

The president of the United States once, not long ago, stood up to Communism when they tried to take over South Korea- in this he was sustained by the whole world.

Historically-speaking it wasn’t too long ago that President Ronald Reagan seized the moral high ground by demanding that the Russians tear down the Berlin Wall. In fact, it was 26 years ago this week, as my friend Katie Pavlich points out.

Today we’re left with the president being lectured to by Chinese Communists regarding reckless spending; and, after being lectured to by Chinese Communists, in return, all Obama can offer the rest of the world is a lecture of his own about the people trusting the government.

“If people can’t trust not only the executive branch, but also don’t trust Congress and don’t trust federal judges to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution, due process, and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here,” Professor Obama said in his newest lecture standing behind banner promoting and IRS-NSA joint open house and retinal scan event.

One of those calling Obama out for B.S. was Mr. KGB himself.

In a second-term reprise, Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin in return lectured his pal Obama about “privacy.” The lecture comes in the wake of a number of snooping scandals including the IRS targeting of conservatives, the NSA spying scandal and the general Chicago-style thuggery practiced by the Obama mob.

"I can tell you that, at least in Russia, you cannot just go and tap into someone’s phone conversation without a warrant issued by court,” Putin told state press organ, Russia Today’s  Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan.

“That’s more or less the way a civilized society should go about fighting terrorism with modern-day technology. As long as it is exercised within the boundaries of the law that regulates intelligence activities, it’s alright. But if it’s unlawful, then it’s bad.”

Putin questioned how well American intelligence agencies “are controlled by the public.”

But his comments went even further, hitting Obama on policy areas no less relevant if less controversial.

Putin questioned how arming Al Qaida in Syria is helping combat Islamic terrorism worldwide. It’s a question that Americans have asked as well as the Syrian rebellion falls further under the control of Islamic extremists.

“On Wednesday,” reported the Associated Press, “activists said Syrian rebels battled Shiites in a village in the country's east, killing more than 60 people, including civilians. Earlier this week, a 15-year-old boy was executed in public by Islamist rebel fighters in the city of Aleppo for taking the Muslim Prophet Muhammad's name in vain.”

And Obama wants to give those guys weapons?

Wasn’t that the mistake Obama and Hillary made in Libya?

Widespread reports say that U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed by an Al Qaida-led terror attack in the northeastern city of Benghazi, was on a mission to recover hand-held, point-and-shoot, surface to air missiles in Libya, capable of taking down U.S. airliners. The administration armed the rebels with such weapons despite warnings by the C.I.A. of the risks involved.

[Note: Jim Geraghty at NRO has an excellent review of the arms snafu in Libya.]

Getting past the idiocy of arming people who we fought in Afghanistan, there is the little matter of not cleaning up the mess they made in Libya.

“What do you have there now?” Putin said about Libya while pointing out that Libya had a relatively high level of affluence under Gaddafi. “There is a war of everybody against everybody among various tribes, there is war for resources, and, I’m afraid, if we go the same way in Syria, there will be same havoc in Syria that we’re now witnessing in Libya.”

Don’t get me wrong.

Putin’s a bloody dictator with a past in the KGB bureaucracy.

But even liberals would agree that this wasn’t the Hope and Change that they believe in.

And it’s a sad state when we have to rely on China and Russia to point it out.
Obama needs to keep his nose and our country out of Syria
By: Diane Sori

Just as I predicted in an Op-ed from a few days ago, Barack HUSSEIN Obama has decided to officially side with the Syrian rebels…the badder guys in the battle between the bad vs. the badder…and he will now be sending them weapons…weapons paid for with our taxpayer dollars.

Obama claims his decision to directly arm the rebels came from some serious concerns about the Syrian conflict, including the fact that 90,000+ Syrians have been killed so far, and that the threat the conflict poses to regional stability is grave, for the war in Syria boils down to a war between Sunni Arabs vs. the Iran and Hezbollah backed al-Assad government.

But…and this is a biggie…by arming the rebels Obama is actually arming seasoned al-Qaeda operatives and other islamic militant groups…and that is aiding and abetting America’s enemies…as in grounds for TREASON being leveled against him (that is if anyone in Congress has the guts to do it).

Also, arming the rebels is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from sending our troops in…NOT good…NOT good at all. In fact, Obama is considering contingency plans drawn up by our military that includes placing a limited no-fly zone in parts of Syria close to Jordan, with the purpose being to protect an area inside Jordan that would become a base to train and arm Syrian rebels, and Obama is considering having our troops train those rebels…thus having our men and women in uniform work directly with rebels tied to al-Qaeda...something I don't think they'd be too happy about.

And according to White House Deputy National Security Adviser Benjamin Rhodes, “Suffice it to say, this is going to be different in both scope and scale in terms of what we are providing to the SMC (the opposition Supreme Military Council) than what we have provided before”.

Talk about being NOT good…and also remember that the United States has already given $515 million in humanitarian aid to the rebels…given aid to Sunni rebels who’ve pledged their loyalty to al-Qaeda, and Obama now has our country sharing a goal with Sunni extremist groups that want to replace al-Assad’s secular regime with islamic rule and sharia law.

Shades of Egypt all over again.

And according to a senior foreign policy official, the fact is that CIA and special operations trainers have already been training the rebels on how to use anti-aircraft weapons as well as encrypted communications equipment…equipment currently being supplied by some Persian Gulf Arab nations…nations including Saudi Arabia who financed a large purchase of infantry weapons from Croatia, and Qatar funding the rebels by as much as $3 billion over the first two years of the civil war.

And although Obama has been saying for months that the use of chemical weapons (the very same chemical weapons Sadam Hussein moved to Syria before we went into in GWB was right) would be the ‘red line’ that would have to be crossed to get America involved, and with al-Assad ‘supposedly’ having used them on 125 Syrians, we still have NO definitive proof positive that they were indeed used as the intelligence community (including France and Britain) only concluded with ‘high confidence’…and ‘high confidence’ does NOT proof positive make…that they had been used but used on a very small Russian officials have called the evidence shared by the US and the intelligence community inconclusive at best.

But even if al-Assad had used chemical weapons (the same sarin gas Sadam used on the Kurds) on his own people that still in NO way justifies us getting involved in an independent country’s civil war…especially with a country that was NEVER an ally or friend to America.

But NO matter as Obama has already notified Congress, the U(seless) N(ations), and key allies of his conclusion that chemical weapons had been used, and he now intends to authorize the transfer of those weapons to rebel groups under a classified order instructing the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) to arrange NOT only delivery of the weapons but also to teach the rebels how to use them….an action that skirts the War Powers Clause (as he did in Libya) yet again, for sending weapons and instructors to a country engaged in war is indeed getting us involved in that war…and without official Congressional approval.

Again in a word…TREASON.

The Syrian conflict will be one of the main topics of discussion next week when Obama and other world leaders meet for the Group of Eight summit in Northern Ireland. And this should be quite an interesting meeting for what was a Syrian civil war has actually, with Obama now putting our country into the middle of it, become a proxy war pitting the United States and its European and Arab allies on one side vs. Russia and Iran and their allies on the other.

And the loser NO matter who wins in Syria will be Israel for if al-Assad wins he will transfer Iranian-made Fateh-110 missiles to the Shiite Lebanese militia Hezbollah…sworn enemies of Israel…and the rebels will still be in control of certain areas of the country. And with the US then having NO say over al-Assad or the rebels, who after losing to al-Assad will be even more anti-West and anti-American than they already are, will have control of an area directly adjacent to Israel, an area that will be yet another breeding ground for terrorists…terrorists who could make it to our shores.

And if the rebels win, it’s the same thing but with them in control of the entire country…an entire country hating Israel even more than they already do and right on their border to boot, turning the entire Middle East into a powder keg ready to explode if Israel so much as breathes.

So Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s decision to arm al-Qaeda loyal Syrian rebels while here at home trying to disarm ‘We the People’ kind of makes one wonder what his true objective in arming the rebels really is…and rest assured it will NOT be good for America, ‘We the People’ or for Israel.
