There’s Something Very Interesting About Trump’s Trial Dates

Dates have been proposed for former President Donald Trump’s four criminal trials, and they appear to follow a suspicious pattern.

Each of Trump's trials will take place at a crucial point in the GOP primary, guaranteeing it will dominate news coverage of the primary from start to finish.

The trials will likely hamstring Trump’s efforts to campaign, and this could undermine his appeal if voters decide the former president is too bogged down to effectively run for a second term. Given the polling and fundraising boosts which Trump has enjoyed after each indictment, however, the trial dates could also push Trump to victory.  

Trump’s Trial for His D.C. Case

Last week, Special Counsel Jack Smith proposed that Trump’s first trial should begin on January 2nd. The date is less than two weeks before the Iowa Caucuses, which mark the beginning of the GOP primary, take place on January 15th. 

If the court agrees to hear the case on January 2nd, Trump’s trial would presumably run all the way through the Iowa Caucuses.

Karine Jean-Pierre Just Embarrassed the Biden White House Again

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre got embarrassed on a friendly network discussing the devastation of the island of Maui. Last week, massive brushfires tore through Hawaii, likely caused by damaged electrical wires subjected to high winds from a hurricane off the coast. The blaze killed over 100 people, with the death toll expected to rise. There are at least 1,000 people still unaccounted for as recovery efforts continue. Total damages are $6 billion. It’s one of the deadliest wildfires in a century. 

 

he Biden White House is still recovering from the president’s compassionless remarks about the rising death toll. While vacationing on the Delaware shore, Biden said, “No comment” when asked about the situation on the island. After mounting backlash, Biden will visit Hawaii sometime next week.

But Ms. Grey Poupon, who is abysmal at her job, worsened the public relations issues by going on CNN and telling Maui survivors to use the FEMA website if they need assistance. Even CNN’s Sara Sidner couldn’t let this slide. Poupon knows that damaged power lines caused this fire, right? And that Maui is virtually a burned-out cinder. There’s no power, ma’am. Karine Jean-Pierre: Simply the Worst

There is one universal truth in politics in the United States of America: Liberals fail up.

It doesn’t matter how awful they are, either as people or in their jobs (or both), liberals will always fail upward to a better position, more money or whatever else is a step-up in their careers. Talent and ability have zero role in this, no place whatsoever.

Exhibit A in this new and decidedly political phenomenon is Karine Jean-Pierre, the fumbling, stumbling former public face of the rabid left-wing Move On group created to excuse Bill Clinton’s every sin, moral or criminal, imploring the country to just “move on” from them. It’s funny how someone who used to make their living telling people to “move on” spends most of her day blaming the previous administration for her current boss’s failures.

But that’s how the left works – the administration of Barack Obama was nothing more than celebrating him for his skin color while scrambling to blame the George W. Bush administration for every one of his failings. Somehow, after eight years, Barack Obama wasn’t responsible for never having achieved three percent growth in any given year, but under President Donald Trump, when the economy finally kicked into gear after his economic policies were implemented, that was because of Obama…or something.

House, Senate Republicans team up to crack down on FTC for destroying documents related to congressional probe

Top Republicans on Capitol Hill are vowing a crackdown on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for allegedly destroying documents related to a congressional probe.

"By deleting documents, the FTC likely violated federal law. It also impeded Congressional oversight of the FTC’s recent, unprecedented actions, including its proposed rule banning non-compete clauses," Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican and ranking member on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, wrote in a letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan, which was dated for Thursday and shown to Fox Digital ahead of its release.

"Congress and the public deserve an explanation of why the FTC improperly destroyed records, what records it improperly destroyed, and what steps will be taken to ensure it never happens again," Cruz wrote, joined by Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. James Comer, a Kentucky Republican and the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Could Trump Be Facing a Fifth Indictment? One Governor Is Pushing for It.

Donald Trump has been indicted again in the Georgia 2020 election probe. It’s the fourth indictment against the former president, who is running to reclaim this old job next year. These legal actions have had zero impact on his standing in the polls; Trump remains comfortably in the lead as the GOP frontrunner. Yet, given that he's facing nearly 100 charges and with the forces stacked against him, it’s hard to see how Trump walks away from these trials unscathed. 

He’ll likely be convicted of something, setting the stage for a January 6-like event on steroids. And Democrats are only too happy to bait conservatives on that front. But that’s for another time. We need to revisit this legal circus because it might not be over. Could there be a fifth indictment looming? Since the Georgia indictment, all eyes have turned to Arizona, where Democratic Gov. Lawyer Has One Key Question About the Georgia Indictment Against Trump. It Will Irritate Liberals.

The Georgia indictment against former President Donald Trump is around 100 pages, but the legal gurus at Powerline blog read it and walked away with one key question: where’s the beef? Actually, our friends at Hot Air came up with that question, but John Hinderaker, an attorney, would have happily agreed, adding that there isn’t much criminality alleged in the indictment. It’s a liberal tirade masked as law, which you knew, but even the most explosive portions, which the liberal media will harp on, aren’t crimes. The fake elector bit, for example, isn’t a smoking gun at all (via Powerline):

The indictment sets out in detail statements that were made by the defendants about voter fraud in Georgia and other states, all of which are alleged to be false. Of course, in the wake of the election, there were many claims of voter fraud. Some of these proved to be true, I think, while others proved to be incorrect. But so what? It is not, in general, a crime to make false statements. If it were, Washington would be a ghost town.
