Democrats shut their eyes to inflationary impact of Biden’s big spending bills
Democrats killed a resolution seeking information from the Treasury on how spending affects inflation

House Democrats rejected a resolution demanding an assessment from the Treasury Department on whether President Biden’s biggest spending bills over the last two years are contributing to inflation.

The GOP resolution requires the Treasury to provide any analysis it has done on this topic to Congress, and it was brought up Thursday at the House Oversight and Reform Committee markup. The resolution targets the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill Biden signed in 2021, and the $750 billion Inflation Reduction Act he signed this year — economists have said both spending bills juiced demand in the U.S. and contributed to inflation levels that haven’t been seen in decades.

But Democrats voted to report the resolution "unfavorably" to the House floor, effectively killing it. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the top Republican on the committee, accused Democrats of willfully ignoring the inflationary effects of the trillions of dollars in spending approved by the Biden administration. It Sure Looks Like Schumer Just Confirmed a 'Far Right Conspiracy Theory'
Leah Barkoukis / Townhall Tipsheet

Conservatives blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday for comments he made supporting a path to citizenship for the nation’s illegal immigrant population.

The pro-abortion Democrat lamented the shortage of workers in the U.S. and pointed out the U.S. population is “not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to.”

He argued the "only way we’re going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants, the DREAMers and all of them, because our ultimate goal is to help the DREAMers, but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million or however many undocumented there are here.”

In addition to pointing out the 11 million number is severely outdated, conservatives reminded Schumer that the U.S. may not have this problem if Democrats didn’t push abortion so ardently. Read more, see tweets and video here.

For the First Time in History, Abbott Uses Executive Order to Override Biden's Border Policies
Sarah Arnold / Townhall Tipsheet

Between President Joe Biden’s ignorance and Republican governors sending illegal migrants to Democrat-run cities, southern states are seeing no relief at the border as Biden continues to ignore the crisis.

However, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is holding the president accountable for his lack of responsibility.

In a letter to the White House, Abbott declared an “invasion” at the southern border, arguing the need for more aggressive efforts to tackle illegal immigration.

“Your inaction has led to catastrophic consequences. Under your watch, America is suffering the highest volume of illegal immigration in the history of our country,” Abbott said in his letter.

Accusing the Biden Administration of blatantly ignoring the crisis, Abbott said that the U.S.- Mexico border is among the deadliest in the world. Read more and see tweet here.

DeSantis Leads Trump By 18 Points in Hypothetical Poll
Sarah Arnold / Townhall Tipsheet

Following former President Trump’s highly anticipated 2024 presidential announcement, many mixed emotions filled Americans' minds, even those who pride themselves on being MAGA supporters.

In a hypothetical poll, voters were asked “if you had to choose, who would you rather see as the Republican nominee for President in 2024: Trump or Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla)?

According to an Economist/YouGov poll, 51 percent of voters said that they would rather see DeSantis in the White House, compared to 33 percent who prefer Trump.

Additionally, the poll found that Americans prefer DeSantis over the 45th president by 74 percent, with only just 14 percent viewing the governor as unfavorable.

This comes as DeSantis shut down rumors about a “GOP Civil War,” telling reporters to “chill out.” “We just finished this election, OK? People just need to chill out a little bit on some of this stuff,” the Florida governor said during a press conference. Read more here.

Liberal Media Melts Down Over Trump's 2024 Announcement
Matt Vespa / Townhall Tipsheet

The day has arrived. As Spencer wrote this evening, Donald Trump already filed the paperwork with the FEC to run for president. He made that announcement official at his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, which federal agents raided in an illegal raid under the auspices of enforcing the Presidential Records Act in August. The remarks from Trump were disciplined regarding his vision for rebuilding America, which is a tad out of character for the former president known for going off script. If any actors were going off the rails, it wasn’t Donald Trump—it was the liberal media.

National Public Radio and The Washington Post did not disappoint in smearing the former president by tying him to January 6, insinuating that he fomented an insurrection over the 2020 election results.

NPR’s breaking news post read, “Donald Trump, who tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election and...Read more, see tweets and video here.
