A Brief Statement on the Israel/Hamas Three Phase Ceasefire Agreement

Earlier this week it was reported that Israel and Hamas had reached a ceasefire agreement to end the ongoing 15-month long Israel/Hamas war. Also reported was that Hamas would release 33 Israeli and American hostages in what is “phase one” of a “three phase” agreement. Phase one is to begin this Sunday and last 42 days with three hostages released on the first day, four more on the seventh day, three more every seven days after that, with the last 14 released in the final week of this phase, And this release includes five female Israeli soldiers being exchanged for 50 of the 1,650+ Palestinians...including 30 serving life sentences for terror and murder...being held in Israeli jails.

And phase one encompasses but 12 women and children, men ages 50 and older, two injured Americans, and two French citizens along with the bodies of those who died by Hamas' hand while being held. But remember, 250 hostages were taken on October 7th, and there's still no definitive number of how many of that 250 are still alive. And what should have been a “one-for-one exchange” sees Hamas coming out on top as but three Israeli hostages will be released for 95 Palestinians.

And this same agreement also saw issues regarding who exactly Hamas wanted released from Israeli custody, and also if the Israeli military would remain in the strategic Philadelphi Corridor... Gaza’s border with Egypt. And yes, Israeli will not only remain but will maintain control of said border...the border Hamas used to smuggle Iranian supplied weapons into Gaza which in turn were used to carry out attacks on the Jewish State of Israel.

Simply, I believe this agreement should not have been agreed to. Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to save a nation, and in times of war certain sacrifices must be made to save the multitude over the few, most especially when it involves Iran's proxy army Hamas who has proven time and again that ceasefires are but a “buying time” mechanism to allow for rearming and regrouping. And while I understand the pressure BiBi is under what with the rightful pleas of the hostages' families, the fact remains that this is war...  a war to test if the words “Never Again” truly do mean “Never Again.” Case closed.
