Georgia Conducted a Hand Count Audit of Its Election Results. Guess What it Found?
Guy Benson / Townhall Tipsheet

You may recall a bit of a pre-election hullabaloo over Georgia's plan to hand count votes.  A judge determined that the state's new elections rule was untenable, in a late October order: "After Georgia voters began heading to the polls Tuesday for the first day of early voting in the state, a judge enjoined election officials from moving forward with a controversial new rule that would require the hand counting of ballots when polls close on Nov. 5," CBS News reported at the time.  "Judge Robert McBurney called the rule 'too much, too late.' ...The hand count rule and others were passed in September by the five-person State Election Board on a 3-2 vote, pushed through by a trio of supporters of former President Donald Trump. The rule would require precinct poll managers and poll officers to unseal ballot boxes and count the ballots by hand individually to ensure the tallies match the machine-counted ballot totals." 'New' Russian missile used against Ukraine not hypersonic, defense officials say
Pentagon spokesperson says the missile was 'a new type of lethal capability' launched on the battlefield for the first time
Greg Wehner, Liz Friden / Fox News

Two U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News Thursday that a Russian "experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile" (IRBM) launched at Ukraine was not hypersonic.

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed the attack Thursday evening in an address to the nation and said it was in direct response to the U.S. and the U.K. jointly approving Ukraine’s use of Western-supplied long-range missiles to target Russia.

Putin and U.S. sources have since confirmed the strike was not an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), but the Kremlin chief also claimed the weapon used poses a significant challenge for Western nations.

Deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh confirmed to reporters during a press briefing Thursday that Russia had launched an IRBM based on one of Russia’s ICBM models. She sometimes called the IRBM "experimental," explaining it was the first time the missile had been used on the battlefield. Read more and see video here.
Trump Has a New Attorney General Nominee
Matt Vespa / Townhall Tipsheet

President-elect Donald J. Trump moved quickly to announce a new attorney general nominee following the withdrawal of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). The Florida Republican was simply a bridge too far for at least four Republican senators, essentially killing the nomination. Mr. Gaetz was engulfed in controversy and withdrew his name earlier today. So, Trump decided to nominate Pam Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, as his replacement. Mr. Trump and Ms. Bondi met earlier today, which led to the official announcement hours later.
"I am proud to announce former Attorney General of the Great State of Florida, Pam Bondi, as our next Attorney General of the United States. Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families. Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country. She did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!...Read more and see Xs here.

Trump's Border Czar Issues a Warning to Dem Politicians Pledging to Shelter Illegal Aliens
Matt Vespa / Townhall Tipsheet

President-elect Donald J. Trump announced his former acting head for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Tom Homan, is coming back as the border czar. It won’t be a ceremonial title for liberal media propaganda purposes a la Kamala Harris. Homan is going to seek and deport as many illegal aliens as possible, and there’s not much anyone can do about it (via ABC News):

While Homan has promised to execute "the biggest deportation operation this country has ever seen," he has also acknowledged the breadth of that operation largely depends on how much money Congress provides for it.

With Republicans about to control both the House and Senate, the new Trump administration could have significant flexibility to conduct its operation. But "it all depends on the resources we're given," especially because a bigger operation needs more officers and more detention beds for those being deported, Homan has said. Trump-district House Democrat loses Alaska seat to political scion
Elizabeth Elkind, Sarah Rumpf-Whitten / Fox News

Conservative Republican Nick Begich has won a tight race for Alaska’s lone seat in the House of Representatives, according to the Associated Press.

Begich defeated his main rival, Rep. Mary Peltola, D-Alaska, the first Native Alaskan in Congress, and one of only five House Democrats currently representing a district won by President-elect Trump in 2020.

The win widens the Republican majority in the House to 219 and 213 for Democrats.

The GOP candidate is no stranger to politics, having been born into a prominent political family in Alaska – made up of mostly Democrats.

His grandfather, Nick Begich, Sr., was an Alaska congressman, before mysteriously disappearing on a flight and being pronounced dead in 1972. His uncle, Mark Begich, was a U.S. senator for Alaska from 2009 to 2015.

The other two hopefuls in the race were Alaska Independence Party…Read more and see video here.
