Hurricane Irma Was Tough...We Floridians Were Tougher
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor
For example, initial assessments found 25% of homes in the Keys demolished and 65% with major damage. And 6.7 million Floridians are without power with Florida Power & Light (FP&L) saying western parts of our state might be without electricity until September 22nd at best. And those of us whose power has been restored are still experiencing sporadic outages throughout the day.
And in the northeastern corner of Florida, the city of Jacksonville was still recovering from heavy flooding.
But through all this we survived. And while the usual few took advantage of a sad situation by looting...by stealing...most people have shown kindness, compassion, and offered to help...things we Floridians will always remember.
And so to Irma I say good riddance...we will rebuild better than ever...and we proved for all the world to see just how tough, strong, and determined we Floridians are.
