The three remaining Democratic presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley, took part in the second debate of the 2016 election cycle on CBS Saturday night. Before diving into the issues, the participants, moderators and audience members acknowledged the victims in Paris by holding a moment of silence.

Based on the first question, it was clear CBS moderator John Dickerson was not going to make it a breezy night for Mrs. Clinton. Just hours before the terror carnage in Paris took 129 lives, President Obama declared ISIS had been “contained.” Do you believe the Obama administration has understated the threat of ISIS? Dickinson pointedly asked Clinton.

Clinton began by avoiding the question, speaking in general about the threat of ISIS.

“It cannot be contained,” Clinton said. “It must be defeated.”

If we summon our leadership resources, she continued - be it our diplomacy, sharing of intelligence and more, than we can bring people together.

Not content with that ambivalent answer, Dickerson pushed for a more direct response in regards to the White House’s failed foreign policy.

Just released: full text of Islamic State statement on “Blessed Onslaught in Paris against the Crusader Nation of France”

Note that the quotations at the beginning and the end of the statement are from the Qur’an (59:2 and 63:8). Note also that the entire document couches the Paris massacres in the framework of a supposed war by France and its allies against Islam and Muslims. Yet Western analysts and the mainstream media, in studying and discussing this statement, will first discount Islam as having anything to do with the motive for the attack, and try to read into this statement other meanings.

One of the Paris Jihadis is a French Citizen, Others from Germany, Syria, Egypt

Pamela Geller / Atlas Shrugs

It is being reported that the first jihadi identified in the Paris jihad act of war is a French national in his early twenties. He was from a suburb south of Paris. Here again we have a French-born Muslim who engaged in a savage act of war against the country of his birth. Two passports are reported to have been recovered from the eight assailants — one from Syria and the other from Egypt.

A 51-year-old German Muslim, arrested last week en route to Paris with firearms, grenades and explosives, is believed to have ties to attacks in Paris according to Bavarian authorities.

And so once again I will repeat the following for the umpteeth time. There is only one common thread between all of these men. Islamic piety.

It has been shown time...
