DeSantis spox return fire after ‘mainstream media’ hit piece: ‘Conservatives have to fight back’
New media outlet Semafor complained, 'Ron DeSantis is building his own alternative conservative media ecosystem in Florida'

Semafor, a new media outlet founded by Ben Smith and Justin Smith, is facing major blowback for its reporting on Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis's relationship with the media.

In a Sunday article titled, "Ron DeSantis is building his own media," Semafor media reporter Max Tani detailed the governor's penchant for primarily interviewing with conservative media outlets, including two new Florida publications, framing the governor's media habits as an attempt to receive easy interviews and friendly publicity.

As Tani put it on Twitter, "Ron DeSantis is building his own alternative conservative media ecosystem in Florida," while Semafor's official Twitter account said, "The Florida governor has been freezing out the mainstream press and giving interviews to outlets backed by GOP donors."

Members of the governor's team pushed back against Semafor's claims and criticized liberal media for not giving Republicans a...Read more, see tweets and video here.

Here’s What Has Musk Concerned After Release of Twitter Files
Leah Barkoukis / Townhall Tipsheet

Twitter chief Elon Musk opened up on Saturday about the threats he’s receiving amid the release of the Twitter Files—the internal documents that show how the company responded to the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020.

As Townhall detailed, internal emails reveal how employees at the social media giant “handled” requests from the Biden Team and DNC to take content off the site and control the information Americans knew about the laptop from hell.  As Musk commented, “Twitter was acting like an arm of the Democratic National Committee, it was absurd.”

Speaking during a two-hour Q&A chat on Twitter Spaces, Musk spoke about the risk of being assassinated, saying he wouldn’t be “doing any open-air car parades, let me put it that way.”

“Frankly the risk of something bad happening to me, or even literally…Read more here.

Oil industry exec rips Biden's 'willy-nilly' energy policy, warns of another 'major' crisis in next few weeks
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve continues to be inappropriately 'politicized,' Sommers argues

As the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) falls to "dangerously low" levels, American Petroleum Institute president and CEO Mike Sommers issued a warning to the Biden administration that a negligent plan to restore it could trigger another economically painful oil crisis.

"The Strategic Petroleum Reserve, unfortunately, has become the strategic political reserve. And we have grave concerns about how it has been so politicized. This is for emergency purposes, not to lower gasoline prices during a time during a political season," Sommers said Friday on "Mornings with Maria." "But I think doing this willy-nilly and doing it in a way that that doesn't make sense for the market we're in, we could be dealing with another major oil crisis here in the next few weeks."

"We're also real concerned, Maria, about how low it has gone. Lowest level since 1984, not necessarily because of market conditions, but because of political concerns," Sommers continued. Read more and see videos here.

Lawmakers Are Paving the Way for a Potential 2024 DeSantis Run
Sarah Arnold / Townhall Tipsheet

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) has a lot on his plate. Not only is he busy fighting the Left’s radical agenda, he also may be gearing up for a potential 2024 presidential run. On top of that, the Florida governor is releasing a book that comes out next year.

Titled “The Courage to Be Free: Florida's Blueprint for America's Revival,” DeSantis’ book will highlight his work as governor and he came to be a true, courageous political figure.

“In 'The Courage to Be Free,' Governor Ron DeSantis chronicles the most consequential decisions of his life and public service, including turning the Sunshine State into the promised land for millions of Americans," the press release states. "He will also share details about his marriage to Casey, their three children, and Casey’s battle with cancer. This book will center on critical issues that brought him to the center of the debate over the future of our country. He shares his thinking from when he was fighting back against COVID mandates and restrictions, critical race theory, woke...Read more here.
