Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., launched an investigation into a left-wing group in California that he says may be financially supporting violent protests in Los Angeles.

Hawley wrote a letter to the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) on Wednesday, saying the organization may have an "alleged role in financially and materially supporting" protests and riots in Los Angeles, which he described as "coordinated."

"Who is funding the LA riots? This violence isn’t spontaneous. As chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime & Terrorism, I’m launching an investigation to find out," Hawley announced on social media.

The letter, addressed to CHIRLA Executive Director Angelica Salas, notes that "credible reporting" has indicated that the organization has provided "logistical support and financial resources to individuals engaged in these disruptive...Read more, see X and video here.

This Governor Is Proactively Deploying National Guard Soldiers to Several Parts of His State
Madeline Leesman / Townhall Tipsheet

This week, violent anti-ICE protests have broken out all over Los Angeles, California. In response, President Donald Trump has deployed Marines and the National Guard to disperse the protesters.

Predictably, the protesters have destroyed businesses, vehicles, and other personal property, as well as assaulted law enforcement. Yesterday, reports broke that a body was found on a sidewalk near looted businesses.

This week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott asserted that he was deploying the Texas National Guard proactively to ensure that there would be no anti-ICE riots in the state.

This came as there were reports of possible planned protests across the Lone Star State.

Abbott’s office confirmed the deployment in a statement to ABC News, stating that Guardsmen were ready to "uphold law and order across our state. Read more and see X here.

Who Is Funding the LA Riots? Kash Patel Is Getting to the Bottom of It.
Jeff Charles / Townhall Tipsheet

FBI Director Kash Patel said the Bureau is investigating the source of funding that is fueling the riots in Los Angeles, California.

Sections of Los Angeles have seen rioters engaging in property damage, looting stores, clashing with law enforcement authorities, and vandalizing police vehicles. The riots are a response to a series of raids Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out in the area last week. However, many view the unrest as a statement against the Trump administration’s mass deportations of illegal immigrants.

In a statement to Just the News, Patel confirmed that the FBI “is investigating any and all monetary connections responsible for these riots.”

Just the News noted that the possibility of money sent by migrants to their families in Mexico could be a sticking point for those in the city. Read more, see Xs and video here.

Bradford Betz, Yonat Friling / Fox News

Israeli forces early Monday detained an aid boat bound for Gaza while carrying Greta Thunberg and other activists.

The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that it detained the Madleen, along with all its passengers, and diverted the vessel to Israel.

A video from the ministry posted on X shows an Israeli Navy officer engaging with the approaching "selfie yacht."

"Using an international civilian communication system, the Israeli Navy has instructed the ‘selfie yacht’ to change its course due to its approach toward a restricted area," a post from the ministry read.

The video shows a Navy officer telling them that the maritime of the Gaza coast is closed to traffic. She instructs the activists on board that they must deliver aid through established channels. See Xs and videos here.
