The Media Built That for Obama
By: Brent Bozell / Townhall Daily
The numbers are political red alerts. The Post's polling in July showed 44 percent approved of how Obama was dealing with the economy, while 54 percent disapproved, and 41 strongly disapproved of the job he is doing on the economy, while only 21 percent strongly approved. Six in 10 said the economy was getting worse, not better, in a Gallup poll.
And now the unthinkable: His campaign is being outmuscled financially. Obama's team has spent more than $400 million already on his re-election effort, The New York Times estimates, and Team Obama is deeply worried he will be outspent by Mitt Romney and GOP-favoring super PACs in the fall.
So where can Obama find optimism? Cillizza cited the "narrative." "From the debate over when Romney totally cut ties to Bain Capital, to the (ongoing) debate over whether he should release more of his tax returns, to the negative press surrounding Romney's trip to Britain, Israel and Poland last week, the narrative of the campaign over the past month has worked heavily in Obama's favor."
Curiously, Cillizza omits the fact that the dominant narrative writers of the campaign are the national media, our "news" purveyors, and they are working overtime on Obama's behalf. Reporters pin down the candidate, slap his face and steal his lunch money, and then they go on camera and say it's sad the candidate had another bad day with his narrative. When crowds in Berlin hailed Barack Obama in 2008, the media were thrilled. When Romney traveled to Europe and Israel in 2012, 86 percent of the network news stories were negative, dwelling on supposed gaffes, "diplomatic dust-ups" and foreign "missteps."
In nearly every interview, reporters are pressing Romney about his tax returns, rolling out the red carpet for anyone who will demand he release them immediately. Can you imagine reporters in 2008 asking Obama repeatedly for his college grades or about his cocaine use or Rev. Jeremiah Wright in interview after interview?
Obama granted five interviews to "60 Minutes" before that election and was never asked about his record in Illinois or any of his scandalous associations, from Rev. Wright to Bill Ayers to Tony Rezko (now in prison), who helped him buy his house. Instead, Steve Kroft asked in his first interview, "Do you think the country is ready for a black president?" Kroft was still curious in his fifth interview, as they sat down in apparently racism-wracked Nevada: "I know, for a fact, that there are a lot of people out there, there are a lot of people right here in Elko, who won't vote for you because you're black. I mean, there's not much you can do. But how do you deal with it?"
Ultimately, Barack Obama will never be outspent -- if you were to calculate the price of the promotional airtime provided by the pro-Obama media, and in this cycle, their relentless Romney-bashing. While the networks manufacture gaffes overseas with Romney, real Obama gaffes -- "If you've got a business, you didn't build that" -- are called Republican smears, quotes out of "context."
In an online analysis, ABC claimed Republicans were basically lying: "Republicans have seized on the line 'you didn't build that' to falsely claim that Obama was speaking directly to business owners about their businesses." On CBS, morning anchor Charlie Rose complained about Obama being taken out of context, and the network's political analyst John Dickerson agreed that Obama needed to be defended: "Exactly, and what the president was saying, is it takes a village, essentially."
When Obama said, "Look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own," he knew whereof he spoke. Everything he's gained in politics has been granted to him by an adoring news media. Look no further than Steve Kroft beginning his first Obama interview in 2007 by seriously comparing Obama with Abraham Lincoln.
It's no surprise that many voters have a serious feeling of buyer's remorse. But our shameless media have no remorse at all for foisting this man on the country and no capacity for embarrassment that they put him on Mount Rushmore without an accomplishment to his name. It's too bad America can't vote to send the media packing. But they can and should turn off the nightly narratives lamely called a "newscast."
Newark TSA allows woman who tested positive for explosive residue to board flight to Cleveland
Close down the TSA! "Security breaches at Newark Airport"

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials say United Airlines checkpoint operations at Terminal C at Newark Liberty International Airport were shut down Sunday after TSA and local authorities tried to find a passenger that wasn't fully screened.
The Terminal C shutdown threw vacation plans and flight connections into chaos. Law enforcement sources told Fox 5 News there wasn't just one close call here – there were two and both had to do with potential bomb making materials.
The lines were long and frustration was high at Newark Airport after the incidents. The TSA says a woman who set off an alarm managed to get past a screening point and onto a flight to Cleveland without being checked for what caused the alarm.
The TSA says it notified the Port Authority Police after the incident. The Port Authority says every single passenger had to be re-screened.
Law enforcement sources told Fox 5 News what officials left out of their public statements – that the woman had tested positive for residue of possible explosive material on her hands, and slipped away from the TSA before she could be thoroughly screened.
About two hours earlier there was another incident that was detailed in a report obtained exclusively by Fox 5 News. Sources say a positive explosives alert it was generated by an oversized checked bag that set off an alarm for possible explosives material.
The bag went missing for about 45 minutes. The TSA says the bag was eventually found and the Essex County Bomb Squad determined it was not a threat....
Iran threatens U.S. over Syrian abductions by Syrian rebels
Islamic regime ready to have 'direct confrontation' immediately
Should any of the Iranians taken hostage by rebels in Syria be harmed, America should expect Iran’s intelligence agents to respond in kind, the Islamic regime has warned.
Forty-eight Iranians were seized Saturday in Damascus by rebels seeking to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime. Iran claims they are pilgrims, but Abdel Nasser Shemir, a rebel commander, in an interview with the news organization Al Arabiya, charged they were members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards whose confiscated documents proved as much.
Iran quickly blamed America, Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the kidnapping.
Hours after the abduction, Ali Larijani, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, said that, “America and certain countries of the region are responsible for these crimes, and they will receive the appropriate response at the right time.”
A media outlet called “The Youth Reporter’s Club,” which is run by the Revolutionary Guards intelligence unit, also blamed America for the abduction, stating that America, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are involved in the events in Syria and that Iran is ready to “change the proxy war into a direct confrontation on an immediate basis.”
The statement warned America that should any of the abducted Iranians be harmed, Iran will harm America and Americans.
Another statement that appeared on the site IranNuc.ir, which reflects the opinion of the regime, declared that Iran holds America directly responsible for the abductions. That message was given to the Swiss ambassador in Iran, who acts on behalf of America’s interest because the two countries have no diplomatic relations. The statement warned that, although America has not reacted to the claim, Iran is ready to immediately attack America.
This warning would mean that Iranian terror cells, along with the terrorist organization Hezbollah, could attack America’s interests and take Americans hostage. Such a terrorist threat recalls the Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon, the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia and the abduction, torture and murder of the CIA station chief in Beirut, William Buckley, in 1985. Dozens of Americans and Europeans were systematically taken hostage between 1982 and 1992.
The kidnapping of the 48 Iranians occurred as the Assad regime claimed it was in full control of Damascus, despite heavy fighting in the capital.
Iranian leaders have continuously warned against “foreign intervention” in Syria.
Speaker Larijani accused America of providing military support to the rebels. “The fire that has been ignited in Syria will take fearful (Israelis) with it,” Larijani said Sunday, as quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency.
Days ago, Iran dispatched Saeed Jalili, the senior aide to the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to Damascus, where he held meetings with Syria’s top officials, including Assad. Jalili discussed the rebellion in Syria and the need for a quick release of the abducted Iranians, and said Syria was an essential part of an “axis of resistance” to Israel and the West.
Iran has formed a joint war room with Syria and Hezbollah and has warned that any outside aggression against Syria would be met with a heavy missile response from the three, with Israel facing the brunt of it.
As reported recently, according to a source within the Revolutionary Guards intelligence unit, Iran is preparing to attack Saudi Arabia should Assad’s regime be in danger of falling to the rebels.
“Dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles have been programmed to hit Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, as wells as Qatar,” the source added.
Obama Regime Helps To Free Murderer Of 5 Marines

In January of 2007, a dozen or more terrorists dressed in U.S. uniforms opened fire on a military camp in Karbala, just south of Baghdad. One soldier died at the scene; and four others were kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by the terrorists. The mastermind of this complex and well-planned attack was Ali Mussa Daqduq, a Lebanese national taken by U.S. forces in Basra just 2 months after the operation.
For 5 years, Daqduq was held at Camp Cropper, a US military detention facility in Baghdad. Yet neither George Bush nor Barack Obama saw fit to try the terrorist killer for his crimes.
For the criminal prosecution of Daqduq, whether in a civil or military proceeding, was not permitted under the terms of the Authorization for the Use of Military Force, a resolution passed by Congress and signed by the president on Sept 14, 2001. According to that resolution, in order to be legally prosecuted, an accused terrorist must be a member of either al Qaeda or the Taliban, one of the groups known to have attacked the US on 9/11. And Daqduq apparently belonged to neither.
Moreover, according to an agreement between the US and Iraq signed by George Bush, all American-held prisoners were to be turned over to the Iraqi government by the end of 2011. Had the US ignored that agreement, Obama Administration officials claimed it would have “…fractured the new and ‘enduring’ relationship with Iraq that President Barack Obama has sought to build.”
So Daqduq was released to Iraqi officials in December of last year. And they in turn released him! For according to his lawyer “no document was provided [by the US to the Iraqis] that indicate[d] the guilt of Daqduq, and all of what was shown to the court were copies and not originals. There was no testimony and the charges had no foundation.” In short, “the Central Criminal Court of Iraq issued a ruling to release Ali Daqduq… because of a lack of evidence.”
According to the US Military, “…it could not share evidence related to Daqduq because it included sensitive intelligence.” Of course, once in Iraqi hands, the Lebanese terrorist would quite possibly not have been prosecuted anyway. But the Obama Administration make CERTAIN of it with its refusal to release evidence of Daqduq’s guilt to the Iraqi court.
Did Obama fear a political backlash for refusing to prosecute Daqduq as details of his crimes made their way to the American public? Or did Obama refuse to provide evidence of Daqduq’s guilt in order to protect the “credibility” of the Iraqi court and the Regime’s relationship with the nation of Iraq and its new leaders?
Whatever the reason, 2 United States presidents have betrayed the families of 5 U.S. Marines by refusing to prosecute the terrorist responsible for their deaths.
Laws exist today that allow a president to arrest and imprison American citizens while affording them no access to their constitutionally protected rights of habeas corpus and trial. NO evidence of guilt need be presented, and the accused has no right to an attorney or defense. The suspicions of the president alone are sufficient to hold an American in custody until “the end of hostilities.” Yet a known Muslim terrorist and killer will avoid all responsibility for his crimes.
Will Mitt Romney and congressional Republicans make an issue of this disgraceful and cowardly behavior on the part of the White House? Or must members of the US military learn to accept torture and death as unfortunate, occasional consequences of the political necessities of the day?!
Op-ed:
And the games continue...and I don’t mean the Olympics
By: Diane Sori
Prince Harry is at it again as he continues his bloviating rants
that Mitt Romney went 10 years without paying taxes...which, by the way, is an
out and out lie.

While Harry Reid continues with his unsubstantiated claim, leading
Republicans are claiming, and rightly so, that this attack against Mitt Romney is
nothing but a coordinated attack by the Obama campaign, with David Axelrod, the
Obama Senior Campaign Coordinator, orchestrating it all.
But no one expects Obama himself to have any decency and call
his people off for when you have nothing of substance to fight with you just
make things up, which is what Prince Harry has done probably at Obama's beckoning. And make no mistake, Obama is very happy with
Reid’s attack, because it takes people’s minds off the flailing economy, rising
gas prices, rising grocery prices, and the fact that there still are NO jobs to
be had, contrary to what Obama says.
And most know that Harry Reid hates Mitt Romney,
and those like him, simply because they're rich, and that hatred of the rich that Reid unabashedly wears on his
sleeve, stems back to his lower middle class upbringing. But now as a semi-rich man himself, Reid
really needs to let the past go but then again Democrats of his ilk are known for feeding
into the hatred of the rich and expounding class warfare, because they have nothing to fight with
except the miserable record of the ‘anointed one.’
And that isn’t working out too well for them now is it.
And to make all this worse...isn’t it a happy perchance that
Reid does all this from the safety of the Senate floor knowing he cannot be
charged with defamation or slander as he has made himself exempt from such
charges by using the Senate as his cover.
No doubt Prince Harry has taken lessons on how to fabricate
a story and cover his butt from the master...‘Slick Willy’ himself.
But none of that matters because Prince Harry continues to deny requests
that he provide evidence of his claim, saying instead it’s up to Romney to disprove the allegation. No more innocent until proven guilty, now in the bizzaro world of the Democrats its guilty until you prove yourself innocent.
Thankfully, some in Romney’s camp are speaking out telling
Harry Reid exactly what they think of him as in this statement by Republican
National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, "I'm not going to respond to a
dirty liar who hasn't filed a single page of tax returns himself (and)
complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz-Carlton here down the
street" ..."And the fact that we're going to spend any time talking
about it is ridiculous."
So this continues to play out in the media as Harry Reid
still won’t say where he got this so-called information from, citing a ‘confidential
source’ which we all know means that this is nothing but a made-up allegation
to try and discredit the front runner. And
rest assured that Romney is indeed the front runner, as major pollsters have
admitted that they poll more Democrats than Republicans, and yet even with
that, Romney is between 3 and 4 points ahead of Obama most of the time.
Obama is in trouble and he knows it so just how low will he sink to cover for
the miserable record of his miserable administration...only time will tell but here’s
a hint...today a new ad was released by the Obama campaign using the testimony
of a man who lost his wife to cancer, which he blames on Romney, because when he worked at a steel plant
owned by Bain he was let go when the plant closed and lost his health insurance. So he’s blaming his wife’s death on Mitt Romney,
saying Romney doesn’t care that his wife died.
But what the ad is NOT saying, I repeat NOT saying, is that the man’s
wife didn’t get cancer and die until SIX YEARS AFTER the
plant closed, and also that his wife had her own health insurance through her job!
So how low will Obama go...I think with this ad we now know the answer to
that one. As for Harry Reid, only Barack Hussein Obama himself sinks lower than he does.
As always...November 6th can’t come fast enough!
