Op-ed:
Republic v.
Democracy...America v. Mob Rule
By: Diane Sori /
The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots on American Political Radio
- Benjamin Franklin after the Continental Convention when asked if we are a republic or a monarchy
The Greek historian Polybius wrote that
democracy descends into mob rule...“ochlocracy” he called
it. And Polybius' words were as right then as they are right now for
we can see mob rule...two more words added to the Democrats ever
growing list of politically incorrect words we dare not
say...becoming commonplace in today's America as Democrats and their
misguided ilk take to the streets in protest, as if on cue, over some self-perceived indignation while they relish in trampling
on other folks “inalienable
rights.”

Total
political dysfunction and major meltdown by the Democrats to the nth
degree...a true political circus of the absurd...replete with at
times violent protests by those who still cannot accept that Hillary
Clinton did not become Barack HUSSEIN Obama's third term in office.
And these protests more times than not see protesters bused-in when
and where they are needed...professional protesters if you will...protesters
bought and paid for by George Soros and his ilk whose job it is to
incite violence by working up via intimidation what was peaceful protesters into an angry mob and
to do so in the name of democracy...their twisted version of democracy that
is.
In
fact, some of our Founders and Framers were truly leery of democracy
for they feared that overt and dedicated political passions could
work the public up into such a frenzy that in a very short period of
time it could become paramount to mob rule and abject
tyranny. “Democracy never lasts long,” wrote
America's second President John Adams in a December 1814 letter to
Virginia state legislature member John Taylor. “It soon wastes,
exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that
did not commit suicide,” were
Adams' words added for he blamed democracies...which he felt
were no different than monarchies...for bloodshed and war.
Alexander
Hamilton, one of the authors of the Federalist Papers,
wrote, "We are
now forming a Republican form of government. Real liberty is not
found in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments. If
we incline too much to democracy we shall soon shoot into a monarchy,
or some other form of a dictatorship.”
In fact, in the last letter he ever penned Hamilton actually warned
that "our
real disease is Democracy.” And
James Madison, our nation's fourth president and the "father of the Constitution" wrote in the Federalist Paper No. 10 that, “Pure democracies
have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever
been incompatible with personal security or the rights of property;
and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been
violent in their deaths.”
In
other words, our Founders and Framers were leery of both the concept
of democracy itself as well as its ever being the form of government
our new nation was to take. And leery they were to such a degree that
they placed into the Constitution itself Article IV, Section 4
which states, "The United States shall guarantee to every
State in this Union a Republican Form of Government.” “Republican”
as in “republic”
not in the Republican party in
case the question arises...which I'm sure some liberal sorts will
raise in their effort to remove from governance the very document
from which our nation was born.
“To peacefully assemble” in
no way means the now mob tactics being used by the left that either
borders on or actually is violence...tactics that not only
help to stir the pot of political discontent via bullying,
threatening words, and hate...but are tactics that truly do border on
both the traitorous and the criminal. How so? Calling for the
“removal” of our duly elected president and now Supreme
Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh as well, and doing so while gathered in
protest while screaming the words "by any means possible”
surely does not meet the Constitution's nor the legal definition of
“peaceful assembly” for
words such as these are a precursor to violence...mob violence.
And
while mob violence is sadly indeed a part of “pure
democracy,” and while it's
been said that “One man's mob is another man's
democracy,” neither mobs nor
“pure democracy”
works well within the framework of a republic. And maybe to some it's
simply a case of word semantics but I don't think so for sometimes in
order to drive home both a specific point and a fundamental political
difference it actually involves labeling people, things, and actions for who and what
they truly are.
And in
the case of what's happening in today's America as both actual mobs
and mob mentality continue to overtake civility and decorum, and doing
so all in the name of what the Democrats refer to as democracy, maybe
President Trump needs to put
a clear and precise label on who these violent Democrats...now
sometimes called progressives or socialists...really are...as well as
on those that dare to even hint and/or suggest that violence and intimidation be used against the rest of us.
And after this faction of today's Democrat party is rightfully named maybe then President Trump can retweet out Lindsey Graham's famous words used during the Democrat's witch hunt of Brett Kavanaugh...rightful words to the effect that we should never let these people obtain power. And if apathy does by some chance take hold as the midterm election draws near...apathy on our side of the aisle that is...and we don't get out the vote then we must seriously consider the possibility of a future where the most powerful socialist/communist state in the world is not Russia or China, but is these United States...for this is the wanted future envisioned by the very radicals that have taken over the Democrat Party and it's a sad future indeed.
And it seems, at least on the surface, that this is where we are headed for the republic that we are has been replaced in Democrats minds by a democracy that we are not. And when mob mentality dictates how the political game is to be played, and where every political setback is deemed by the Democrats as a criminal act done by we on the other side of the political aisle...the Republican and Conservative side...along with their believing that any who dare not embrace their liberal mindset is but a foreboding of some catastrophic event that will signal the end of the very democracy that we are not, then you just know we as a country are once again in for some troubling times.
Donald Trump to the rescue as together we Republicans and Conservatives have new reasons to unite against those who don't even know who we are as we work together to “Make America...to help make our republic...Great Again.”

* A federal republic is a federation of states with a republican (federalism) form of central government. It differs from a unitary state in that in a federal republic the authorities of the state governments cannot be taken back by the central (federal) government. The United States is technically a federal republic although we are also referred to as a Constitutional republic as Constitutional republics usually have a separation of powers, which we do.
