DOUBLING DOWN: Joe Biden Peddles Administration's Talking Points on Not Seeing a Recession

On Monday afternoon, President Joe Biden took questions from the press, including from Fox News' Peter Doocy, in pointing out that GDP numbers will be coming in on Thursday, asked "how worried should Americans be that we could be in a recession." With a smile on his face as Doocy asked his question, Biden doubled down on his administration's talking points by claiming he doesn't think we will be in a recession.

"We're not gonna be in a recession in my way," Biden claimed. "We, uh, the unemployment rate is still one of the lowest we've had in human history, it's in the 3.6 [percent] area, uh, we still find ourselves with people investing. Uh, my hope is that we go from this rapid growth to a steady growth, and, uh, so we'll see some coming down. But I don't think we're going to, uh, God willing, I don't think we're going to see a recession." 

This has been a consistent narrative from the White House, as it has sought to change the definition of what a recession is, which is typically thought of as two quarters of negative GDP growth. Read more and see videos and tweets here.

The Jaw-Dropping Number of Illegal Immigrant ‘Got Aways’ Under Biden’s Watch

With the Biden administration’s open border policies in full swing, the number of illegal immigrant “got aways” has escalated further. On Monday, the number of people who were known to illegally enter the country but were not intercepted by law enforcement was unveiled to be over 500,000.

Known as “got aways,” sources within the Department of Homeland Security told different reporters about the drastic increase of “got aways” this fiscal year. 

Since fiscal year 2021, which was marked by the start of the Biden presidency, there have been close to one million known “got aways.” Law enforcement agencies at the southern stress these numbers are only the ones who are known to have been able to avoid apprehension and the real number of “got aways” are estimated to be much higher. Because they are not intercepted by law enforcement, it is hard to say definitively who has been able to get away since Border Patrol agents have been bogged…Read more here.

White House says a second consecutive quarter of negative GDP 'unlikely' to be indicative of recession

A Republican National Committee spokesperson said that this further underscores how 'out of touch' President Biden is with Americans

The White House Council of Economic Advisers said on July 21 that even if Friday's advance estimate of the country's GDP is negative, it's still "unlikely" to be indicative that the country is in a recession.

Recessions refer to two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth.

In a blog post, the council of economic advisers says that two consecutive quarters of falling GDP doesn't mean the country is in a recession.

"What is a recession? While some maintain that two consecutive quarters of falling real GDP constitute a recession, that is neither the official definition nor the way economists evaluate the state of the business cycle," the blog post states.

Citing figures from the National Bureau of Economic Research, the post states that their "recession indicator variables" have "exhibited strong growth in the U.S. economy since the start of the pandemic, and have continued to expand through the first half of this year."

Even if the Bureau of Economic Analysis' advance estimate of the second quarter GDP shows a negative number, the blog post says the country is likely not in a recession. Read more and see video here.

Support in Wisconsin’s State Assembly for decertifying President Joe Biden’s 2020 win in the state is growing more than 20 months after the contest.

Election committee leader Janel Brandtjen, a Republican endorsed by former President Donald Trump, released a statement on Friday prompting a rebuke from the legislator’s counterpart in the state Senate.

“Fair and honest elections are the cornerstone of our democracy and we know that the 2020 presidential election was neither fair, nor transparent,” Brandtjen said in a news release posted on Facebook. “Tyranny is at Wisconsin’s door.”

Brandtjen said she would join fellow state Rep. Tim Ramthun, a Republican candidate for governor, in pushing to overturn the last presidential election and dismissed the naysayers. “We have been told for months now that decertification is impossible, meaning there is no downside to cheating in Wisconsin elections,” Brandtjen said. “How many more times do we need to endure this election injustice?” Read more here.
