Op-ed:
Drones killing Americans is
OK...waterboarding the enemy is not
By: Diane Sori
Something evil this way comes...or in
the case of Barack HUSSEIN Obama it's already here.
A basic premise we all learned back in middle school is that our government gets its powers from the consent of the governed...meaning 'We the People.' Well last time I checked NO one gave this president permission to target and kill American citizens in unmanned drone attacks overseas... for if it's done overseas it's only a matter of time before Obama gives the go-ahead for it to be done here.
As in against us patriots who don't see him as our anointed lord and savior.
A recently disclosed 16-page Justice
Department memo entitled 'Lawfulness of a Lethal Operation Directed
Against a U.S. Citizen who is a Senior Operational Leader of Al
Qa’ida or An Associated Force' ('aint that a mouthful) shows that
Obama has clearly overstepped his bounds by stating that our
government, meaning Obama himself, can order the killing of American
citizens if they are believed to be operational leaders of al-Qaida
or any another terrorist group even if there's NO intel proving they
are engaged in a plot to attack this country or even that they're a
member of said groups.
This action is “legal, ethical, and
wise” according to an official statement issued yesterday by White
House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
How odd that this president who is so
against waterboarding and other enhanced highly successful
interrogation techniques finds it perfectly acceptable to use drones
to target and kill American overseas without due-process of search
and seizure and judge and jury. Using the argument that the use of
lethal force, in this case drones, is consistent with the rules of
war and would NOT violate the assassination ban as a lawful killing
in self-defense is not an assassination (as stated by US State
Department legal advisor Harold Koh in 2010), making this
acceptable according to the White House and Justice Department.
Eric
'Fast and Furious' Holder's Justice Department.
Now there's someone we can trust
(insert sarcasm here) to decide why targeted kills against Americans
does NOT violate constitutional protections given American citizens
as well as a US law that criminalizes the killing of Americans
overseas.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for
killing the enemy, especially such a vile, barbaric, perverted enemy
whose blatant goal is to kill us all, but our country was founded on
a system of checks and balances NOT on a system decided upon by a
narcissistic fraud of a president who suddenly says American
'supposed' al-Qaeda operatives or their ilk are enemies worthy of
killing even without definitive proof, while at the same time sending
F-16 fighter jets and Abrams tanks to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood now in
control of Egypt.
Can't have it both ways Barry...
And with this OK for targeted kills of Americans, Barack HUSSEIN Obama has clearly overstepped his executive powers even though according to the memo there are at least three criteria that have to be met for a strike to be ordered...there has to be an imminent threat, the target has to have engaged in terrorist activities, and the target has to be unable to be captured.
Now tell me who decides that those criteria have been met...none other than Barack HUSSEIN Obama himself who is now actually playing God with American lives. And that is totally unacceptable and a totally scary scenario.
If ever there was a time to rally behind the Second Amendment and the NRA, and most assuredly NOT give up our guns, that time is now.
