U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs had initially stepped in on March 13, just four days before the termination was supposed to become effective, and temporarily froze the administration's action.

“After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated — pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,” Trump said during a Long Island rally for Republican candidates in the gubernatorial and congressional elections.
Trump acknowledged the economic effects of the nearly six-month conflict, but argued that ensuring Iran could not build a nuclear weapon was worth paying “a tiny little bit more for your gasoline.”
“When you have to pay a little bit more, you’re at $4. It’s okay,” he said. “I’ll never apologize. I did the right thing.”
