Op-ed:

The personal side to ObamaCare is not pretty, not pretty at all.
While the Obama supporters, minions and flunkies hail ObamaCare as healthcare for all, it is anything but. And while we all know the basics of it...the true tax end of it...the human stories of its ramifications are sorely missing. I’ll fill you in on two personal ones so you know just what we’re really facing.
My best friend has cancer, stage 3C ovarian cancer to be exact...one step above terminal. Last year she was ‘gutted’ as they say to get as much of the cancer out as they could, but being that there was lymph node involvement who knows if they really did get it all. Her CA-125 blood test (the cancer indicator) at that time was through the roof, and so she has undergone a year of serious kick-ass chemo, which we all know is anything but fun.
In addition to the standard chemo, an experimental drug was added to the mix that did the trick...brought her blood tests down to normal and sent her into remission. Remission for now anyway, and while we celebrate that achievement there is a downside and a big one...the experimental drug she’s on will NO longer be covered under ObamaCare and the clinical trial she’s in that’s testing the drug’s effectiveness stands to be totally discontinued.
Will her remission last, I can only hope and pray that it does, but if it doesn’t the drug that saved her life will NO longer be available to help her and the other women like her. Under ObamaCare most experimental clinical trials, like the one my best friend is in, will be no more as ObamaCare doesn’t allow for those trials because the few lives saved or prolonged are deemed NOT worth the cost.
Or so says ObamaCare.
ObamaCare has set itself up as judge and jury over who lives and who dies...whose life is worth saving and whose is not and unfortunately under ObamaCare my best friend is NOT worthy of life, because the drug she needs to live is just too expensive to waste the money on to save her life.
Another person very close to me has Parkinson’s disease, and while this person’s case is NOT terminal in the same sense that a 3-C cancer diagnosis is, it still is a death sentence nevertheless, although that death might take years to happen.
With Parkinson’s we’re talking about quality of life...the ability to interact with the world. Parkinson’s takes many guises from the hand shaking we’re all familiar with to NO shaking but with an inability to walk or sometimes even losing the ability to swallow. The body fails slowly at first then the failing speeds up but all the while the person’s brain remains the same...alert, cognoscente and functioning, knowing all that is happening, yet no longer able to control the simple bodily movements we all take for granted.
There are drugs to treat Parkinson’s, many time honored and even some new promising breakthrough ones. After a period of time, the time honored ones no longer control the symptoms as tolerance is built up to them and the patient is moved on to the newer ones, but then again the newest of the new, the ones most successful at controlling the symptoms and stopping the progression of the disease, are in clinical trial and guess what...they’re drugs again targeted by ObamaCare to be discontinued.
And why...because Parkinson’s, while hitting younger people to some degree (like Michael J. Fox), is primarily a disease of seniors and the elderly, the very ones ObamaCare could care less about, the very ones targeted by the so-called ‘death panels’ and rationed medicine. The very ones felt to be a drain on society.
And under ObamaCare the one sentenced to die for having Parkinson’s, the one ObamaCare could care less about; the one whose life is deemed useless and a drain on society is that of my mother.
How I hate the abomination that is ObamaCare...how I hate the man whose name it bears.
ObamaCare should never have been, should never have been implemented, and in all that we hold dear as decent and moral, ObamaCare MUST be repealed.
ObamaCare is not about compassionate and equal healthcare for all, but is about middle-class hard working Americans who yet again are being forced to carry the burden for those draining the system... the ILLEGALS and the 47+% who pay NO taxes...the ones indebted to Obama for their free ride...the ones whose votes he knows he can always count on for no one bites the hand that feeds them as the saying goes.
ObamaCare works for these people as it feeds right into their ‘you owe me so g’me, g’me’ philosophy, but for ‘We the People’ ObamaCare is a financial burden that we can ill afford nor is it something we want as the cost in the lives of those we love is just too damn high a price to pay.
We all have a story to tell, some stories will break hearts and wound souls, but we all know this is our last chance to get it right so as always, November 6th just can’t come soon enough.

I'm sorry 'bout your mamma achoti...... We have to vote him out.... I hope peeps wake up.....
ReplyDeleteThanks, RainyGurl. So do I hope he's voted out for all our sakes.. This man is so dangerous, most don't even realize how dangerous and by the time they do it will be too late.
DeleteSome people truly do not realize that this election can mean life or death. This is a travesty and I know this is close to your heart Diane but thanks for putting your thoughts in writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrea. Maybe putting a human face to it will wake some people up to the dangers that not only is ObamaCare but is the man himself.
