“Level it,” so said President Donald J. Trump...a brilliant move that took everyone by surprise during a joint press conference held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 4th. And why do I say brilliant...because with Trump adding the words that the U.S. will “take over' the Gaza Strip, and “rebuild it to stabilize Middle East”...we might finally be bearing witness not to seemingly unending war but to the birth of lasting peace.
And when Trump stated that he envisions a 'long-term ownership position” of the Gaza Strip, Netanyahu stood smiling by his side for even he knows that Israel alone cannot fully stabilize the region let alone the entirety of the Middle East based solely upon Israel's tangible war victories. One tiny country cannot logistically win against the multitudes that comprise the harbingers of war that surround her, but with the U.S. standing strong and united by Israel's side, what was the here and now reality of war...a war not of Israel's doing...could instead usher in a new beginning not just for Israel but for the so-called Palestinian people as well...a people whose multitudes still sadly see their children as but terrorists in waiting.
“Israel's victory will be America's victory, We will not only win the war working together, we will win the peace. With your leadership, Mr. President, and our partnership, I believe that we will forge a brilliant future for our region and bring our great alliance to even greater heights.” - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's words of truth spoken during the above stated press conference.
Such wise and truthful words spoken by the one leader who understands better than most not only what really is at stake here, but who are and who are not on the side of the Jewish State. On the side of Israel, of course, is the United States, but Europe...for the most part...is not, and it's all courtesy of their poorly veiled anti-Semetic leaders who keep throwing money into Gaza with no tangible nor positive returns seen or really expected. And why so... because their money usually does end up in the pockets of Hamas...after Iran takes what I believe is their cut...while Israel is again forced to pay the price in both blood and treasure. The words “Never Again”...words that were once seemingly etched in stone...now seem to be words devoid of all meaning for those who secretly or even outwardly long for Israel and the Jewish people's demise. So this leaves President Trump, to do what he does best, that is shake up what is the still lumbering status quo. And he does this while a number of European leaders have done little to nothing but help thugs, thieves, and terrorists run the nightmare that has become the Gaza “reality show”...a show whose own reality was sealed on October 7th, and with it any talk of a two-state solution which, by the way, has been rejected by Palestinian leaders five times over the years or should I say past decades. And besides, said two-state solution...especially when one state's goal is to wipe the other state off the face of the map...is itself a recipe for disaster...a recipe for more war, more killing, and more suffering since any land occupied by the Hamas supporting Palestinians will be but yet another base from which to attack Israel from...that's been their goal all along so why should it change now.And so the time for talk is over what with neither Israeli nor certain Palestinian populations viewing the two-state scenario as a viable option anymore for it's lost the broad international based support it once had even if certain world leaders refuse to accept that as fact. And that includes Saudi Arabia's leaders who continue to insist that a Palestinian state has to be part of any deal establishing diplomatic relations with Israel,..guess we'll now have to wait to see how long that misplaced insistence lasts.
Even so, it has become apparent that different actions and different scenarios are what's needed especially with the (rightful) destruction in Gaza being so extensive that it's beyond repair or even reconstruction. And it's here where, I believe, Trump's proposed plan regarding both “resettlement” and “leveling it”...meaning what little is left of Gaza...“and then rebuilding it” is the only practical scenario that will work no matter what naysayers, like German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, have to say...and who, by the way, is no Trump fan. “A displacement (another way of saying “resettlement”) of the Palestinian civilian population from Gaza (whether voluntary or not) would not just be unacceptable and against international law, but would also lead to new suffering and new hatred.” were Baerbock's words spoken to which she added that there must not be a solution “over the heads of the Palestinians,” and that “a negotiated two-state solution remains the only one,” as in an option for peace. And to Baerbock I first say, “displacement” is not legally considered against “international law” nor is it explicitly mandated as a right. So this means that while sovereign nations are not legally obligated to resettle refugees...the best way to now describe what the Palestinians actually are...said nations can still voluntarily choose to do so as a “discretionary act” based upon what is known as “humanitarian principles.” And second, I do wonder just how many Palestinian refugees Germany will actually be willing to take in...zero would be my guess.
And while the prime ministers of France, Spain, and Great Britain echoed Baerbock's “two-state” sentiments...something not unexpected from those afraid of their own shadows...but French Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Christophe Lemoine was, in my opinion, the worst, Why so...because he not only echoed Baerbock's ramblings about Trump's proposal being “a serious violation of international law”...which it is not...but he had the audacity to say that the proposal is “an attack on the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians.” Seems this man chooses to ignore the Palestinian people's support of Hamas' October 7th attack...an attack no Gaza Palestinian has yet to condemn...if one does not condemn one condones.
But, thankfully, a few of Europe's leaders do understand what Trump is trying to accomplish. And one of them is Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó who now sees Trump's Gaza proposal as being “innovative,” and likens it to what he deems to be a “paradigm-shifting move,” not unlike the “Abraham Accords.” of which he stated, “there was hardly anyone in the world who would have believed in the success in those agreements, right? And at the end of the day he, (meaning Trump) made it, and brought a totally new dimension to the life of the Middle East,” Sziijarto truly understands that the “Abraham Accords” have not only opened up dialogues between once “unfriendly nations,” but that thanks to said accords we have seen important new alliances being forged between those who were once deemed to be enemies.Simply, Sziijarto knows...as do many of us...that President Trump started the peace process with the “Abraham Accords,” let him finish that process with his Gaza proposal.
So how can that be done? Once Israel puts the final long awaited nail into Hamas' coffin, Trump should strongly insist that Jordan's King Abdullah take back into Jordan the Palestinians, and their now offspring, that his father King Hussein expelled over a half century ago. And why did Hussein do this...because he knew first hand that the Palestinians were trouble. And said trouble started when a 1949 amendment to the British Mandate's 1928 “Nationality Law” gave Jordanian “citizenship” to the region's then 420,000 local Palestinians, 280,000 Palestinian West Bank refugees, and 70,000 Palestinian East Bank refugees...as in almost 3/4 of a million people. And many of these folks morphed into or became sympathizers of the PLO and/or Hamas and who, as per Hussein, become not only too powerful a political force within Jordan, but also posed a direct threat to his authority, thus leading to many of them being expelled.
And while now, thanks to President Trump's Gaza proposal...or fearing Trump's Israeli hostage turnover deadline...Abdullah stated that he will take into Jordan 2,000 children displaced by the war...2,000 out of almost two million Palestinians displaced by the war. But in today's time frame I see it this way, as in with Jordan already having a large Palestinian population, what's a few more Palestinians added into Jordan's mix, after all they're genetically related anyway.
But if Jordan refuses to take back the sum of their own people back into the fold they should be “resettled” either in any of the other Arab counties that have thousands of acres of unoccupied, unused lands; or send them to the bleeding heart liberal European countries...countries who while rallying for the Palestinian cause do nothing of substance for the Palestinian people themselves.
And to the vile Hamas official who stated that, “Trump's intention is to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip outside it and that the United States' must take control over the Strip by force is a crime against humanity,” I say no words can ever describe what I feel about him or his people after not only seeing Hamas' savage atrocities committed on October 7th,* but seeing the Palestinians in Gaza actually cheering them on. And what most folks do forget is that the Palestinians already had a state in Gaza and threw away their chance for peace when they themselves voted Hamas in to be Gaza's new governing body.Simply,
President Trump is right...Gaza must be leveled, rebuilt, and
eventually become a U.S. territory...a territory open to anyone who
wants to live there in peace. And Prime Minister Netanyahu is also
right when he states that Trump has an idea that “could change
history, as it's the first original idea that has been raised in
years.” And might I add that if said plan...a plan truly
outside the proverbial box...is implemented only then would the
Palestinian people's mindset even start to be reset to either see
them entering the 21st century of civilized men or see their
collective still 6th century mindset being their own ultimate demise. Case closed. ______________________________________________________________
