White House hurries to do Hamas-linked CAIR's bidding, condemns Egypt's crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood

From Jihad Watch / Posted by Robert Spencer

About the violence against Christians and others by supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood the White House was silent.

CAIR's demand for this is here. "White House condemns Egypt's crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood," from Reuters, July 29 (thanks to Kenneth):
The White House condemned the Egyptian military's bloody weekend crackdown on demonstrators on Monday but took no immediate steps to suspend US military assistance to Egypt.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the crackdown, in which 80 people were gunned down in Cairo, sets back the process of democratization in Egypt and does not square with the interim government's pledge to swiftly return to civilian rule.
But asked if the violence would prompt the United States to suspend aid to Egypt's military, Earnest said: "I don't have any change in our posture to report to you today."
He said aid is under review, as it has been since Egypt's military takeover on July 3.
Europe's top diplomat shuttled between Egypt's rulers and the Muslim Brotherhood on Monday in an urgent mission to pull the country back from more bloodshed, but both sides were defiant and unyielding after the violence of this past weekend.
European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, making her second visit in 12 days as one of the few outsiders still able to speak to both sides, made no public comment. Supporters and opponents of Morsi left no doubt about the depth of polarization in the Arab world's most populous nation.
"It's very simple, we are not going anywhere," said Brotherhood spokesman Gehad El-Haddad, making clear the group intends to defy government orders to abandon a protest vigil of thousands of followers demanding Morsi's return.
"We are going to increase the protest," he told Reuters. "Someone has to put sense into this leadership."
Backers of the military that deposed Morsi on July 3 were equally unbending, despite Saturday's dawn carnage when security forces shot dead at least 80 Brotherhood supporters after a day of rival mass rallies.
"We asked her (Ashton), would you accept an armed sit-in under your roof?" said Mahmoud Badr, a leader of the Tamarud youth movement that mobilized huge protests against Morsi before the army moved against him.
"What if al Qaeda had a sit-in in a European country? Would you leave it be?" he asked reporters after meeting Ashton, echoing the army's branding of its opponents as terrorists.
Raising the prospect of more bloodshed erupting during Ashton's visit, the Brotherhood said it would march again on Monday evening from its month-old vigil at a mosque in northern Cairo towards offices of the Interior Ministry.
The violence has raised global anxiety that the army may move to crush the Brotherhood, a movement which emerged from decades in the shadows to win power in elections after Egypt's 2011 Arab Spring uprising against Hosni Mubarak.
Ashton met General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the army and the man behind the overthrow of Egypt's first freely-elected president. She also held talks with members of the interim government installed by the army, and representatives of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Brotherhood's political wing.
Thousands of Brotherhood supporters have been camped out for a month at Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque, demanding Morsi's reinstatement and defying threats by the army-backed authorities to remove them....
Morsi has been in detention since he was ousted and the military-backed interim government has placed him under investigation on charges that include murder.
The handling of his case by the military suggests it believes it has the support of a big majority of Egyptians.
Army chief Sisi has emerged as the public face of the new order, enjoying fawning coverage in Egyptian media and sowing doubts about the military's promise to hand over to full civilian rule with a "road map" to parliamentary elections in about six months.
A banner stretched across a road in downtown Cairo declared: "The army, the police, and the people - one hand."
Security forces shot dead dozens of Morsi supporters at dawn on Saturday when they marched from their vigil. The Health Ministry put the death toll on Monday at 80, up from 72. The Interior Ministry said one police officer had succumbed to his wounds on Monday. Nearly 300 people have died in violence since Sisi deposed Morsi....
Saturday's bloodshed was the worst since July 8, when security forces killed more than 50 Brotherhood supporters outside a Cairo barracks. The army said its forces had fired back after being attacked; the Brotherhood said its partisans were praying....

Barack Obama wants to change the subject.  He's tired of questions and congressional investigations into invasions of citizen's privacy, infringement of freedom of speech, and events that have left Americans dead without answers or accountability.

So, he dismisses a basket full of ongoing scandals as "phony."  Truth is now officially no longer necessary – or, maybe it is just "inconvenient" – from this President.  George "I cannot tell a lie" Washington and Honest Abe Lincoln can't be too happy about that.

Neither is the mother of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was killed in December, 2010 with weapons allowed to "walk across" the Mexican border into the hands of the Mexican Drug Cartel in a Justice Department approved operation known as Fast and Furious.

"Mr. President, come to Michigan and I will show you my son's grave…then let's have a conversation about your definition of phony scandals," says Brian's mother, Josephine Terry who is still looking for answers.

“These deaths are real. My son’s death was real. I am outraged that President Obama is talking about phony scandals when he knows all too well that my son was a victim of Operation Fast and Furious that was authorized by members of his Justice Department and a U.S. Attorney that he appointed.
Operation Fast and Furious was all too real for me and my family, and it directly contributed to my son’s murder,” Agent Terry's mother said in a statement released shortly after Obama trivialized her son's killing by calling the search for the truth "phony."

More than ten months ago Ambassador Chris Stevens, diplomat Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were assassinated at the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya.  America still waits for answers such as why requests for increased security prior to the attack were denied, why Stevens was even in Benghazi that night, why pleas for back up during the assault were ignored and Americans left to perish, why has no one been able to talk to survivors, why a mostly unseen video was blamed for the attack for weeks instead of Islamic terrorism, and many more questions including the whereabouts of the President on the night of the attack and why the only answer from then Secretary of State Clinton is, "What difference does it make?"

So we are left with the President who pledged the "most transparent and accountable Administration in history" now dismissing the search of the truth behind the murder of Americans in service to their country as "phony scandals."  In White House parlance that would be called a "pivot."

Kudos to Greta Van Susteren of Fox News for her dogged quest for answers and willingness to keep the search for answers alive.  In recent days, she aired the following two segments.  The first includes a video of Glen Doherty released with the consent of his family, and the second is an interview with Pat Smith, mother of Sean Smith who was also killed in Benghazi with Doherty.  "I lost my son…all I want is the truth," she says repeating her numerous assertions that President Obama, Hillary Clinton and others have "lied to her face" about her son's death.

"Does anybody think it's OK to have 40-year-old trees growing through the roofs of dilapidated houses?" -- Detroit's Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr
"A few years ago, the nonpartisan Bay Area Center for Voting Research rated Detroit as the most liberal city in America." -- Michael Tanner
Detroit was once one of the world's great cities. It was the 4th largest metropolis in America, jobs were plentiful because of the auto industry, and Motown even kept it on the cutting edge musically.
Unfortunately, from 1962 until the present day, the mayor of Detroit has been a Democrat.

The result?

Detroit's population has dropped from 1.8 million to just over 700,000, the unemployment rate is over 50% if you count the people who've given up on finding jobs, property values have dropped so much you can buy homes in the crime-ridden city for $500, and Detroit has gone bankrupt.

How did Democrats kill one of the most prosperous cities in America? With the same sort of unfettered liberalism that Democrats like Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi want to foist on the rest of the nation.

1) Unions crippled the auto industry: The Big 3 automakers could afford unions when they practically had a monopoly on auto production in the United States. However, once they started facing real competition from overseas, the unions made them less and less competitive. The unions forced the companies to pay out more than market value for their workers, put stifling work rules in place that made flexibility and innovation difficult, and created generous pension plans that are proving to be unsustainable. This wouldn't have been possible without a symbiotic relationship between the unions and the Democrats in government who tied the hands of the Big 3 automakers and simply wouldn't allow them to get rid of the unions that were slowly strangling them to death.

Eventually because of the unions, the Big 3 automakers had to deal with significantly larger costs per car than their overseas competitors and they took it out of the only place they could: the cars. As the quality of their products dropped, their competitors took an ever larger share of their market, and there were fewer jobs to go around. If you want to know why the "Motor City" is up on cinder blocks in Michigan's front yard, this is where it started.

2) White citizens were demonized until they left: Detroit was a heavily segregated city and in 1967, there were black riots. After that, white flight to the suburbs began. This was dramatically exacerbated when Coleman Young became Detroit's first black mayor in 1972. Young was cut from the same cloth as men like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, but unlike the two of them, he actually had power. Young systematically drove white government employees out of their jobs so they could be replaced by blacks, was hostile to the white suburbs, and was generally perceived as anti-white.

Naturally, a lot of white people just left, which reduced the population and significantly cut into the tax base. Today, Detroit is a 7.9% white city, and if he were alive and kicking, that would probably suit Coleman Young just fine.

3) Out-of-control crime helped drive much of the black middle class out of the city: Ever heard of "Devil's Night?" It's the night before Halloween and in Detroit, fires are set all over the city.

Combine the sort of criminal mentality that produces an unofficial "holiday" like that with a sky high unemployment rate and Draconian laws designed to make it difficult for law abiding citizens to arm themselves, and it's not a surprise that crime is a problem in Detroit. However, the issue goes much deeper than that. In case you haven't noticed, in a conflict between a cop and a criminal, the hearts of liberals almost always seem to bleed for the thug. Combine that with the liberal tendency, when money gets tight, to cut essential programs instead of their perks and the goodies they hand out to their supporters, and you end up with a police department that is both dramatically underfunded and completely incompetent.

How bad has it gotten?

"The size of the police force in Detroit has been cut by about 40 percent over the past decade," "it takes (the police) an average of 58 minutes to respond" to a call and the "police solve less than 10 percent of the crimes that are committed in Detroit."

4) Reckless government spending bankrupted the city: Detroit's tax base has been plunging like an anvil dropped into the Marianas Trench and so, in true liberal fashion, liberals have raised taxes to make up for it instead of cutting spending. "The city's per-capita tax burden is the highest in Michigan. Detroit has the country's highest property taxes on homes, the top commercial property tax and the second-highest industrial property tax." Unfortunately for Detroit, you can't get blood from a stone. As jobs and wealth fled the city, there was simply less cash available for big government programs, pensions, and the incredibly generous, but almost completely unfunded union health care program. It's fantastic that the city paid "80 percent to 100 percent of retirees' medical costs," but 99.6% of those costs were unfunded. As Obamacare supporters should have learned by now, it's a lot easier for politicians to make big promises about what they’re going to give you than it is to back them up in the real world.

5) The government is completely incompetent: Ever notice that the bigger government seems to get, the less it does anything well? Citizens of Detroit could tell you all about that. The school system is horrible, which explains why a staggering 47% of the population is illiterate. In addition, 40% of the street lights don't work, only about 1/3 of the ambulances are running, and 2/3 of the parks have been closed since 2008. Just to give you an idea of its priorities, an independent report in 2012 suggested the city fire 80% of the Water and Sewage Department including a horseshoer" that it has on staff even though it has NO HORSES.. How did the union respond to that report? "They don’t have enough people as it is right now. They are just dreaming to think they can operate that plant with less." Detroit may not have enough police, ambulances, or competent teachers, but if you ever need a horseshoe in the Motor City, they've got you covered.

Abbas: “In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli — civilian or soldier — on our lands”

by Erika Johnsen / Hot Air

Diplomat after diplomat has tried to help solve the longstanding territorial conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and the last direct negotiations collapsed after barely a day back in 2010 — but John Kerry has been slowly but surely trying to inch both parties back toward the negotiating table. After some swirling rumors to the contrary, both groups finally agreed last week to send representatives to Washington without any preconditions for another round of peace talks that the State Department is hoping will last for about nine months. And, they’re off:
Israeli and Palestinian negotiators held their first peace talks in nearly three years on Monday in a U.S.-brokered effort that Secretary of State John Kerry hopes will end their conflict despite deep divisions.
Top aides to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas began the talks over an iftar dinner – the evening meal with which Muslims break their daily fast during Ramadan – hosted by Kerry at the State Department. …
“It’s very, very special to be here,” Kerry told his guests. “There isn’t very much to talk about at all,” he joked. …
The United States is seeking to broker an agreement on a “two-state solution” in which Israel would exist peacefully alongside a new Palestinian state created in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, lands occupied by the Israelis since a 1967 war.
The major issues to be resolved in the talks include borders, the future of Jewish settlements on the West Bank, the fate of Palestinian refugees and the status of Jerusalem.
So far, though, the United States seems to have the biggest stake in the talks’ progress; the State Department has asked both sides not to speak publicly about the negotiations nor their expectations, but Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas already took a hard line in a meeting with Egyptian officials on Monday:
Even as talks for a permanent Israeli-Palestinian peace got off to a cautious start in Washington Monday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told reporters in Egypt that no Israelis would be allowed to remain in a future Palestinian state.
“In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli — civilian or soldier — on our lands,” Abbas said following a meeting with interim Egyptian President Adly Mansour in Cairo. …
The Palestinian leader also reiterated that he wants a total freeze on settlement construction, and that he will not agree to any compromise solution that would halt projects in smaller outlying Jewish communities in the West Bank while allowing continued building in the larger settlement blocs.
Oof — that doesn’t bode particularly well, does it? Israel, for their part, has said in the past that they’d like to maintain a military presence in the West Bank at the border with Jordan in order to prevent any influx of weapons that might be used against them. I suppose we’ll shortly be seeing if and how the talks move forward.

President Phony

President Phony
With his poll numbers plummeting, President Barack Hussein Obama used some of the last days before he departs for another multimillion-dollar vacation to try to deflect attention away from the scandals that have defined his tenure in the Oval Office. According to the President: “With an endless distraction of political posturing and phony scandals and Lord knows what, Washington keeps taking its eye off the ball.”

While his Thursday remarks do not represent the first time a Democrat has tried to minimize the damage Obama’s mendacity has done to his credibility, they do beg a rather obvious question: To which scandal was he referring?

In trying to hide from the consequences of his failures, Obama issued a blanket “phony.” But last week, his press secretary, Jay Carney, used “phony” to describe the Obama Administration’s very real deployment of the Internal Revenue Service as a political weapon. That particular assault on liberty began in Cincinnati and has now stretched all the way to the White House Counsel’s office — all despite a series of paper-thin denials from the President and his accomplices. However, given that the scandal is actually currently growing, I’m not sure “phony” works in this scenario.

Back in May, at a joint conference with a visibly uncomfortable British Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama called the continuing probe into the Administration’s ever-changing narrative on the Benghazi, Libya, massacre and subsequent cover-up a “sideshow” borne of “political motivations.” I suppose the murder of four Americans was political — at least from the terrorists’ perspective. And there’s no doubt that the decision to throw Ambassador Susan Rice under the bus following her YouTube2012 tour was absolutely political. Throw in the fact that Obama allegedly missed the whole thing because he was busy grubbing for cash in Las Vegas, and I suppose you have a sideshow. But there is no doubt that Benghazi happened, so “phony” doesn’t really apply.

Attorney General Eric Holder has recently developed distaste for violence, as evidenced by pronouncements to the NAACP in the wake of the acquittal of assault victim George Zimmerman on murder charges. However, Holder was found in contempt of Congress for his repeated fabrications and stonewalling regarding the disastrous Operation Fast and Furious, a so-called “gun walking” program that cost the lives of two Federal agents and hundreds of Mexicans while arming narcoterrorists at our expense. Operation Fast and Furious and its subsequent fallout certainly meet the definition of “scandal,” but certainly do not meet the definition of “phony.”

The National Security Agency eavesdrops on Americans without cause. The Justice Department wiretaps, hacks and surveils journalists. Hell, your name was probably red-flagged for visiting Personalliberty.com. We live in an era during which the President of the United States has declared war on the Bill of Rights. Our resistance to his tyrannical aspirations is “politically motivated,” but it is hardly “phony.”

Peace talks begin with NO hope for peace
By: Diane Sori

Peace talks with those out to kill you…NO I don’t think so for these talks are NOT about peace…NOT by a long shot. They’re about Israel being set-up to appease Obama’s brethren and NOTHING else.

But as a good faith measure leading into yesterday’s start of a new round of Washington pushed ‘supposed’ peace talks with the so-called Palestinians, Israel agreed to release in stages 104 of the most vile of Palestinian prisoners (prisoners who targeted, attacked, and killed women, children, soldiers, and Palestinian informers in the 80′s) as the talks progress…that is if they do progress. But don’t for a minute think that Benjamin Netanyahu is conceding to Palestinian demands for BiBi knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it…and rest assured BiBi does NOT do anything that’s NOT in Israel’s best interest.

And above all know that a return to pre-67 borders will NOT happen (those old borders are now totally indefensible) nor will a divided Jerusalem ever be an option NO matter how much Barack HUSSEIN Obama or Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas wants it.

So while the so-called Palestinians (remember, there are NO such people as Palestinians…Yassir Arafat invented them in the 1960′s) want their state borders to be the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip (territories Israel captured in the ’67 war), and that Israel halt all settlement building in the West Bank claiming that the settlements deny them a viable and contiguous state, all Israel wants is security to live in peace.

Kind of says who the good guys are doesn’t it.

And I have an idea (one that I've thought about for years) that would assure peace for the tiny state of Israel who just wants to be left alone...tiny Israel surrounded by huge Arab states that find them a nuisance but who have an excess of land…and it’s rooted in common sense and oh so simple in concept…let those Arab states take their Palestinian brethren in.

Simple huh, after all the so-called Palestinians are NOTHING more than regular run of the mill Arabs just like all the other Arabs, and the surrounding Arab countries have plenty of land that’s unoccupied that could easily be turned over to them for their supposed oh so wanted homeland.

But the Arabs, especially those who want Israel to go bye-bye, do NOT want to even entertain such a common sense idea for then their true goal of wiping Israel off the map can’t be met, and that is the ultimate goal of NOT only Iran, Syria, and quite a few others, but also is the must be hushed up goal of Barack ‘I will stand with the muslims’ HUSSEIN Obama…and don’t let his phony photo-op words fool you into believing otherwise.

And believe me, Benjamin Netanyahu knows this very well…as much as he knows these new rounds of peace talks will fail just like all the previous talks failed for the so-called Palestinians do NOT want peace…they NEVER did and they NEVER will.

And adding to this supposition is the fact that there is a split and rivalry amongst the Palestinians politically wise…as Abbas and the Palestinian Authority is in control in the West Bank but islamic militant terror group Hamas (which seized Gaza from Abbas in 2007) is in control in Gaza. Hamas was NOT invited to the peace talks and rightly so as the word ‘peace’ is NOT part of their vocabulary for Hamas wants to establish an islamic state…an islamic caliphate…in all of historic Palestine, and that includes in what is now Israel.

Hamas is delusional for that has zero chance of ever happening.

But when you clear away all the pretty talk from Abbas, the Palestinian Authority really does NOT want peace either as they have had two decades of off and on talks with Israel to try and reach peace, and it has always been them who breaks any cease fire agreements reached. And anyway, what they really want, for they know they can NEVER beat Israel militarily wise, is to literally overrun Israel population wise…overrun Israel with their own so-called Palestinian people by claiming the ‘right of return’, creating demographic-by-numbers death for Israel.

Remember, the Palestinian refugees from the 1948 war along with their descendants (who now number in the millions), claim it’s their right to return to their original homes which they contend Israel ‘stole’ from them at Israel’s inception. But how wrong they are for the so-called Palestinians oh so ‘conveniently’ forget that when Israel was founded they were given a homeland of their own…it was called Transjordan but they refused to accept it, and in reality they really weren’t wanted there by the Jordanian people anyway…gee I wonder why (eyes rolling upward).

So, while both sides are meeting in Washington this week, I for one don’t see any real progress for peace being made as one side makes demands after demands,…expects concession after concession…while the other side only wants to be left alone to live their lives in peace in the land given to them by God…and that should be the deciding factor for the false god allah and his muslim minions have NO say over the dominion or word of God Almighty.
