Massachusetts Governor Activates National Guard to Help Remove Illegal Immigrants From Martha’s Vineyard                                                                                                                   Leah Barkoukis – Townhall Tipsheet

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced Friday his administration plans to activate the National Guard to assist its efforts relocating the 50 illegal immigrants who arrived on Martha’s Vineyard this week, which prompted panic among the wealthy progressive elites who live there.

The governor’s office said up to 125 members of the Massachusetts National Guard will take part in the effort to transport the migrants to a new shelter at Joint Base Cape Cod, while the commonwealth’s emergency management agency works with state and local officials on setting up services for them.

“Shortly after the arrival of these individuals, Martha’s Vineyard residents joined with local and state officials to create temporary shelter and provide necessities in a moment of urgent need,” the statement said. “However, the island communities are not equipped to provide sustainable accommodation, and state officials developed a plan to deliver a comprehensive humanitarian response.” Read more here.

Martha's Vineyard Laughably Declares 'Humanitarian Crisis' Over 50 Illegal Immigrants
Spencer Brown / Townhall Tipsheet

After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered roughly 50 illegal immigrants to swanky Martha's Vineyard — much to the dismay of liberals — the island community that's home to the Obamas and a Who's Who of other elites has declared the situation to be a crisis.

While Democrats insist that there's no border crisis — despite a record number of got-aways, migrant deaths, and border apprehensions — their friends on Martha's Vineyard have decided 50 illegal immigrants are just too much to handle, despite being a proclaimed sanctuary.

When the "Visit Martha's Vineyard" tweeted out "an update on current humanitarian crisis" they say is occurring on the island, it was quickly met with mockery.

Here's what "VisitMV" had to say: Read more and see tweets and videos here.

Ohio Teachers Are Now Allowed To Have Guns in Their Classrooms
Sarah Arnold / Townhall Tipsheet

As many Democrat states call to get rid of guns, Republicans are fighting to keep the Second Amendment alive and protected.

This week a new law went into effect in Ohio allowing teachers, principals and school staff to carry firearms while in the classroom.

House bill 99 will require only 24 hours of training, down from the previous 700 hours, followed by 8 annual hours of re-qualification training. School staff will also be required to undergo yearly criminal background checks.

“We have a lot of requests from schools to allow this to be done,” Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) said adding, "to continue to help our public and private schools get the tools they need to protect our children. ... We have an obligation to do everything we can every single day to try and protect our kids."

The training will also include how to stop an active shooter, de-escalation techniques, and first aid care. Read more and see tweet here.

Rail strike averted, tentative agreement reached
A strike deadline of Friday morning had been fast approaching that would disrupt a number of industries still struggling from the COVID-19 pandemic

FOX Business host Larry Kudlow joins 'The Evening Edit' to discuss a possible rail strike and President Biden touting the Inflation Reduction Act.

With the deadline to avert a freight railroad strike by Friday morning approaching fast, a tentative agreement has been reached according to the Labor Department.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh issued this tweet. "Following more than 20 consecutive hours of negotiations, the rail companies and union negotiators came to a tentative agreement that balances the needs of workers, businesses, and our nation’s economy."

During marathon negotiations early Thursday, morning, talks were taking place with three remaining unions. Late Wednesday night, of the 12 unions involved, one rejected a tentative deal,,but agreed to delay a strike as talks with other unions continue.

Two hade ratified agreements and three others remained at the bargaining table just days ahead of a strike deadline, threatening to intensify snarls in the nation's supply chain that have contributed to rising prices. Read more, see tweets and video here,

Rubio Labeled 'Transphobic' for Telling the Truth About Pregnancy
Leah Barkoukis / Townhall Tipsheet

Sen. Marco Rubio provoked the left on Monday by stating a biological truth about pregnancy.

Delivering remarks at the National Conservatism Conference in Miami, Florida, Rubio said as far as he knows, “every single human being that’s ever been born was born of a biological woman.”

The notion that “men can get pregnant” is propagated by not only woke commentators and professors, Rubio pointed out, but is also being embraced by the likes of the Centers for Disease Control, among others, who have changed their terminology to “pregnant people.”

Considering Rubio’s talk was titled, “The Loss of Common Sense: The New Divide in American Politics,” the criticism he received only proved his point.

Left-leaning The Recount criticized the Florida Republican’s “transphobic attack on the CDC” and declared his comments “factually inaccurate.” Read more, see tweet and video here.
