Maxine Waters Denies Ever Using Violent Rhetoric Toward Trump, Administration Officials

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters claimed on Sunday that she never encouraged violence against members of the Trump administration.

“As a matter of fact, if you look at the words that I used, the strongest thing I said was tell them they're not welcome," the California Democrat told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi after he asked if she ever “glorified or encouraged” violence.

“Talk to them," she recalled saying. "Tell them they’re not welcome. I didn’t say go and fight. I didn’t say anybody was going to have any violence. And so they can’t make that statement.”

Waters’ infamous 2018 comments came after backlash over the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy. On MSNBC at the time, she said “the people…[are] going to absolutely harass them.”

Voting for Donald Trump’s impeachment and keeping the people in leadership positions who supported this recent impeachment push is going to drive the GOP base mad. It already has. I will not be shocked if Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) faces a serious primary challenge in 2022. While there were reports that at least half of the House GOP caucus wanted her gone, she remained, handily winning a secret ballot vote. It’s a classic case of all talk, no action. Saying one thing but doing another. I know, that’s a hallmark characteristic of American politics, but people have had it. It’s given in to the populist swell within the GOP. And with Trump gone, there is a fear that a new party could emerge. Now, Trump’s political team has disavowed the formation of this “patriot party.” But that’s not the same thing as Trump himself saying he has done so. GOP leadership should be watching. Their base is getting restless with these betrayals, one of the biggest being the failed repeal of Obamacare. For ten years, that was a promise — and nothing happened. No wonder why a new poll shows that a whopping 64 percent of Republicans would jump ship for a Trump-led political party. Oh, and the former president would get a sizeable chunk of Democrats too (via The Hill):

House Strips GOP Congresswoman of Committee Assignments Over Past Beliefs

All House Democrats and 11 GOP representatives voted on Thursday to strip Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of her two committee assignments. Greene has come under fire for having believed in various conspiracy theories prior to her run for Congress. 

Earlier on Thursday, Greene told her House colleagues that she grew to distrust mainstream media sources and stumbled into QAnon and other conspiracy theories. Greene said she no longer believes such theories because she found some of the information to be untrue. But Greene's appeals fell on too many deaf ears. 

In a mostly party-line vote, the House decided to remove the freshman congresswoman from the House Budget Committee and the Committee on Education and Labor. Democrats said they were forced to take the unprecedented action of stripping Greene from her committee assignments because GOP leaders had failed to penalize the congresswoman for her past beliefs.

Biden Breaks the Middle Peace With UAE Again, Reverses Trump Decision to Remove Tariffs on Key Ally in Peace

Is the Biden Administration trying to destroy the Abraham Accords, which brought peace between Israel and four Arab countries? These deals are very young and fragile. They should not be tampered with as they are being cemented.

The Biden administration has delivered a blow to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the second time in as many weeks, reversing a decision by the Trump administration to remove aluminum tariffs that would have been effective February 3.

President Donald Trump signed an exemption for the UAE from a 10% aluminum tariff he imposed in 2018. The move was perceived as a reward for the UAE’s peace agreement with Israel, known as the Abraham Accords. That deal opened the door to other peace and normalization agreements among Israel and the Arab states — much to the irritation of Iran.
