Why Tom Cotton Should Do a Victory Lap Over the National Guard Being Deployed in NYC

It was an opinion piece that cost a New York Times editor his job. James Bennet signed off on Sen. Tom Cotton's (R-AK) article that said deploying the National Guard to maintain law and order in our cities during the 2020 riots might be necessary. This op-ed ran following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Cotton also cited instances during the Civil Rights Movement when the National Guard was mobilized to keep the peace. Bennet was forced to resign from the Times following the woke uproar. It took four years, but New York City adopted the Cotton protocol by deploying almost 1,000 National Guard units in the subway system to deter crime (via NBC News):

Biden Campaign Focusing on Going for ‘Trump’s Jugular’

Wasn’t it the rule that the first campaign to go negative was exhibiting a sign of weakness? The Biden campaign fits the bill. Unlike the Republican Party, which is unifying under Donald Trump, the Democratic Party has multiple factions at odds with Joe Biden. They’re all potential election killers if there’s no turnaround, but there’s plenty of time for Biden’s team to quell the angst among black, Hispanic, Muslim American, and labor union voters. Does Joe have the skill and mental acuity to pull this off? He doesn’t. 

The 2024 Biden playbook for Trump is a retread of Obama’s plan against Mitt Romney: kill Trump. The president intends to go for Trump’s “jugular” by mocking him every day (via Axios):

Biden to deliver State of the Union speech at the latest date ever

President Biden is giving his second State of the Union address Thursday, when he’s expected to tout his administration’s accomplishments and set goals for the future in front of a Congress that is one of the most politically fractured in modern history.

Biden is making his case to a Democrat-dominated Senate that’s largely followed his lead on major legislation and a House Republican majority that’s actively investigating him for impeachable crimes.

The date of the speech, March 7, is the latest a State of the Union address has ever been delivered.

It’s just the second time a president’s in-person address to a joint session of Congress was not delivered in January or February. Biden delivered his first address to Congress March 1, 2022.

Former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley will announce Wednesday that she is suspending her presidential bid, a top Haley source told Axios.

Why it matters: Haley became the first woman to win a GOP presidential primary earlier this month, but her rise in the polls and 11th-hour endorsements were not enough to break former President Trump's commanding lead.

• She's expected to announce the news in remarks on Wednesday morning, the Wall Street Journal first reported.
• The source confirmed Haley won't endorse Trump. Instead, she'll encourage Trump "to earn the support of Republicans and independent voters who backed her," The Journal reports.

Haley's announcement effectively ends the GOP presidential primary and confirms a historic rematch between President Biden and Trump, who is also facing four criminal indictments.

...In fact, here in the U.S., vaccine development must undergo certain specific steps before a vaccine is deemed both safe and effective for use. These steps begin with exploratory phases, pre-clinical trials, a new drug application, four phases of actual vaccine trials, and thorough vetting from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Food and Drug Administration...steps taking years if done right. But Fauci used as the reason for the needed rush the severity of the Covid pandemic to justify and then push Trump to “expedite” the process in order to get folks to line up for the “jab”...much needed “herd immunity“ be damned.

Translation: “Big Pharma” did sing Fauci's praises as the process was hurried along while they sidestepped much of the “numbers needed“ testing phase. And the vaccine manufacturers happily lined their pockets no matter that side effects, almost immediately, started to show up, but were just as quickly hushed up.Read entire article here.

Biden's new strategy: Go for Trump's jugular

President Biden is privately pushing for a much more aggressive approach to 2024: Go for Donald Trump's jugular.

Why it matters: Biden is convinced he'll rattle Trump if he taunts him daily.

Biden has told friends he thinks Trump is wobbly, both intellectually and emotionally, and will explode if Biden mercilessly gigs and goads him — "go haywire in public," as one adviser put it.

• Other sources tell us that Biden is looking for a fight.
• Biden's instincts tell him to let it fly when warning about the consequences of Trump winning the presidency again. Biden told The New Yorker that Trump would refuse to admit losing, again.

Between the lines: The "trigger Trump" approach would be a departure from a traditional Rose Garden re-election campaign.
