US hits Iran with 'heavy wave' of strikes in retaliation for attempted surprise attack
U.S. Central Command said it carried out a “heavy wave of strikes” on Iranian military targets in response to an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East. CENTCOM added that dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets were hit in Iran, including missile and drone facilities.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • President Donald Trump said American forces based in Jordan had just minutes to respond and shoot down incoming Iranian ballistic missiles during a surprise attack that unfolded early Wednesday local time. U.S. Central Command said all the missiles were intercepted.
