Floridians will remember Labor Day 2016 by the arrival of a hurricane named Hermine. She unpacked her comeback punch of 80 mph winds just before moving onshore. There's another comeback punch I believe will also be attributed to this time in history: that of U. S. Senator Marco Rubio.

The biggest of swing states, Florida is again the poster child of battleground states. Her conservative and socially conservative voters are poised to rise and lead this nation in defense of a liberal hijacking of the U. S. Supreme Court.

And they’ll help Marco Rubio get elected to defend it.

The mainstream media was ready to pen the narrative that Senator Marco Rubio’s shortfall in his Presidential quest would also doom any hope of defending his Senate seat. Hillary was being projected as a sure bet to take care of business in Florida.

Now I’m not a betting man, but after looking at the numbers of our just completed Florida Primary, I wouldn’t even paper trade this scenario.

More on that in a moment, but first an insider’s look at Marco Rubio.

CNN Poll: Clinton Blows Double Digit Lead, Trails Trump By Two Points Nationally

A new CNN poll shows Republican Donald Trump has closed an 11-point gap with Democrat Hillary Clinton and leads her nationally in the race for the White House by two points.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton start the race to November 8 on essentially even ground, with Trump edging Clinton by a scant two points among likely voters, and the contest sparking sharp divisions along demographic lines in a new CNN/ORC Poll.

Trump tops Clinton 45% to 43% in the new survey, with Libertarian Gary Johnson standing at 7% among likely voters in this poll and the Green Party's Jill Stein at just 2%.

Among those likely to turn out in the fall, both candidates have secured about the same share of their own partisans (92% of Democrats back Clinton, 90% of Republicans are behind Trump) but independents give Trump an edge, 49% say they'd vote for him while just 29% of independent voters back Clinton.

Here's a key point from Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway.

And he has this going for him:

A majority of Clinton's supporters say they're less excited about voting this year than usual (55%) while most of Trump's backers say they're more excited this time around (56%).

Trump is leading Clinton on the issues of the economy and terrorism, while Clinton beats him out on foreign policy and immigration. He also leads Clinton on trustworthiness 50 percent to 35 percent.

It's clear the recent campaign shakeup, Trump's trip to Mexico last week and Hillary Clinton's ongoing email scandal and Clinton Foundation woes are having a significant impact.

Politico: Team Hillary Confident They Can Run Out The Clock On Clinton Foundation Trip Up...(Big Mistake)

The Clinton campaign is confident they can “run out the clock” on the latest developments regarding the Clinton Foundation and the ongoing email fiasco. Team Hillary feels that voters are sick of the email controversy, labeling it a fake scandal. Politico reported this back on August 24:

According to allies and operatives close to the campaign, Clinton’s team thinks “they can ride out” any negative reaction to a set of new emails that show Clinton Foundation officials trying to set up State Department meetings for donors during her tenure as the nation's top diplomat. 

“That doesn’t mean no response,” one Clinton team insider said, “but a muted one rather than a five-alarm fire.”

It's a strategy borne, in part, of a belief held deeply by Clinton herself that the email controversy is a fake scandal and that voters are as sick of it as the candidate herself — and by the profound weaknesses of Clinton's opponent.

Plus, the campaign thinks Clinton’s commanding lead over Donald Trump in both national and battleground state polls gives her freedom to not comment — indeed, largely ignore — the disclosure this week that the FBI found nearly 15,000 new emails Clinton did not voluntarily hand over to the State Department last year.

EPA’s Dangerous Regulatory Pollution

If you’re wondering whether to trust the Environmental Protection Agency on mercury, ozone, climate change or other regulatory actions, you need look no further than how it has handled particulates.

EPA whitewashed the toxic flash flood it caused in Colorado. But it says particulate matter smaller than 10 microns (PM10) is risky and worries incessantly about 2.5-micron particles. (A human hair is 50-70 microns; dust, pollen and mold are around 10; combustion exhaust particles are 2.5 microns or smaller.)

The tinier specks, EPA asserts, “can get deep into your lungs, and some may even get into your bloodstream.” Eliminating all such particles in our air is absolutely essential to human health, longevity and well-being, the agency insists. There is no threshold below which there is no risk, its advisors say.

Studies demonstrate “an association” between “premature mortality and fine particle pollution at the lowest levels measured,” EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy told Congress. They have not found a level “at which premature mortality effects do not occur.” Reducing emissions and exposure always yields health benefits.

Broad population-based epidemiological evidence “links” short term PM2.5 exposures (hours or days) to cardiovascular and respiratory mortality, an EPA report claims. Long-term exposure (years or decades) has been “linked” to respiratory disease and cardiovascular and lung cancer mortality.
