Ron DeSantis Fires Back Against Biden's Unconstitutional OSHA Vaccine Mandate

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis promised Thursday that his state would join Georgia, Alabama, and others to bring a lawsuit against the Biden administration's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) employer vaccine mandate.

Announced by President Joe Biden in September and released Thursday - almost two months later - in a nearly 500-page document, the OSHA regulations require employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their employees are either vaccinated against Covid-19 or tested weekly. Additionally, most unvaccinated employees in most situations will be required to wear a mask while on the job (via Florida.gov).

As soon as the unlawful emergency temporary standard (ETS) is published in the Federal Register tomorrow, the lawsuit will be immediately filed with the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

“We started with 15 days to slow the spread and now it’s get jabbed or lose your job,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We’re supposed to be a government of laws, not a government of men. This OSHA rule is 500 pages of a government of bureaucracy, a government that is being run by executive edict, not a government bound by constitutional constraints. Two hundred House Republicans signed a letter Monday urging US President Joe Biden not to go forward with plans to reopen the American consulate in Jerusalem, which historically served as the de facto representative office to the Palestinians.

The letter spearheaded by Rep. Lee Zeldin followed GOP legislation in the Senate aimed at blocking such a move, which has become the latest victim of partisan politics in Washington. Read more and see tweets and video here.

Glenn Youngkin's Support for Parental Rights and Education Invigorates Supporters: 'Virginia is Back!'

Early on Wednesday morning, Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) took the podium to address supporters in Chantilly, Virginia. From the start, to many Virginians, Youngkin represented a powerful grassroots candidate, who inspired voters throughout the commonwealth of all demographics. As the race progressed, education particularly turned out to be an important issue. And, for a significant part of the electorate, the most important issue. 

A major part of Youngkin's victory speech touched upon education, as highlighted by Tim Hains for RealClearPolitics:

The Most Incredible Election Win Didn't Happen in Virginia

A great deal of media attention on Wednesday focused on Virginia Republican Glenn Youngkin’s win and the many down ballot races in both Virginia, New Jersey, and elsewhere that Republicans swept. But the best story by far is the upset that happened in New Jersey’s District 3. As Townhall reported Wednesday, Edward Durr, a GOP truck driver who had a shoestring budget, was on the verge of taking out Steve Sweeney, the longest-serving president of the state Senate in New Jersey's history.

With all expected votes in, Durr is ahead by about 2,000 points. While for some reason the race hasn’t officially been called—a point other media outlets were puzzled by—the Republican State Leadership Committee's email Wednesday evening suggested that it’s over.  

Durr’s incredible victory was also part of an overall sweep in District 3, with Bethanne McCarthy and Beth Sawyer also flipping the district’s Assembly seats. Read more and see video here.

New Jersey Republican makes it a race against favored Dem: 'Too close to call'

The campaigns ended their Election Night without either claiming victory

The race for governor in New Jersey remained too close to call early Wednesday as Gov. Phil Murphy’s Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli clings on to a slight lead.

The two waged tense campaigns and Murphy presented himself as a solid progressive. Ciattarelli tried to paint Murphy as out of touch with the average voter and was critical of his leadership during the COVID-19 epidemic.

The campaigns ended their Election Night parties without either claiming victory. Both struck optimistic tones with their supporters.

"We’ve sent a message to the entire nation. This is what I love about this state: Every single time it's gone too far off track, the people of this state have pushed, pulled and prodded it right back to where it needs to be," Ciattarelli said. Read more and see videos here.

Youngkin defeats McAuliffe in race for Virginia governor

The Fox News Decision Desk can now project that Republican Glenn Youngkin will win the gubernatorial race in Virginia, defeating former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe in a statewide election with national implications that McAuliffe was once expected to win.

Youngkin ran a disciplined campaign, focusing on taxes, crime, and holding public schools accountable to parents, while McAuliffe spent much of his fire power the past couple of months linking Youngkin to former President Donald Trump.

McAuliffe also nationalized the race, campaigning with President Biden, Vice President Harris, former President Obama, and other top Democrats in an unsuccessful attempt to boost his fortunes.

“Alrighty Virginia, we won this thing,” Youngkin told supporters in his victory speech a little after 1 AM Wednesday. And he vowed that “together, we will change the trajectory of this commonwealth.” Read more and see videos here.
