Op-ed:
A November Reality Check
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots Radio
The Op-ed posted here is this authors opinion alone, and does not necessarily represent the views of blogspot.com or Google.

Now that Donald Trump has the Republican presidential nomination basically locked up, July's convention is but a “dog and pony show”...a total waste of time and monies, monies that could well be better spent. Yet two questions still remain on many folks minds, with the first being, can Trump really beat Biden in November; and the second being can Trump, if elected, govern effectively if the Republicans were to lose both the House and the Senate or even just one or the other.

The second question I answered in my article from last week entitled, The Importance Of 'Down Ticket' Voting as it seemed more timely a question with primaries still ongoing, so now I'll answer the first question via a “devil's advocate” type scenario.

But first, remember that no matter how many primaries a candidate wins, primary campaigning itself is usually but a candidate's playing to an audience of their already aligned followers in hopes of garnering more monies to be able to continue campaigning; while the election itself sees many different components coming together no matter ones party affiliation. And this includes the nominee's overall demeanor and personality, as well as can the voters themselves relate to the nominee as a person with whom they have beliefs and values in common.

So while Donald Trump has his fan base of die-hard supporters who deem he can do no wrong, we all, whether we like his ego driven persona or not, do need to remember that Trump's successful economic, energy, and border policies did indeed filter down to “We the People.” And surprisingly to some, we might even have to overlook the facts of his having been impeached twice; his having been found guilty in a number of major civil trials; and whether rightly or wrongly Trump's still has to face numerous and quite serious federal indictments and trials.

Donald Trump is far from being the perfect candidate...the “lesser of two evils” some call him. But when you compare him to Obama's puppet Joe Biden is there really any doubt about who, both physically and mentally, has no business being in the White House as opposed to one who can, at times, get certain important things done. One would think the choice would be obvious especially when common sense is applied, and yet we must face the fact that due to ongoing Republican infighting there's a good chance that Biden might still be able to pull off a November win, leaving us to face four more agonizingly long years.

The stuff of nightmares, and it will continue to be We the People” who not only will be hurting financially even more so than we already are, but we will also continue seeing ourselves being made a mockery of by a man and his puppet master, as well as by those in the Democrat party who together remain more concerned about about those now entering our country illegally than they are about the “health, safety, and welfare” of the American people. And this is due to Biden's failed policies...most especially his economic policies...policies truly at odds with the reality of affordability as opposed to the cleverly crafted and deceitfully manipulated “economic indicators”...paper shifted of numbers if you will...that he and the left so love to spew. Remember, not only do we see grocery, gas prices, and essential goods and services going up just about weekly, but we also see wages struggling to keep up with escalating costs due to inflation remaining but stagnate at best.

And when added into the generalities of this nightmare are all the actual monies, perks, and freebies going to illegals instead of to financially hurting American citizens as well as to our veterans in need, the truth is that we simply cannot nor must not allow this current administration to do any more financial and economic harm than they already have.

Also, not to be forgotten is the increase in violent crime in major Democrat controlled cities and states courtesy of violent illegals being released by liberal DA's who thanks to this administration's “catch and release” program help in the dispersing of criminals throughout these United States. And unfortunately it's innocent folks...like 22-year old Laken Hope Riley...who pay the price for what, in my opinion, amounts to the Biden administration's outright sanctioning of murder...as witnessed by Biden's recent walk-back of his calling Laken's cold blooded murderer what he is...an “illegal.”

Simply and to the point, our beloved American republic is now facing both a political and a moral fight for her very survival with her winning or losing said battle being decided this November 5th. And when you narrow down the actual logistics involved you will see that the fight we now face is not just between two political parties or their chosen candidates per se, but between the entirety of the left's misguided push for “diversity” and “equity”...  what some call “cultural progressiveness”...verses the right's concept of “fair play” coupled with taking responsibility for one's own actions.

Basically, not only is our Constitution as the rule of law at stake, but the very fabric, character, values, and moral compass that is the hallmark of American culture is being hijacked by those who not only want but demand that America fails. A war between “good and evil” some like to call the upcoming election relating it back to the Biblical sense, but I personally do not see this election in such simplistic and archaic terms for I see the here and now tangibles that come November we might well be facing America's last stand...at least the America as we on the right know and love her to be.

And here I speak not of abject fear replacing what should be easily applied common sense, but to the opposing realities that both major party's presidential nominee brings to the election table, as in Donald Trump who (as I write this) is on the verge of locking up the Republican nomination...and Joe Biden, a sickly old man truly unfit both physically and mentally to hold office...a Democrat party shill doctor's report to the contrary. You can medicate someone to get through a time-defined speech, but you cannot expect that demeanor to become a daily occurrence. Just look at Joe Biden the day after his horrific, divisive, and hateful sham of a “State of the Union Address”...he was back to his old slow-moving, slurry talking, incoherent nasty self.

But no matter the very obvious physical and mental differences between these two men, there remains a serious split within the Republican party itself that could still cost Trump the election. Simply, the ongoing battle between the “Only Trump” and the “Never Trump” folks remains as divisive as ever with both groups being critical in determining who wins in November. And when you add in the all important “still on the fence” independents, no one in either party, at least not at this point in time, should take the politically generated polls nor the media's rhetoric spewed as a given truth that the 2024 election has already been decided...for Biden by the left...for Trump by the right.

Why so? One must remember, whether you like Trump or not...and I do not...that during his four years in office the so-called “machinery of government” did work fairly well even with Trump's being twice impeached coupled with all the allegations and nonsense that the Democrats threw at him...a “witch hunt” bar none. Never before in America's history did we bare witness to such a maliciously calculated attack on a sitting president...an attack whose political charges have yet to be proven...an attack by a party simply because their... as in Obama's...much wanted “transformation of America” was being sidelined by what was an uber wealthy, “party switching,” political outsider.

And yet even with a number of legal woes still on Trump's horizon, many right leaning political pundits still claim that he, not Biden, can win in November by his continuing to cite the fact that many voters fitting the moniker “of color,” along with younger and “first time” voters, do not buy into what Biden is selling. And this relates to his claim that the economy is improving and inflation is headed downward, “shrinkflation” he calls it, courtesy of job numbers that are simply not true. How so...if those numbers were true first time home ownership would be on the rise...which it is not...nor are earned wages able to stay ahead of inflation.

And others, besides the usual cast of political pundits, are gambling on a Trump victory because not only has Biden been unable to convince enough folks how his disastrous job-creation policies...most related to flaying “green energy” projects and start ups...have made a positive difference in their everyday lives or to their pocketbook; but also because Biden continues to tie us to the Ukraine/ Russia War while at the same time thinking he can tell Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu how the war with Hamas should and should not be fought. And here Joe Biden is so out of his proverbial “pay grade,” for his foreign policy blunders...blunders that directly cost American lives...can easily be summed up in but one simple word...Afghanistan.

Now here is where my “devils advocate” scenario comes into play even with certain undeniable pluses for Donald Trump, for Joe Biden can indeed still pull off another win. And surprisingly, that's even without the sure to come reemergence of 2020's voter what I call “irregularities, as in a repeat of the left's shenanigans that cost Trump the 2020 election.

So how exactly can Joe Biden win in November? First, Donald Trump, no matter all of his primary turnouts and overwhelming wins, still remains an unpopular candidate especially in key “purple” states, and not just with Democrats but with large numbers of Republicans as well. And for those Republicans it's obviously not Trump's achievements that are a problem, but the political and legal “baggage” he still carries that is. And when you add in an over-sized ego, deliberately inflammatory rhetoric coupled with not knowing when to keep his mouth shut, you can see what turns many who voted for Trump before, off. It's one thing not to be a politician per se, it's quite another thing to be the cause of deliberately dividing ones party in the name of seeking “revenge.”

Also, certain “optics” are now raising “red flags” for some Republicans as well, one in particular being that recently Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump became the RNC co-chair...a move seen by many of the party faithful as being but an authoritarian grab for power on Trump's part. Timing in politics is everything, but the timing of this months before the election is quite telling and not in a good sense as it can actually lead some Republicans to vote “third party,” which at the same time could result in a higher than normal Democrat turnout to help assure that Trump does not win. Remember, Democrats do tend to remain both faithful to the party as well as voting “down ticket” more so than we Republicans do...thus also comprising a big plus for a possible Biden win.

Bottom line, November remains all about numbers and our numbers best be high... “clothespin on nose” votes included...for if our numbers do not out pace those of the Democrats we indeed will lose it all...the House, the Senate, and the presidency...a scenario our country might never recover from. Case closed.

Op-ed:
The Importance Of 'Down Ticket' Voting
By: Diane Sori / The Patriot Factor / Right Side Patriots / Right Side Patriots Radio
The Op-ed posted here is this authors opinion alone, and does not necessarily represent the views of blogspot.com or Google.

A few weeks ago I wrote an article entitled, Vote Wisely...America's Future Depends On It”... basically laying out why come this November we must take nothing for granted. In said article I not only spoke about the importance of voting in general, but about why taking back the White House, while important in it's own right, does not negate the fact that taking back both Houses of Congress and putting them into Republican controlled hands is just as, if not more so, important than the actual presidency itself. Why so? I'll get into specifics about that in a bit.

So for now, simply stated, it's my opinion that this November's election should primarily be about the “down ticket” ballot candidates and which party they belong to, for it's those very persons who will set the actual course that our country will be on for the next four long years. And know it's no matter which man...sorry Nikki...is elected president, as the all-important state and local levels matter as well, for successful change usually starts at the bottom and works it's way up. And if we're not careful in how we vote the course we're on now could remain unchanged for a generation or more to come.

But first some important, albeit brief, background information many of us learned in high school while many others did not as mandatory civics classes have now become few and far in between, most especially in “blue states.” So here let's start with the “pecking order” if you will, beginning with the president himself or (someday) herself, including some civics 101 basics. While our duly-elected President is both the head of state as well as deemed to be the head of our government, he under “Article 2, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution is also the Commander-in-Chief of all U.S. armed forces both in times of peace and in times of war. Also, under “Article 2, Section 3” the president is responsible “to take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”... meaning not just laws newly created and passed by Congress, but all laws that currently exist on the books...as well as his ability to sign bills into law; holding the power of the veto; and making treaties with the approval of Congress.

And while many deem the president to be all powerful, actually he is not...at least not in the classic sense...and it's all thanks to our system of “Checks and Balances,” a system most especially needed when it's in regards to monetary outlay. It's Congress itself...more precisely the House of Representatives...who holds the true monetary power...the “purse strings” as it's commonly known. And while the Senate has the power to try all impeachments, as well as their having the power to confirm presidential appointments that by law require consent, even here there is a “check” in place as the House must approve appointments to the Vice Presidency as well as any treaty involving foreign trade...as in the monetary outlay pertaining to any such trade agreement.

So while the president can propose and present an annual budget for federal agencies or suggest other legislation along with corresponding monetary funding if need be, remember only the House can actually make new laws or change existing laws, while at the same time they can pass or reject any proposed monies needed in the implementation of said laws. And while the president can still veto what has been passed if it's not to his liking, even his veto can be overturned with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and the Senate, as per “Article 1, Section 7” of the Constitution.

What truly wise men our “Founders and Framers” were to make sure that the greatest power would always reside within those elected to the House...the true voice of the people...and not with the president alone. And know they did so, so that no one branch of our three branches of the government...as in the executive, the legislative, and the judicial branches...could ever try to set or to dominate the governmental discourse to their, or to one party's, liking alone. And this is key in regards to this November, for the fact remains that whomever is elected president will not really matter if both the House and Senate are not in the hands of the party to which that president belongs.

Executive Orders,” thankfully, can really only go so far especially when in today's overly heated political climate “bipartisanship” is a dirty word. In fact, it seems that true “bipartisanship”...”bipartisanship” for the good of “We the People” as well as for the good of our country instead of for the good of one party alone...has not been around since the Reagan/Tip O'Neill years when, in 1983, the Republican president and the Democrat House Speaker reached a Social Security compromise...a compromise that was far from perfect, but a true compromise nevertheless. Called the “Social Security Reform Act of 1983”...H.R. 1900...the Democrats...who had control of the House...got some things they wanted while the Republicans...who controlled the Senate...got courtesy of shared common ground, some things they wanted as well. And said compromise led even harsh critics of the bill to state that, the Social Security deal was a “practical” and “bipartisan reform” that had a “lasting positive impact” on government and public policy.

How I wish, as I'm sure many of you do too, that true common sense based “bipartisanship” was around today instead of the nonsense that always seems to engulf us... nonsense like repeated “Stop-Gap” funding bills to keep the Biden led, Obama wanted, failed government open... something akin to putting lipstick on the ever proverbial political pig.

But here with our once again recently passed “Stop-Gap” bill to temporarily fund the government...you should see why “down ticket” voting is important especially in regards to the House's control of the “purse strings,” control which most definitely includes how our taxpayer dollars are spent. And with we Republicans currently holding such a slim lead in the House at best, we more times than not are having to face trying to convince some members of the other party why they should cross over in the name of “bipartisanship.” And with some House Republicans being but RINOs at best, losing their votes over “personality clashes” equates to yet another failure of the Republican party to get done what they need to get done. But if the House was in complete Republican control by a sizable majority, things would be greatly different than they are today even with Biden as president.

So now for the specifics I alluded to at the beginning of this article, key of which is the fact...as I see it...that no matter if Trump wins or Biden wins America and “We the People” lose...I cannot say it any plainer or more directly than that.

Why so? Scenario one: if Donald Trump is able to pull off an election win...which at this point in time I believe can only happen if all Republicans rally around him as well as the independents...if no election “funny business” was to take place including not allowing “illegals” or “dead people” to vote...and if a good number of fed up with the economy and border fiasco Democrat “crossovers” were to also cast their vote for Trump...even then celebration would be but short lived if we were to lose either the House or the Senate, or more likely both.

And why so...because 2022 proved that Trump supported and/or endorsed candidates did not fare well in their races. Remember, we barely took the House and outright lost the Senate by four seats even in the more competitive states, with some candidates not even wanting or were leery of Trump's support especially in swing states.

In other words, without the full Congress in Republican hands...and I mean via overwhelming numbers...without them to stand strong behind Trump...nothing...I repeat nothing...would get done even with Trump holding the power of the veto over the Democrats heads. Why so? Simply because not only will the Democrats again call for Trump to be impeached...it's what Democrats relish in doing...but a Democrat controlled Congress will easily be able to override any veto Trump were to hand down. Trump might be president, but a politically impotent one at best.

Now for scenario two...a somewhat simple reversal if you will. If Joe Biden were to win in November not only would Obama get his fourth term in office and more time to “fundamentally transform” America from within...a loss for our great republic in its own right...but Biden would also face a tit-for-tat Republican called for impeachment for obvious and rightful reasons, and yet he would still be able to push forward Obama's said transformation via a Democrat controlled Congress rubber-stamping his every whim. And this would happen even if the House technically stayed in Republican hands because these past few years have shown that the Republican party itself is far from being united behind the entirety of its ticket.

And when Republicans overlook just how important the House and Senate races are to their agenda, they not only tend to lose some what should be easily won races, but some much needed House Republican votes...RINO votes if you will...votes that are lost courtesy of some siding...on certain unfortunate key issues like abortion... with the Democrats. And this is done way more times than Democrats crossing over to the Republican side.

And once again both “We the People” and our beloved America loses.

Simply, Biden as president does not really have to fear Democrats switching to the Republican side regarding their vote, but Trump has to fear Republicans siding with Democrats on certain issues. Remember, not all Republicans are conservatives nor are they all far to the right, while almost all Democrats march in lockstep with the hierarchy's wishes, together united in their leaning to the left. And this could only be negated if by some outside chance the Republicans took both the House and the Senate by enough numbers to override any Biden presidential veto he might issue.

Translation regarding both scenarios: “We the People” and our republic lose no matter which of these two men becomes president...meaning the “lesser of two evils” becomes more important than ever this go round, especially when House and Senate seats are usually influenced by the turnout for the candidates in the presidential race. Get a top ticket person not to the party's nor to ones personal liking and even the thought of a “down ticket” ballot gets thrown by the wayside. In fact, voting history has shown that people, in general, tend to lose interest in the House and Senate races if they are truly unhappy with the top of their ticket. And this is especially telling now that this November's race...a race few Americans wanted...seems to be a losing proposition no matter who wins. But even if Trump were to pull of a win the chances of him solidly locking up the Republican ticket...as in the House and the Senate...seems highly unlikely at this point in time.

So do think long and hard about the importance of voting a straight Republican line ticket, whether you like Trump or not, because to do otherwise might well mean our republic's demise. Sadly, case closed.
