Poll: Majority of Americans Say 'Media Too Critical' of Trump

A majority of Americans believe the "media has been too critical" in their coverage of President Donald Trump, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll published Sunday.

The poll revealed:

• 51 percent: Media has been too critical.
• 41 percent: Mostly fair and objective.
• 6 percent: Media has not been critical enough.
• 2 percent: Not sure.

The poll also revealed that 53 percent of Americans believe the media has exaggerated the problems in the Trump administration. That included 79 percent of those who consider Fox News as their primary news source, and even 40 percent of those who consider the liberal MSNBC their primary news source.

Th reporting of the poll on NBC News showed some measure of bias as the NBC News headline read: "Trump’s Job Approval Stands at Just 44 Percent as Partisan Splits Reign."

But, deeper in the survey's results, The Hill found a majority of support for Trump in his ongoing campaign against critical media, which he has attacked various times as "fake news."

NBC News' story did not reference the majority believing the media has been too critical. The Wall Street Journal report Sunday, meanwhile, led with the angle of media being too critical.

Muslim Reform Group Reached Out to 3,000 US Mosques, Got Only 40 Responses

This is not new. My colleague and President of  Former Muslims United civil rights group, Nonie Darwish, reached to Muslim leaders in 2009 and 2012. We asked them to repudiate the Shariah legal doctrine that requires the punishment – and in most cases, the execution – of former Muslims who choose to exercise their rights to religious freedom and freedom of speech.

The “Muslim Pledge for Religious Freedom and Safety from Harm for Former Muslims” – “The Freedom Pledge” – was sent out to Muslim leaders nationwide, on a rolling basis. A list of the recipients is posted and updated regularly, with the date the letter was sent.

The first set of letters was received by Muslim leaders on September 25, 2009, with a second set sent October 20, 2009.  Over 125 letters were sent to Muslim leaders nationwide in 2009.  Click here to view the list of 2009 recipients.

How many leaders responded? Two. To date, only two Muslims have signed the pledge: Dr. Zuhdi Jasser of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and Dr. Ali Alyami of the Center for Democracy & Human Rights in Saudi Arabia. Prominent Muslim leaders lauded as “moderates” such as Muslim Brotherhood-tied Dalia Mogahed have been criticized for not showing support for the pledge.

Alan Dershowitz: Why I Will Leave Democratic Party If Keith Ellison Is Elected DNC Chairman

Tomorrow the Democratic National Committee (DNC) will have to choose the direction of the Democratic Party, as well as its likely composition. It will be among the most important choices the DNC has ever had to make.

There has been powerful push from the hard-left of the Democratic Party, led by senator Bernie Sanders, to elect Keith Ellison chairman. If he is elected, I will quit the party after 60 years of loyal association and voting.

I will become an independent, continuing to vote for the best candidates, most of whom, I assume, will still be Democrats.

But I will not contribute to the DNC or support it as an institution. My loyalty to my country and my principles and my heritage exceeds any loyalty to my party. I will urge other like-minded people – centrist liberals – to follow my lead and quit the Democratic Party if Ellison is elected chairman. We will not be leaving the Democratic Party we have long supported. The Democratic Party will be leaving us!

CNN & others blocked from White House media briefing

CNN and other news outlets were blocked Friday from an off-camera White House press briefing, raising alarm among media organizations and First Amendment watchdogs.

The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico and BuzzFeed were also excluded from the meeting, which is known as a gaggle and is less formal than the televised Q-and-A session in the White House briefing room. The gaggle was held by White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
