Defiant Biden Declares He Has 'No Regrets' About Mishandling Classified Documents
Spencer Brown / Townhall Tipsheet

While on a trip out west to tour storm damage in Northern California on Thursday evening, President Biden was predictably asked again about his mishandling of at least 20 pages of classified documents that have surfaced at his post-VP office and in his garage and home in Wilmington, Delaware.

After making a statement, Biden decided to take questions and a Bloomberg's Jennifer Jacobs asked whether the president had any regrets that he didn't reveal that classified documents had been found in his possession in November, just before the midterms, when the first set of sensitive materials were found in his Penn Biden Center office in Washington, D.C.

"As we found, uh, we found a handful of documents that were failed- uh, filed in the wrong place," Biden responded, seemingly struggling to read from an answer that was previously prepared for him. Read more see tweet and see video here.

US debt ceiling forces Treasury into 'extraordinary measures'
Treasury's 'extraordinary measures' expected to keep US from defaulting on debt until at least early June

The federal government officially reached its $31.38 trillion debt limit on Thursday, prompting the Treasury Department to begin using its "extraordinary measures" to avoid defaulting on the national debt for the next few months.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced in a letter to Congress last week that the U.S. would reach the debt limit on Jan. 19 and that her agency would have to deploy two of the four extraordinary measures at its disposal to continue to make payments on the debt and avoid default.

"Once the limit is reached, Treasury will need to start taking certain extraordinary measures to prevent the United States from defaulting on its obligation," she wrote.

Based on the Treasury Department's projections, Yellen noted that while there is uncertainty over how much time her agency can buy, "it is unlikely that cash and extraordinary measures will be exhausted before early June." With the federal government now on borrowed time to act on the debt, lawmakers...Read more and see video here.

Biden's 'Blood Battery' Energy Agreement Incentivizes Forced Labor in African Mines
Spencer Brown / Townhall Tipsheet

The State Department announced on Wednesday that the United States had signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Zambia "concerning support for the development of a value chain in the electric vehicle battery sector." The MOU is the latest round move in President Biden's war on fossil fuels that he's pledged to "end" and part of his forced "transition" from gasoline-powered cars to electric vehicles. It's also a massive gift to those profiting off of forced labor, including by children, in the African countries signing the memo.

As the State Department explained, "the United States will support the commitment between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia to develop jointly a supply chain for electric vehicle batteries" and "supports the DRC and Zambia’s goal of building a productive supply chain, from the mine to the assembly line, while also committing to respect international standards to prevent, detect, and take legal action to fight corruption throughout this process."

Twitter blue checks reportedly purchased by Taliban officials revoked
The Taliban has long used Twitter and some have praised Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform

The verified "blue check" for senior Taliban officials on Twitter appears to have been revoked following media reports that they paid the social media site's $8 monthly subscription fee for the verified status.

Two officials with the Taliban subscribed to the Twitter Blue service, a monthly service offered after new owner Elon Musk took over the social media platform, the New York Post reported.

The BBC reported earlier Tuesday that Taliban officials Abdul Haq Hammad, the top media official at the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture, and Hedayatullah Hedayat, the head of the Taliban's department for "access to information," paid for the blue check.

Some Taliban supporters also acquired the blue check, though the symbol was not visible on their account pages. After the report, their verified status disappeared, the Post reported.

Was This a Fatal Hire for the Biden White House?
Matt Vespa / Townhall Tipsheet

The Biden White House is racing into the bunker amid their classified document scandal. Joe was caught stashing sensitive materials at multiple locations, including his residence in Wilmington, Delaware. One trove was found in his garage. Some more files marked top secret were found inside the home. These files were taken when Joe was vice president and left the Obama administration. In that position, Joe couldn’t legally possess those documents. The Department of Justice appointed a special counsel to review these breaches. White House Press Secretary Karine Grey Poupon is incapable of handling questions about the crisis, which is now an all-press corps effort. It’s no longer a conservative media topic—it’s a national concern because the Democrats made it so last summer. Biden said he takes the handling of such state secrets seriously.

To complicate matters, you have a slew of Democratic Party operatives who realize that Karine can’t do the job here, suggesting that the White House appoint a designated spokesperson for all things related to this classified document circus.
