Op-ed:
Over the past few months President Trump tried to get Iran to not only “negotiate for peace” regarding it's war with Israel, but to abandon its nuclear program...a program not initiated for peaceful purposes but for the development of nuclear bombs...bombs whose destinations would be Israel and the U.S.
And when Iran decided they'd rather go to war than dismantle anything, Trump dismantled said program for them in a“divert and deflect” precision operation, where Iran's nuclear ambitions were “bunker bombed” into oblivion. Now it's up to the Iranian people to follow the German peoples lead of 35 years ago and take “regime change” into their own hands.
Two great presidents striving for peace, but “peace through strength” for “strength” is what makes peace possible. Weakness was not an option for Reagan nor was it for Trump especially with Iran being the worldwide “state sponsor of terrorism,” thus an “existential threat to us all.” Trump gave Iran every opportunity to stop fighting and agree to nuclear disarmament, but it's hard to reason with a radical, theocratic based regime who believe that their cause is just and that God...in this case allah...is on their side.
So now we wait and see what comes next. Will “regime change” happen ...will a “populist/ resistance” movement be able to overtake the remnants of what's left of Khomeini's faithful...will Israel “take out” Khomeini...or will his death, thus martyrdom, become a rallying cry for the ideologues even though the Iranians wanting change far out number them? Or would retaliatory actions taken by Iran lead to further joint Israeli/U.S. actions being needed, as in take out Iran's oil fields thus crashing their economy?
