Judge questions Rittenhouse gun charge, raising doubts about prosecution's case
Unlawful possession of the gun has been prominent fact cited not only by prosecutors but press.

In covering the motions hearing last week in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, I noted a surprising comment from Judge Bruce Schroeder that he had "spent hours" with the Wisconsin gun law and could not state with certainty what it means in this case.

The statement could effectively knock out the misdemeanor gun possession count – the one count that could still be in play for the jury after the prosecution's case on the more serious offense appeared to collapse in court. A close examination of that provision reveals ample reason to question not just its meaning but its application to this case.

The unlawful possession of the gun has been a prominent fact cited not only by the prosecutors but the press.

The exchange was all the more baffling because it drew attention to the fact that one of Binger's alleged "victims" was an adult named Gaige Grosskreutz, who also decided to bring a handgun to the protests and pointed his .40 caliber Glock at the head of Rittenhouse when he was shot in the arm. How Bad Are the Problems With Harris? Jen Psaki's Sunday Night Tweet Is Telling
Leah Barkoukis / Townhall Tipsheet

With Vice President Kamala Harris’s approval ratings cratering even below President Biden’s, and left-leaning media outlets like CNN running pieces on the “entrenched dysfunction and lack of focus” by the VP and her staff, White House Press Secretary came on Twitter late Sunday night to defend Harris.

“For anyone who needs to hear it. @VP is not only a vital partner to @POTUS but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country—from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband,” Psaki said.

Symone Sanders, Harris’ senior adviser and spokesperson, also released a statement after the CNN story (Matt will have more on that today), calling it “gossip.”

"It is unfortunate that after a productive trip to France in which we reaffirmed our relationship with America's oldest ally and demonstrated U.S. leadership on the world stage, and following passage of a historic, bipartisan infrastructure bill that will create jobs and strengthen our communities, some in the media are focused on gossip — not on the results that the President and Vice President have delivered,” she said. Appeals Court Affirms Stay on Biden's Vaccine Mandate
Rebecca Downs / Townhall Tipsheet

Last Saturday the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a temporary stay against the Biden administration's vaccine mandate for private businesses with 100 or more employees. On Friday night, the court affirmed its decision, as reported by Dan Whitcomb for Reuters.

"The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld the ruling despite the Biden administration saying on Monday that halting implementation of the rule could lead to the deaths of dozens or even hundreds of workers," Whitcomb wrote.

The mandate was set to go into effect on January 4, but employers, employees, organizations, and several states brought suit almost immediately.

One of the attorney generals involved in bringing the suit, Texas' Ken Paxton lauded the ruling over Twitter. Read more and see tweets here.

Is This a 'Blckface' Attempt? The Left Tries to Cancel Glenn Youngkin...And It Fails Miserably
Matt Vespa / Townhall Tipsheet

Is this for real? I had to do a double-take because this cannot be serious. The Democrats are trying to pull a ‘blackface’ Northam attack on Virginia Gov-elect Glenn Youngkin. Youngkin, a Republican, handily beat Democrat Terry McAuliffe in this year’s gubernatorial election. Liberals think Youngkin won due to white supremacy because that’s the default reason they have when they lose elections they think they’re entitled to win. So, to further that fake narrative, they’re truly embarrassing themselves. They’ve found a yearbook photo of Glenn Youngkin in a tuxedo. Yeah, that’s the big bombshell. Oh, sorry—it was his senior prom where other students dressed in “Asian garb.”

Lord Jesus, it’s a fire. Grab me a cold pop…because this is a nothing burger. Again, what moron thinks that wearing a tuxedo is worse than wearing blackface for a Michael Jackson dancing competition? Read more and see tweets here.
