Rubio told a bipartisan delegation at the Halifax International Security Forum in Canada Saturday afternoon that the 28-point blueprint supposedly crafted to end the war is actually a Russian proposal, not a US initiative, according to South Dakota GOP Sen. Mike Rounds.

“He made it very clear to us that we are the recipients of a proposal that was delivered to one of our representatives,” Rounds said, Politico reported.

“It is not our recommendation. It is not our peace plan. It is a proposal that was received, and as an intermediary, we have made arrangements to share it — and we did not release it. It was leaked.”

Rounds, however, said the Trump administration wants to “utilize it as a starting point,” adding that the plan “looked more like it was written in Russian to begin with,” the Associated Press reported.

Netanyahu stresses Israel 'responsible for its own security' in Gaza amid ceasefire crisis
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the cabinet to discuss the ongoing military actions in Lebanon and in Gaza. He denied that Israel needed any approval but its own for defense.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly rejected the idea that Israel requires approval for military action in his statement to the Security Cabinet on Sunday.

"All the talk that 'we must receive approvals for this' from one source or another is simply an absolute lie," Netanyahu said.

"We operate independently of anyone. Immediate actions to thwart attacks are taken by the IDF automatically. As for the responses, that goes through the Defense Minister and eventually reaches me, and we decide independently of any factor, and that is how it should be."

"Israel is responsible for its own security," he added.

Addressing the strikes in Lebanon, Netanyahu emphasized the IDF's commitment to "do everything necessary to prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing its threat capability against us." Read more here
